My 5 yr old gradchild recently came down with chicken pox; My daughter took her to the emergency room. The Dr. said: "It could be chicken pox, " "but he wasn't sure... They did not cover that much information on chicken pox in Med. School. " "And he was not exactly sure how to treat it. " (At least he was honest.) Since he wasn't sure... my daughter brought my grandchild to me.

Day one: She was so miserable; she was feverish, her throat hurt and she could not eat, her body was covered with the pox sores, and the itching was so intense she was crying, she could not sleep. I gave her ACV and baking soda in water to drink, I sprayed colloidal silver in her throat-ears-nose, also put peroxide in each ear, and let it bubble very well. I kept her fever under control with baby asprin and cold compresses. (I know alot of people are afraid to use asprin, but I come from a big family-12 children, and my mother always used baby asprin, and never lost a child; we are all in our 40's-60's now; I gave asprin to my child, and she is still alive. Oh, and yes my mom is still alive and kicking, at the age of 83.) I tried the oatmeal baths, and they would work for a little while, but did not completely stop it. I gave her a benadryl tablet, and before long the itching was totally gone; and she was able to sleep.

Day Two: Although the itching and fever was now gone, she had swollen lymp nodes behind both ears, and on both sides of her neck, and both tonsils looked like golf balls covered in little white dots. I gave her ACV and baking soda in water to drink, I sprayed colloidal silver in her throat-ears-nose, also put peroxide in each ear, and let it bubble very well. I continued the oatmeal baths (2 x daily) with some epsom salt added to help dry the pox sores. After her bath I sprayed the pox sores with the colloidal silver, and then applied gentian violet to each of the pox with a Qtip; of course by this point, she felt well enough to want too help... She loved her purple polka dots. Before bed I gave her another benadryl so she could sleep without itching.

Day Three: She is up early, very happy, feels good, puts together puzzels, goes out and jumps on the trampoline. (Jumping on the trampoline helps get the lymp nodes flowing.) I repeat the ACV and baking soda with water, colloidal silver treatment in throat-nose-ears, and peroxide in the ears, oatmeal baths with epsom salt. Another benadryl at night.

Day Four: Her first day of kindergarten, and she did't have to miss. She is so excited... When she got in from school, she wanted to re-apply the gentian violet... So I let her. I sprayed her throat-nose-ears with the colloidal silver. She took a regular bath, and did not take the benadryl tonight.

Day Five: Her pox sores have dried up, and shrunk. Her lymp nodes have shrunk, and are barely noticeable. She and her mother go home.

She did not have any permanent scarring.

If you use the gentian violet, it "will stain the skin... But is not permanent;" it fades gradually. If it gets on clothing, floors, countertops, etc. , it can be permanent. Bleach can usually remove it from most things, other than clothes.

Please do not give aspirin to children! If you survived, it does not mean Reye's Syndrome cannot happen to your child or grandchild. Children really DO get Reye's Syndrome; it is no joke. I personally know an adult who had this as a child, and as a result, had to have a part of her skull removed to control the brain swelling. She also acquired AIDS in the process of multiple blood transfusions--obviously a rare side effect, but her suffering has been tremendous. Ibuprofen and Tylenol are much safer options if you want medicine to reduce fever.

Oatmeal baths are an excellent Remedy for the chickenpox. My daughter who has Leukemia (in remission) now has Chicken Pox. Itching stopped immediately I put her in the Oatmeal bath and she sounded a lot happier.

I am now trying Vitamin C and Lysine, had great success with Teds Flu remedy but as she is so young I am not giving her Aspirin. As soon as I saw the red spots I started spraying her with Colloidal Silver, a lot of spots disappeared straight away but some still became blisters, this is day 2 only. I do not know the strength of the Vitamin C, the Naturopath says it is very strong as it is not synthetic but naturally derived and the Lysine I can't find a strength either?

Peppermint Oil

★★★★★

My daughter was 7 when she contracted chicken pox. The itchiness was preventing her from sleeping, so I made up a solution of pure peppermint oil & water. (You can also use pure lavender oil). To 1 litre of water add 1 drop. Shake vigorously, tip out half the water, top up with water to again make 1 litre and then do it again, so you end up with 1/4 oil to 1 litre of water. This works on the homeopathic principle of attenuation (to weaken/reduce in intensity). I applied it where-ever the spots were, and within minutes the itching had stopped, and she was able to sleep peacefully. I prefer peppermint oil, as it has a soothing & cooling effect, and the spots clear up quickly with no scarring.
Have respect when using this oil, (as it is very potent) and be careful not to get any near your eyes or face, as it burns! (I can tell you this from personal experience!) Flush with plenty of water should this happen. However, reduced down to a quarter of its strength, it makes a formidable ally against chicken pox itching and scratching!

How long do I keep this on my skin? I just had a chicken pox and am thinking of making a paste. Do I wash it off after 20 mins? Perhaps take an oatmeal bath after?

CALAMINE LOTION!!! YIPEE!!!! It's nonsense you only get it once, I got it 4 times!!! Thank you my dear Family!!! Lol xxx I caught it off younger Family members, then all by myself??? I think not!! It is the herpes virus. It will hide in your body, you need too kill the virus off.. It is also responsible for Shingles, genital herpes, cold sores. You can also try aloe vera capsules. They were a life saver for my darling departed MUM.... I was nearly dead in hospital, my MUM seeing me like that, triggered off 'shock', which then activated her Shingles. Nothing the doctors prescribed helped. But she swore by the aloe vera capsules, they healed her. Hope this helps. Love Andrea C xxxx
