Asthenia is a general term referring to extreme temporary or chronic weakness and fatigue. This happens to people with anemia, cancer or adrenal gland diseases. Sometimes people will have such severe insomnia that they barely sleep at all. (This was the case with the man Ted helped with the remedy below.) Asthenopia refers to asthenia of only certain organs or systems. Myasthenia gravis relates to progressive fatigue of the muscular system. Patients with neurocirculatory asthenia have insomnia, dizziness, heart palpitations and breathing problems. Dehydration should be checked for; liquid may help. Overall, asthenia is usually a symptom of another disease or connected to a treatment like chemotherapy. Anyone experiencing extreme weakness or fatigue should consult a doctor to have the underlying problem diagnosed.

    Natural Treatment for Asthenia
One of our popular contributors, Ted from Bangkok, has suggested the following remedy:
Mix in a glass of water: 1/8 tsp. sodium carbonate, 1/8 tsp. baking soda and 1/8 tsp. sea salt and drink 3-4 times a day, including before sleep. If there are no problems, it can be increased to 1/2 tsp. of each. You can also add 1/8 tsp. of potassium bicarbonate or potassium citrate. Potassium can also be added. The sea salt added trace monoatomic elements. Read below for more details.
