Effective Natural Treatments for Vertigo & Meniere's Disease

Eliminate Artificial Sweeteners

I am a diabetic and had recently had a flare-up of elevated sugars due to a round of hi-dose steroids. I also have Meneire's Disease and the steroids were to try to control the vertigo I experience from the disease. I started a diet in April of this year (2017) and started drinking water with Crystal Light packets mixed in it. Not long after, maybe a month, I started having vertigo spells like I had never experience before! One dropped me right to the ground, and several made me throw up immediately. They were the most horrible vertigo spells I have had to date. I went to see a nutritionist to discuss the diabetes and diet and had one of those spells while sitting with her. She did some research while I was suffering and found out that Crystal Light has aspartame in it. On further research, she found some information on just how bad aspartame is and a correlation to people that already experience vertigo. I immediately stopped drinking water with those packets and switched to a different water enhancer and almost immediately had a cessation of those horrible vertigo spells! I do still have some vertigo, guess I always will with Meneire's, but it is so much easier to take without the aspartame poisoning. I look over the labels now of everything I eat to check for it and avoid it like the plague! Plus I have informed my friends and coworkers to avoid it also. Thank the good Lord for my nutritionist - I feel like she saved my sanity.

Colloidal Silver

In reply to Wil S. (Kentwood, Louisiana ),

I am glad that colloidal silver is helping your vertigo symptoms!

I would suggest that people not to use well water or spring water to make their colloidal silver with as you have no control over what is in that water. I understand that it is used for drinking water, but when you are taking your colloidal silver into your nose, whatever is in that colloidal silver can potentially reach the brain and that definitely seems a risk worth avoiding by just using distilled water to make your colloidal silver with.

The fact that you say that your CS is lavender colored, indicates that there is more than silver in this water, but you don't know what it is and you are putting it up your nose. It may not be something harmful, but is it worth the risk when a gallon of distilled water can be had for around a buck? If you look at all of the commercially available CS products, I don't think you will find any lavender ones. Most silver products will be clear or shades of yellow or brown.

Colloidal Silver

For several years, I have fought vertigo intermittently. Two of the 3 ENT's I went to were only interested in selling me a hearing aid. They did me absolutely no good -- weren't interested in healing me, to my notion, or even in really diagnosing the problem. This last bout got no better for 4 days. My husband insisted on getting fresh eyes on the problem in the form of a local NP, who might try to actually find the problem rather than having a diagnosis in mind before seeing me and trying to make the problem fit his diagnosis rather than the other way around. He immediately saw (by looking in my ears -- what a novel idea) that I had a terrible infection. Two rounds of antibiotics helped a lot, but apparently the sinus behind the maxillary bone had been infected, perhaps for years. The NP sent me to yet another ENT, and I was once again disappointed. I thought my own way through the problem and I believe a cure is at hand.

For years I have made my own colloidal silver. I have no idea how many ppm it is, but I make it with our well water, which is from an aquifer that is mined by a local company which bottles and sells it as "spring water." My colloidal silver is lavender-colored. To get rid of the infection in my maxillary sinus, I lie on the bed with my head hanging over the side (upside down, face up) and use a large eye dropper to fill my left nostril with colloidal silver until I feel it coming into my throat through the eustachian tube. By turning my head to one side (left), I am able to fill the infected sinus without swallowing liquid. The first application burned like the mischief. When I am regimented in doing this 3 or 4 times a day, I experience great relief. The dizziness, while not completely gone, is almost gone. I figure it took years of negligence to get to this point; it may take awhile to completely cure.

I agree but I do believe you need the iodine though that iodized salt supplies.

Zinc

Zinc helps beating of the ear symptoms called Meniere's disease. Increase sesame seeds, tahini etc. but zinc tablets will work faster.

Silica 6x also helps beating in the ear but I found zinc far better for long term results.

Nasal Rinse
Posted by Joecool025 (Sacramento, California) on 02/15/2017

To add to this remedy:

He uses a "NEIL MED SINUS RINSE" product you can find at the supermarket or online. It's a saline solution with about an 8oz bottle.

You put a saline packet in the bottle, and fill with warm to hot water (your preference).

Next squeeze one half of the solution into one nostril, and allow the water to flow out of the other nostril. Then switch and do the same thing for the other nostril.

He does this in the shower once per day. But says if your allergies are worse you could do it twice per day. He has only had to do that a few times though, and it doesn't seem to be needed for him anymore.

In his experience this will not cure a vertical bout, but it will prevent future ones.

All the best,

Jose (for Phil)

I found you online about flush out sinus to get rid of vertigo. Not sure if you can respond back to me.

I want to ask you how often should I use the squeeze bottle rise my nose with a day mix with- 1/2 peroxide & sea salt? There is no instructions on how many times to use a day, how many squeeze & how long to wait after each squeeze of solution. Can you reply back asap?

My uncle just shared his cure for his vertigo, and I wanted to post it here and see if it helps others.

He used to have bouts of vertigo almost every day at times. He started using a nasal rinse and has had it only once in three years. He believes his vertigo was definitely allergy driven.

Hope this helps you!!

Lemon and Basil, Epley Manuever

I have been suffering from vertigo for two months or so. I have noticed that if I have no caffeine at all and drink lemon juice in a mixture of basil and honey and water and drink that every day, the water can be cold or warm, it is up to you. That, coupled with the epley maneuver plus prayer helps me alot.

Magnesium

I have suffered with vertigo on and off for about 12 years. The last time it hit me was in October 2015 and lasted till December 2015 until I read an article about magnesium deficiency. I started taking 400mg of Magnesium Oxide every day and after three days no more vertigo. I told my neighbor about it and she too tried the magnesium and now is vertigo free. I tried everything before and this is what worked for me.

Magnesium
Posted by Elizabeth Manuel (England) on 07/05/2016

Vertigo is often due to lack of magnesium/potassium/Vitamin D and/or excessive calcium. If you are also experiencing chest pains on an evening/morning akin to PRINZMETAL angina, and/or a stiff neck muscles, then it is likely that an imbalance in the calcium/magnesium ratio is behind your vertigo. Often salty foods (like sauerkraut) can trigger an attack as the ratio of sodium and potassium also interplay in this balancing act.

Stop taking any calcium supplements (or any vitamins that uses calcium as a filler) for now and start supplementing with magnesium. Put a chelated form in a water bottle and sip it throughout the day, this spreads it out more evenly and allows potentially more to be absorbed in the small intestine and utilized by the cells, bones, muscles, endocrine system and organs that depend upon it.

As calcium can also build up in the body if there is a deficiency of potassium or vitamin D, make sure you're getting enough potassium (bananas are a good source) and up your vitamin D levels by exposing your skin to sun for at least 20 mins a day.

Epley Maneuver

I've practiced the Epley maneuvers 3 times for about 10 years which helped. This last episode over the past 2 weeks has helped but I am still having vertigo. Came across a CU doc, Dr. Carol Foster who has a different maneuver I started this morning. So far good.

I've been on a Candida diet without incident due autoimmune issues. A month ago I gave in and started introducing breads (regular & GF) and a bit of sugar and then the vertigo returned.

A lady selling fresh breads at the local farmers market suggested avoiding 'enriched' breads specifically the 'potassium bromide that is seeming to be a culprit causing health issues. Back to the wheat free diet.

Butter Coffee

My daughter had suffered for years with the same spectrum of problems with Menier's. The "cure" for her was bulletproof or butter coffee. The recipe is:

collagen protein 2 tbsp in a hot beverage, 1 or 2 tbsp of real butter, 1/2 tsp mct oil or coconut oil in a blender. Blend 15 to 30 seconds and drink.

That was the first thing that really helped because all the hearing and dizziness was from bad digestion. We found out by her drinking it. It was not a plan. At 27 years old and a lifetime of issues I contacted an herbalist to further help her.

Here is what worked:

Bulletproof coffee in the morning. She blended and processed every meal into a soupy type meal. She drank lots of water. Digestion digestion. Her problems really got worse and she acquired food allergies to all nightshade vegetables eventually unable to work or go in a restaurant and lunchroom. Due to the coffee and blending her food she now is able to work two jobs and is looking forward to getting a driver's license this spring. Her allergy to nightshade is diminishing enough that I can cut up a tomato in the house and she can go in a restaurant.

Method cutup cooked meats and vegetables in blender or processor add some soup broth and or bone broth some coconut water enough to allow free movement of food. Blend until particles are tiny every meal. Eliminations were no Aspartame nitrates calcium supp. Msg fast food No gluten or grains no corn syrup. She saw results right away just doing this.

Her supplements are inositol choline. b50 with thiamine mononitrate as b1 only the hydrochloride can upset things. Magnesium as citrate or malate 6 to 800mg 2x a day. Bromelain with each meal and 2x a day 1/2 hr after food 1 whole lime squeezed in a glass or 2 tbsp Apple cider vinegar add 1/2 tsp baking soda let fizz add 1/2.glass of water drink. She also takes n acetyl cysteine nac to keep her nose and ears clear. She takes 5000iu of vitamin d every day to help heal digestion. She added supplements after she started changing her food bromelain is essential and was the first supp. As she could not tolerate any for years.

Put Ear Crystals Back in Place

Vertigo or dizziness is often caused by loose crystals in your inner ear canals. This is more common as you age so Boomers take note. YouTube has videos showing how you lie on your bed or table face up with your head overhanging the edge. Slowly roll to your right and make a complete circle with your head. You may feel dizzy but go slowly. This method puts the crystals back in your cochlea so they no longer float around and cause dizziness.

Hello, try Strath from Bio-Strath. The founder himself had Meniere and got cured many years ago. It is a Swiss product and can be bought in Food Health Stores.

I agree with the ladies above. Our bodies need the minerals in Himalayan salt, or Celtic salt. It can prevent numerous health conditions that are present in today's society. processed salts like Morton's do not contain near the amount of minerals as Himalayan or Celtic salt and Morton's has toxic chemicals and way too much sodium.

Epley Maneuver

One more YEA for Epley maneuver. I have had vertigo a number of times now, and using the maneuver always does the trick to relieve the symptoms.

My variation: sit up at the edge of the bed, quickly lie back (with force) onto your back, then quickly turn your body on its side toward the affected side. Wait until the (very! ) unpleasant vertigo sensation stops, then slowly raise yourself back up to sitting. Repeat 2-3 times.

My understanding is that vertigo is caused by calcium crystals that are naturally present in your inner ear become loose. The maneuver forces the loose crystals into a place where they don't float around so much every time you turn your head.

Sadly I will not be able to take any more arial yoga classes until this latest bout of vertigo subsides.

Eriocitrin from lemon rind is very effective for Meniere's Disease (MD).

If you can't get the supplement in your health food store, simply grate the rind of one lemon every day and add to any juice before drinking. Adds some 'zest' to your juice as well.

This happened to me while waiting in a doctor's office for a friend. The office had a funny smell too. I'd like to say a metal smell. After 15 minutes I had to hold on to anything I could to leave the office. And I had to sit down outside in the fresh air for 30 minutes before I could drive again. It scared the life out of me.

You mean table salt. Stay away from process table salt, yes. But SEA SALT, like Himalayan or Celtic, is very healthy and others have found relief from vertigo with SEA SALT.

I had BPPV.

I saw a vestibular therapist who did the Eply Maneuver on me. It is a simple head movement that a professional needs to do to you so that it is done properly. If it's not done properly, it won't help. Good luck.

I had bppv and it was that way for 4 days. The ent doctor told me to do exercise at home, the epley maneuver. I did it for three days twice, that was enough for me. My hearing test was very good; he also did a test in the office. I was screaming for life, scary is not the word. Well when I was on my 4th day of these exercises, I said God help me, so he did. I put hydrogen peroxide in my right ear cause he said that was the one that made me dizzy and off balance, praise God, oh lord it went away, solely the truth, Amen. Hopefully I helped someone, thanks Francis

Chiropractic

While I haven't used atlas orthogonal chiropractic for vertigo, I have found it to be amazing for back pain, heart arrhythmia (PVCs), allergies, neck pain, and so much more. Regular chiropractic didn't help me at all but this specialty is amazing and completely pain free. To find a doctor with this specialty, go to http://www.atlasorthogonality.com and click Find a Doctor and click on the state you want. It is a more rare specialty but worth a drive if one isn't close to you. You can watch a video on the website that shows how it works. It is used broadly in sports medicine. It will change your life.

I suffered from dizziness foe several months which my doctor diagnosed as Vertigo. I was rather put out and sceptical when her recommendation was to look up Epley maneuver on "you tube". She said some people only need to do it once for success! Well I did it with the help of my husband twice a day for a week and it did stop altogether. It is straight forward after you have watched a couple of times and costs nothing so must be worth a try.
