For boils: I had Tea Tree oil on hand and I gave it a go and wow did it work. It pulled everything. So disgusting but I've been using it as a topical treatment now for 3 days twice a day and I can move without pain and the boil has decreased to a dime size. So happy I had this.

Raw Potato, H2O2

Raw potato diced up or shredded up, raw only, will pull out the infection, then use hydrogen peroxide to finish pulling out any leftover infection for that week, you will heal, my grandsons boil on his butt was very big and sore I put on the raw shredded up potato into a gauze and taped around the edges so the gauze would breathe, overnight the shredded potato pulled out the core, he felt it hurt at that point, then I checked it the next day and the potato was blackened afterwards, I then proceeded with hydrogen peroxide to keep it cleaned and it healed.

Then my husband had 4 toes on his foot that would not heal, so I did the raw shredded potato again with a big gauze to cover them overnight, then the next day the shredded potatoes in the gauze was black, so I took it off and cleaned with hydrogen peroxide, he healed in two weeks, just keep putting the peroxide on it til it healed up well, the first day I did this the potatoes had pulled out puss and it looked awful, I just cleaned it with the hydrogen peroxide and it healed, every day for two weeks was sufficient.

Turmeric has a nasty taste, and putting it in chocolate milk doesn't help, I've been taking it for about 2 years now. But the ones I take is at Walmart don't know how pure it is though. I drink soy milk for hormone imbalance too. And I still get them recently allot on face but I think these are carbuncles....nothing is working but I think I wasn't taking enough turmeric I was taking 2 and got a turmeric more powerful supposedly and the bottle said 1 a day so I did. Started get these on my face, so I went back to 2 a day still getting them. I read that raisins everyday will keep them away so I'm trying that too. Been putting up with them for 6 years now after my period stopped, I went thru menopause early then allot of women. But ever since then I've been having them big ones at first not so big ones and none for a while. But now it's allot on my face and had 2 small one on my side.......I have tried allot of stuff seems to get rid of them.....I've been drinking soy milk for 4 years now........I take multi-vitamins, vitamin D, vitamin C, turmeric & nothing keeps them gone.....ARG.......

No matter what I used to cause boil to burst and drain, whether hot salt bath or VVR to name a few, to get it to close nicely, I gently clean area and put a little hydrogen peroxide a folded to size soft paper towel and apply to area. I let it stay on a few hours or even over night. It always closes the open boil beautfully and quickly, no more than a couple of days and sometimes faster.

Colloidal Silver

Katzie, just as a side note, if you are susceptible to boils, a therapeutic way to prevent them is sudzing a wash cloth with an organic soap, spray two squirts of magnesium oil on the suds and wash away. Rinse. This method works extremely well for the elderly who sit a lot and are prone to many skin problems in the folds of their skin and their bottoms.

Good Luck!

I suffered from boils in my underwear area for about 7 yrs, with a frequency of about every other month. From this amazing site, I was a user of the turmeric paste cure, which never failed me, but it does stain everything it touches. I then spent a lot of time in the colloidal silver thread one day and decided to buy it at the health food store one day. When the next boil came, I tried the colloidal silver (24 ppm) suspended in gel, on it. I figured the gel would stay on my boils longer. This only took one treatment to shrink the boil considerably, and one more treatment to finish it off. I was amazed. I did not get another round of boils for about 4 months, and then used the silver gel again, which worked equally as well. It was another 6 months before I got them again, used the silver gel and the boils were gone. It has now been almost a year since I've had any boils at all. I am SO eternally grateful to this site, and its posters, for adding to the quality of my life. I have not had a prescription from a Dr since I found this site because I can always take care of it at home. Thank you, Earth Clinic! I am thrilled to have found the power of colloidal silver on here.

Boils:

Try combining the apple cider vinegar cotton swap with a HOT compress.

I just brought a boil on my wrist to a head in about 45 minutes, which is amazing because it was NOWHERE near this before I started.

1. Clean area with alcohol

2. Dip cotton ball in Apple Cider Vinegar

3. Apply ACV cotton ball to boil

4. Hold in place with bandage

5. Apply a fairly tight wrap to secure everything and prevent ACV from staining clothes / compress

6. Microwave a compress for about 5 minutes. Apply it directly on top of the part of the wrap that is covering the boil

7. Watch TV for about 45 minutes to 1 hour

This worked for me in 1 treatment. I was completely blown away.

I used to use an incredibly awesome turmeric/manuka honey combination for most boils. Turmeric is a miracle substance, but it stains everything. So, about a year ago I started using silver gel on a boil as soon as I detected it ; that, combined with a non-stick medical pad, and that boil would soon disappear. The neatest thing is, is that it seems to have diminished the frequency of the boils, as well. I also use it on my teen's pimples and it zaps them as well. I also use silver gel and/or manuka honey in place of polysporin now. Good health, everybody!

As for drinking the mix and taste buds and all...

If you like savory foods you might try grinding some Turmeric Root, finely chopping fresh garlic, and adding it to a small cup of your favorite broth. I use Turmeric, Fresh Garlic, Black Pepper, Marmite, Vegetarian Bouillon and Hot Water and sip it for an immune boost.

I am not into sweet drinks other than soda (I know, bad for me) and the occasional sip of Eggnog at Christmas.

HI U MARIE, , , , , , , , , Lordy you must be as old as me to know about Ichthmmol. These young whipper snappers have no clue what this ointment can do.

In my day every household had a tube because as you say, boils were common, as were splinters. A few years ago a grandson got a splinter under his toe nail from our lake dock. He's a crybaby and was going nuts. We took him to a doctor which charged us $400 to remove it. Are you sheeting me?

Anyways, you probably know that in addition this ointment brings boils to a head, this ointment will form a pus pocket around a splinter and within a few days it almost comes out on it's own.

A few years ago our 40 year old tube played out and I went to Walmart to buy another tube. They had no clue and had to look it up and make a special order. Yep, Big Pharma and the medical folks had rather you spend $400 than a few bucks for a tube of Ichthammol.

Last Wed. I had a heart spell. It felt like someone had put a sack of concrete on my chest. I moved from my easy chair to the couch. No help and I was getting nervous. Took my blood pressure and it was good , the problem was that my pulse rate was at 170. My heart was in Fibrillation, I went to the internet to Mayo, etc and their advice was to call 911 and go to the emergency room. I then went to EC and read what others had done in this situation. Here's what I did:

Drank a glass of Power Ade

Drank 2 Tbsp of ACV

Drank water containing 5 drops of Iodine

Took 3 capsules of Magnesium

Sprayed my body down with MgCl

Soon my pulse rate went back to normal.

What I have learned is that if you in deep sheet then go to EC instead of Mayo's. That statement should get EC in trouble for certain. I have been to Mayo's twice for my company's physical and I was not impressed. They talk the walk.

To cut to the chase, listen to what Marie has told you because, undoubtably, she has been down a lot of dusty trails.

Ice Cubes

Erin, thank you for your post.

I believe you are on to something with your ice cube remedy. I recently had a terrible bout with boils/staph for about 3 months in a very delicate area which was not easy to contain or treat. One turned into 14 quickly. Very painful. I tried everything (turmeric, manuka honey, acv, tea tree oil, golden seal, garlic and numerous others) to get rid of them. Nothing was working for me. I had read your post, but didn't actually try it because of how sensitive the area is with the infection. Then the weather warmed I started swimming in a very cold river for about 1 hour several times a week. After the 1st week, I noticed that some of the boils had come to a head and erupted without any prompting from me and others shrank to nothing. After a few weeks of swimming in that very cold river 4x's/week, I'm happy to say that the infection has almost completely cleared. The only thing that I have been doing in addition to swimming is applying colloidal silver in the morning and evening to keep the infection from spreading. I think bringing your body (or body part with the infection) temperature way down for a period of time is the key to killing it. I remembered your post and thought I would corroborate your findings as well. Should this ever happen to me again, I will put my body in an ice bath if I'm not near a river (or it's winter). I think you may have uncovered the cure. Thanks again for your post.

When my husband was younger, he got several boils and carbuncles over the course of a year. The hospital lanced them each time and they usually came back. He also got antibiotics and perhaps other drugs. The worst one was a carbuncle, an infected boil with several heads. Finally his father suggested an old remedy and the doctor agreed to try it.

Find a bottle with a mouth just large enough to fit over the boil. Fill the bottle with very hot water. In a minute or two, dump out the water. Place the hot bottle over the boil and a suction will form, pulling out the "gunk". In my husband's case, the boil never came back.

Omgsh so I just came across this interesting thread, for about a week I've had this boil on my butt at first it was just itchy and slightly uncomfortable. I called my grandma who is usually the queen of home remedies but she just told me to sit in a warm bath, instead I put a wet cloth in a baggy and put that on it every night with absolutely no results.

So this weekend while visiting my mom I mentioned it to get she bought me some salt pork (bacon cured in salty, saltier than the damn pacific) so I cut a piece and duct tape it to my butt, lol this sounds so ridiculous) I left it on for a few hours and took it off and it was draining, lots of blood and some pus. But it actually worked. Initially I thought she was joking but it does work, or it did for me. Is actually on right now. The pain had gotten so bad and the boil was so deep that it was actually putting pressure on a nerve and my entire leg had this numb dead feeling pain, super uncomfortable. It's still kind of hard, and painful to sit on, but the pressure is leaving. I'll leave it on for the rest of the night and see how it does in the morning.

I try everything natural. I do know that for those who have boils it takes a couple days and you must change the gauze in which you apply your paste to. I use white vinegar and baking soda, which does bubble up as you mix the two. It REALLY works and in between changing it apply a hot compress or hot bath helps it along faster. Baking soda and vinegar will draw out the infection. After you believe it's drained, a salt water bath will keep it from any further infection and a little tea tree oil on a gauze will speed up the healing of the broken skin too. White vinegar and baking soda, it works. Rachelknows

Turmeric, Medicinal Mushrooms

I have had boils since I was in my early 20's. I can honestly say that TUMRERIC has been the best defender for my condition. As years passed...my boils became more aggressive. I started to incorporate tumeric with a medicinal mushroom formula called "Fungi Perfecti Host Defense" found on Amazon. I have successfully gone through issues with boils using hot compresses, Itchammol Oinment directly on the location (find the head), along with the tumeric, and it opened within 24-28hrs and healed completely within 2-4 weeks. Combined with my doctor visits which prescribed me with an antibiotic called "Bactrim" when it gets really bad I can honestly say that my recurrent boils have ceased. I hope this continues for me and I hope this helps anyone else that has to deal with this horrible condition such as myself.

I have read through earth clinic for over two years now and recently I decided to begin posting the few cures I have found over time to work and writing on my own experience with them too. Hope this helps someone, as earth clinic has helped me so much.

Exactly a bit over two years ago I got several red little bumps on my armpit after shaving. They grew fast and it was very painful. One of them was even opened to be cleaned deep by a doc and she did not do a good job so I was miserable.

What I did was to apply coconut oil topically on the area until absorbed, about 4 to 5 times during the daytime. Bumps went away completely in 3 days. The oil I used was the cheapest coconut oil I could find in the foreign shops of Norway, pure but unrefined, not virgin.

When I got a tiny bump in that area again, I tried with other higher quality virgin coconut oil and I never got the same result as with the other cheap coconut oil. Coconut oil was really a bless! And did in 3 days what antibiotics could not do alone in 2 weeks.

After two years I got another boil but in a different area and this time coconut oil alone was not enough. However I can say for the armpit area it worked as a charm.

Multiple Remedies

Just wanted to update after applying the turmeric paste with added chamomile tincture, Rescue Remedy, and a drop of turmeric essential oil. These additions seemed to help considerably. The boil is gone, most of the redness is gone, the swelling is gone, the hard lump is gone. Friday evening, I had a purple/black lump the size of a marble on my chin. This is Sunday morning and I have a small, flat pinkish area that I expect to be almost fully healed by tomorrow morning. I was honestly shocked when I took the bandaid off this morning.

I've started applying the comfrey salve to speed the healing of the skin. I do have some peeling of the top layer of skin.

I'm a firm believer in attacking problems from multiple angles. I think turmeric is a powerful healer of boils, but I also think the combination of all the remedies I've been using have worked in harmony to heal my boil even faster than the turmeric would have on its own.

Multiple Remedies

I don't really know whether what I have are boils, cystic acne, or something else, but they start off like zits, rarely come to a head, and last a long time before they finally shrink down to a small, hard knot, that may or may not eventually (over months or years) disappear.

Right now I'm dealing with a particularly nasty one on my chin. I made the mistake of trying to squeeze it, and I could actually see the pus spreading out underneath the skin when I did that. I knew that meant the infection would be far worse, so I came here for remedies since Earthclinic is usually one of my first stops when I'm not sure what to do.

I have a large amount of high-quality organic turmeric powder on hand, because I already take it for inflammation, liver health, and cancer prevention. In fact, I was concerned it wouldn't work, because I am already taking it, so it seems like it should already have worked. But the reviews were so overwhelmingly positive, and I know that turmeric works better in larger doses, so I took it to a new level and it is definitely helping.

Here's what I'm doing: Starting yesterday, I increased my intake of turmeric substantially. I blend my turmeric with ground milk thistle seeds, ground schizandra berries and some ground black pepper, so I'm just taking half a teaspoon of that formula every couple of hours instead of three times a day. The milk thistle at that quantity isn't an issue, and I put a smaller proportion of schizandra than the other herbs in the formula, so I'm not worried about getting too much of that. I have less still of the black pepper, so again, I'm not concerned. I don't mess with capsules or mixing it with milk or water. Capsules are too time-consuming and expensive to make, and mixing it with water just prolongs the amount of time I'm tasting it. I just dump the powder into my mouth (under the tongue to avoid accidentally inhalation which is not fun! ), then take a large swig of warm water, swish it all around in my mouth, and swallow. No worse than taking a pill, really, and cheap and easy. I take a lot of different herbs this way, so I'm used to it and it doesn't bother me at all.

Milk thistle can cause diarrhea in some people so taking it with the turmeric could hypothetically help to prevent constipation (while simultaneously giving even more support to your liver than the turmeric already provides).

I also decided to apply turmeric externally. Before doing this, I held an ice cube on the boil for as long as I could stand it. Next, I soaked a large cotton ball in witch hazel, and added one drop each of tea tree, rosemary, and basil essential oils. I took these steps to try to eliminate some of the swelling and bruising.

Then I mixed up my turmeric paste. I didn't want it to dry to a crumbly powder, so I put about a teaspoon of turmeric in a small glass container with a sealable plastic lid and moistened it with raw honey. The honey makes it sticky enough to easily adhere to the boil and it doesn't dry out. The raw honey also has anti-bacterial benefits. I also added some black pepper, and about three drops of tea tree oil and one drop of oregano oil. I spread this mixture over the boil and covered it with a bandaid. I could tell within a couple of hours that it was getting smaller, but I left it on for about five or six hours. When I took the bandaid off, I could tell it had helped.

I cleaned it up, took a bath, held a warm, soaking wet washcloth on it (frequently re-warming the washcloth in the hot bath water). I also took a handful of epsom salts I moistened with bath water and spread this over the whole area. I let that sit a while, then rinsed it off.

After the bath, I covered the entire area in bentonite clay for about an hour or two. It was very soothing and cooling.

After rinsing the clay off, I re-applied the turmeric/honey paste, and covered it with another bandaid. This stayed on all night.

This morning, the large lump was less than half the size it was yesterday. It was still dark purple and angry looking, but I could see three white spots where pus had been draining out and continued to do so. The pad of the bandaid had three corresponding globs of pus on it. I did the bentonite clay application again for about an hour, then iced it again, then re-applied the turmeric paste and covered with a new bandaid.

This afternoon, the lump is almost gone. It's still purple, but seems to be getting better. I remembered that I have a bottle of turmeric essential oil, so I added a drop to that of my paste. I haven't re-applied since I added that, so I don't know if it will increase the effectiveness or not. I will try to update to let you know. I'm thinking of adding a couple of drops of Rescue Remedy as well and possibly some chamomile tincture for inflammation.

Once I feel like the infection has completely drained, I plan to start alternating two salves to help heal the skin. I made these salves myself. One of them is made from comfrey-infused oil and has added essential oils (basil, rosemary, marjoram, and eucalyptus) and the other is made from a mixture of chamomile-infused oil and calendula-infused oil, plus kukui nut oil, shea butter and essential oils (frankincense, spikenard, patchouli, copaiba balsam, ylang ylang, and myrrh).

Oh, I also started taking a daily dose of L-Lysine yesterday. I don't know if that's helping or not.

Overall, I'm very happy that things are moving along as quickly as they are. I don't expect this will be invisible by the time I have to go to work on Monday, but I think it's going to look a lot better than it would have if I hadn't done all of the above.

Ive been dealing with a boil for a few days when it became really bad over the day, yesterday.

By bedtime, I had a soft golf ball lump in my groin crease. The skin on inner upper thigh was a bright pink, hard to touch and swollen but the most painful part was the soft lump that had no sign of a pus head....not to mention it hurt to walk and the pressure of the underwear leg band was nearly unbearable.

I tried my tried and true Vicks in the beginning, then as it worsened I tried Silver gel which seemed to help but for some reason yesterday it flared up. I have Silver Sol but I didn't take it.

Last night I found this website and decided to try the tomato paste...

1. I "packed" the tomato paste into the groin crease and massaged some on the inflamed thigh area.

2. I wore boy short undies, centered a panty liner to cover the area.

3. 5-10 min later the pain was gone. I decided to take the Silver Sol, 1 tsp twice a day until healed.

4. I woke up today, still sore but not as bad. the boil drained on it's own during night with a clear pinkish drainage now.

I'm relieved that I won't have to go to urgent care! I wanted to avoid the drainage, packing and antibiotics. I'm also relieved that I'm not alone in having this problem.

I'm glad I found so many options. anyone will be able to find a remedy here as most items are basic pantry items. I'm not sure about the turmeric, I don't like funky spices but I would try it as a last resort as it seems to have the highest favorable results.

Thank you Earth Clinic!!

BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS

I got a boil on my elbow 4 days ago. I looked for remedies here and I found the ACV and baking soda paste treatment. I followed the procedure and applied the paste to the boil using a cotton swab and secure with a band-aid. When I removed the cotton at night I noticed that the boil started draining so I re-applied the paste before going to bed.

When I woke up the next morning, I checked the boil and was happy to see that it drained and started to dry out. I continued the application of the paste after taking a shower. However, that afternoon, I felt pain in my left knee and when I checked it, I saw 3 boils forming in a C pattern. I decided to apply the paste on them too. But the following day, a 4th boil formed on the same knee. So I have 4 boils now on my knee; 3 has pus in them and 1 is drying out. The one on my elbow did not fully dried out as I hoped and is now filled with pus on the edges. It grew even wider than before.

What am I to do now? Please help!

Lifestyle Changes

Hi friends,

I used to get boils almost every other month on thighs, buttocks etc. since couple of years and had to take antibiotics to cure the same. Now, I have not got any boils since more than a year after making certain lifestyle changes so would like to share about the same. I hope it helps.

Cause: Though I am not sure about exact reasons for getting boils, however following could have been the contributing factors in my case:

- Constipation

- Anemia

- Poor immunity level

- Poor nutrition, Consuming junk, greasy and sugary foods on frequent basis

- Drinking tap water

- Stress due to long working hours at work

- Lack of physical exercise

- Poor hygiene

- Tight fitting clothes

Steps which I followed to stop re-occurrence of boils ?

- Visited a Dermatologist who gave me a nasal ointment to be applied in nostrils. I continued this for a month.

- Dermatologist also gave me an antimicrobial/ antibacterial solution to bathe for underarms, thighs and buttocks. I continued this for 4 months and later started using antibacterial soaps for bathing, which are available at any local shops.

- Started drinking filtered water instead of tap water (Bought a water filter).

- Began practicing good personal hygiene by taking bath everyday, gently scrubbing using a loofah while showering once a week, cleaning clothes, undergarments, bedsheets, bathrooms and toilet seats on regular basis, etc.

- Included 30 to 45 mins of exercise in my daily routine, mainly yoga and deep-breathing exercises.

- Stopped wearing very tight fitting clothes and undergarments.

Diet changes:

- I was anemic, so cured that by taking supplements, and by having carrot-beetroot juice, dates and raisins on daily basis.

- I also had frequent constipation so included high-fiber foods such as oats, carrots, fruits, whole wheat, etc. to cure that. Stopped having junk, fried, greasy and sugary foods as much as possible.

- Followed detox diet for three weeks.

Beth0210 --- yes, according to Ayurveda statements, they both work. But they work in different ways. Here in the West, the dry form is mostly easier to procure. If you juice the root, your juicer could be orange forever. In India, people even hang the root from the neck for protection. Turmeric has special subtle powers which I have experienced myself. So it is not superstition.

After an illness, spray your body with a solution of water and turmeric to cleanse the subtle body of residues of unhealthy energies. This is widely used in India for that purpose. That is when I had an experience indicating it does work on subtle levels.
