I suffer from very bad gas. I used to be a fast food junkie and now eat lots of fruits veggies, and whole grains. I started using apple cidar vinegar to help with digestion since some of my gas didn't go away with cutting back the fast food. The Apple Cidar Vinegar really helps with these symptoms. I take 2 tbsp in the morning after breakfast, 2 after lunch and 2 or 3 tbsp before bed. I know it's alot but I now don't have strange noises coming from my stomache region while out in public.
I have been taking ACV (2 teaspoons ACV and maple syrup) for almost a week. I have been having problems with gas--terrible gas. Everything that I ate gave me gas. I noticed in the very same day that I took the ACV my gas pains have disappeared. However, one of my tooth that has multiple fillings is hurting me. Now I understand why. I will just use a straw. I love my ACV. I am trying to loose weight also.
I was curious about ACV and decided to take a 2T shot of it. Yikes! I thought I had poisoned myself. It burned my throat, my esophogus, and stomach sooooo bad! After I realized I wasn't going to die (ha ha) I started to relax. Later in the evening I kept thinking...What is this feeling I'm feeling? I realized it was what I wasn't feeling...heartburn, gas and muscle pain. I might try it again...this time diluted of course.
I was in serious upper abdominal gas pain for hours upon hours the today. I tried everything until finally I came across this website. I dont like taking medicine unless im practically dying so I was eager to try these remedies. I being a poor college student all I had was baking soda. After a coffee cup full of hot water and a tsp or baking soda, the pain finally subsided. I couldnt have gotten through the night with this pain so this was literally a life saver!!!!!!!

I was woken up by extreme stomach and even back pain due to gas. I just drank the baking soda (1/2 teapoon) and water (1/2 cup) maybe 5 minutes ago and I already feel 75% better!!! Thank you sooooo much. I remember my grandfather drinking the mix every night when I was a child. Now I know why!!

I ate spaghetti with tomato sauce two days in a row and both times I got sever pains in my upper back and I remember my mom and sister talking about gas in the back years ago, so right away I knew what was happening, I tried stretching and laying on objects to move the pain, and it helped for a second but the pain came right back. I decided to put 1 tsp of baking soda in an 8oz glass of warm water and it helped me to burp and it immediately took the pain away.
It is a miracle and I will make sure I always have it in my refrigerator. I use Apple Cider vinegar in some of my recipes and have always heard it is a good remedy for different ailments so I will start drinking it as needed after this last episode.

I have read through many of the posts here and I highly recommend using a 1/4 tsp. of baking soda in a glass of water for indigestion or gas. It works, period.
If you have a problem with sodium, you'll need to take that into consideration. This old remedy has been used for centuries and it works for me for either acid reflux, gas, or indigestion. I only use this once in a while, and you should not depend on this as an everyday routine from my perspective. Plain yogurt can also help with indigestion and gas by balancing your good bacteria, but it does not give the fast relief you get with the baking soda and water.
My advice is quit taking drugs if there is a healthy and safe alternative.
I tried a couple teaspoons of baking soda mixed in about one-half to three-quarters cup of water to relieve debilitating gas pains. Within about five minutes, the relief was setting in. After about 15 minutes, the gas pains were gone. It did cause me to expel some gas, too, which I was unable to do beforehand.

Sodium Bicarb instantly took away the pain from bloating caused by gas.It really works. After trying several things and feeling so nauseous with pain, I finally tried taking 1 tbsp of baking soda with hot water. Within minutes it took the pain away. It taste really awful, but works like magic.
1/2 teaspoon of baking soda mixed in 1/2 cup of water relieves gas pains.
RE: Cure Gas Fast Angostura bitters remedy... I'm a night club dj. On several occasions I've gotten terrible stomach pain just before a gig at a bar. When I say terrible stomach pain, I mean eye watering, agonizing pain that comes in waves. Sometimes it feels like my stomach is in a knot and other times like it's being ripped apart. I've asked bartenders what I should drink. A few have suggested bitters. I'm not sure if this is the same as Angostura bitters, but it's the only thing I remember working. Generally after drinking something with bitters, my pain goes away in an hour or so. Without the bitters, I'm in pain all night and sometimes for a day or two after.
Wonderful and informative site. I love it. Wayne, I am in total agreement with you. Angostura Bitters is just great. We use it for upset stomach, belly aches hangover etc. Adds great flavor to west indian cooking and drinks. Nothing beats a cool glass of lemonade/limeade with a few drops of AB on a hot day. Hi All: I'm from the island of Trinidad in the West Indies. Since I was a child, one of the standard remedies for alimentary disturbances - belly aches, gas etc. - has been a few dashes of Angostura bitters (AB) in a little cool water. AB is made only in Trinidad but is famous worldwide as a beverage taste enhancer. However, it was originally developed by a famous German doctor to treat his wartime patients for alimentary disturbances. Locally it is still used for same especially by "olden" folk. Can't wait to try the Activated Charcoal, but in the meantime I've discovered that putting 1/2 tsp. of Caraway Seeds in your Tea (I'am using Red Clover right now, but Anise Tea would be "far" better), AND the combination of taking 1 tsp. whole mustard seeds (doesn't matter the color, I'am taking yellow), with water 3 times a day, (don't bite the mustard seeds, swallow whole) I can actually FEEL the combination fighting the bad bacteria, and I'am releasing more gas, but need to start using allspice in everything too! It's anti-flatulance as well!
I've suffered from bad bloating and digestive problems my whole adult life. I was told by one specialist that I probably have IBS, but that I didn't need to bother with tests because there's not much to do about it besides learn which foods to avoid etc. Eliminating milk (besides buttermilk/kefir and butter) and cutting down on grains in recent months has helped a lot, but I saw another doctor who pointed out that IBS is a diagnosis of exclusion and I may as well find out if there's more to it than irritable bowels. So I'm now being tested for allergies, intolerances and any diseases that might be lurking in the stomach-area. I am excited to hear about the results of the tests, of course, but I'm more excited about just having discovered the wonders of CARAWAY-TEA! A few days ago it hit me: carraway seeds boiled with cabbage completely eliminates the otherwise hellish bloating (in me, anyway). So why not carraway on it's own?
And sure enough, just a teaspoon or two per cup of water (I either let the seeds boil for a few seconds before steeping, or crush them in a mortar and pour boiled water over) has made me a new and happier person. For over a week now I have been moving around with ease, no gas-attacks lasting for days or even hours, I'm no longer distracted by pains in my stomach and stiffness because of cramps. The strange thing is, it hasn't helped my over-all digestion because my bowel-movements are still helter-skelter. But without a doubt it works directly and efficiently on the gas. Supposedly you can chew it raw before meals, if you're prone to indigestion. I tried that, too, but didn't notice a difference so I'll stick with the after-meal tea (better-tasting than raw and dry).
