Hello - In the spring I got some kind of apparent flu bug that caused unbelievable explosive diarrhea. Neither an otc product nor a prescription helped at all. For 2 weeks there was no let up. I read on the net that cayenne pepper can help as it kills bacteria. I began taking 2 capsules a day on a mostly, or totally, empty stomach with two glasses of water to prevent a burning sensation in my stomach. I started getting better in a day or two and in a week the explosive diarrhea was gone.

Thanks for your wonderful site!

Patricia

I have suffered from chronic diarrhea for sixteen years due to having Crohn's disease. I read on your site about using cayenne pepper for this. I went to GNC and bought cayenne pepper capsules and it is working great. I am concerned though that this may cause ulcers? Also, I have a colonoscopy scheduled soon and the bottle says to stop taking two weeks before surgery. I am wondering if that would apply to my procedure as well. I also wonder why I should stop taking it before surgery.

I've had very watery diarrhea for three days, and tried several things - cider vinegar, activated charcoal, turmeric, rice water - with no success.

I read something in a book of mine which suggested cheese. This seemed kind of counterintuitive, I've not been eating in the hope that this would run its course, but figured I would give it a go. So I had some cheese, and I was kind of hungry so it was welcome, and a couple of hours later another piece.

Well, I now feel so much better, no more rushing to the toilet. Apparently it sort of binds things up - whatever the case, it's worked.

I have had steady diarrhea for two weeks now. I became concerned when I woke up with a mess in my bed! I take alot of vitamins and herbs and thought that might be it. I stopped them all two days ago and no better. I found this site and was looking for something around the house I could use. I tried a tsp of cinnamon on two pieces of toast each with some sugar. That was over an hour ago and the pressure in my lower stomach is gone and I don't currently feel a "pressing need" to run to the toilet! Thanks! I'll keep doing this and see how it goes!

I have been experiencing very rough diarrhea the past week, and haven't been able to sleep in four days because I was kept away from my bed. I saw the remedy of cinnamon and made my own meal, simple toast with cinnamon sugar on top, and immediately my internal system calmed down. It's a very easy process that has helped me get back into a routine life.

I tried the cinnamon sugar toast recipe after having had diarrhea for five days. I made two slices before bed on the fifth night and went to bed. The next morning I didn't feel gas in my abdomen anymore. Then I put approximately one teaspoon of cinnamon in my oatmeal. By that night I was feeling 100% better.

Diarrhea (ailment) and Cinnamon (cure): My boyfriend had a stomach virus and was in awful pain. He was throwing up and using the bathroom around every 5-10 minutes. It was to the point where he had nothing left to expell but water and bile. I finally convinced him to drink a tea mix I made. I used- 1 cinnamon stick, broken up with a scissor a big pinch of ground ginger pinch of ground mustard a pinch of ground cloves (or 2 whole) I let it steep from boiling to drinkable temperature. He started getting better almost instantaneously. It stopped not only the diarrhea, but also the throwing up and the incredible pain. I never saw anything work so fast!

Does one drink the broken up pieces of cinnamon stick or just steep them?

I had a stomach virus and after 3 nights/days of diarrhea and stomach pain, I tried some over the counter drugs with no results. I was so desperate that I came across your website and I read the article on cinnamon tea. So I immediately tried it and it work about 3 hours after. So I continue to drink this tea for a few days and now I am perfect. Thanks for your information.

I have had reoccurring diarrhea for 3 weeks. I tried the cinnamon stick w/water and it really helped. I used 1 stick and 1 1/2 c water, added a little honey for sweetener and within 30 min my problem was better. The cramps got worse with the first few drinks but when the cup was gone so were the cramps. It has been hours and no diarrhea. I am so happy I found this site. Thanks for the post

Diarrhea Remedies: Use of calcium montmorillonite clay, especially with silver nitrate can be a very good way to resolve the bacteria, and bowel irritation and help absorb extra fluids to form a more consistent stool. Use a premium, food-grade product that is made in the USA.

Just wanted to agree with using clay for diarrhea. After getting a severe case of gastroenteritis one year that kept me on a couch for a week, I vowed never to get it again. After doing some research clay, activated charcoal and olive leaf extract became my line of defense.

I always keep Bentonite Clay on hand, along with some pills containing a mix of clay and charcoal from our local health food store.

I agree, and have found that a once a day shake containing 2 teaspoons of Psyllium, 1 teaspoon of flax meal, 1/2 teaspoon of Bentonite Clay,1 teaspoon of Inulin and 1/8 teaspoon of cayenne pepper is enough fiber to keep my stool firm and my bowels regular. Two things we need to take care of is our bowels and our liver. Those are priority # 1.

The inulin feeds your good bowel flora. The cayenne make it all work more better. The clay is an electrolyte which cause it all to flock as it passes through, giving you bulk. It you are a wine maker, you know this is the way you clarify your wine.

I am also in the process of making a green walnut tincture and a poke berry tincture here in East Tn. This is my first attempt at this chore. Naturally, I'm using white lightening from a moonshine friend of mine. That's the way we are here in the ridges. Just glad the auto was invented before my time least I would have had to marry a cousin up the hollar.

Just wanted to give a quick update to using clay for diarrhea. I am still using it, but found a simple way of drinking clay in it's powdered form as apposed to using the pills. I mix a half a cup to a full cup of milk, a half a teaspoon of blackstrap molasses, two or three level teaspoons of sugar (just to sweeten) and 3 or 4 teaspoons of clay or more. I put all this into one of those metallic "water bottles" and shake! Normally clay sticks a lot and is hard to get mixed well; you end up with clumps that's not a lot of fun. Doing it the way above mixes it evenly and it's just like drinking a milk shake; a dark, cloudy, evil looking milk shake, but a milk shake none the less. The taste is pretty good too. Works well for me! :-)

For almost immediate diarrhea remedy, take about 5 cloves and break them into easy to swallow pieces. Swallow with water.

Eat 3-4 (small) coconut macaroon cookies after your first episode and that will stop your diarrhea. I keep some in my freezer and just eat them when I need to. Works better than Imodium or anything else.

I don't have this issue (luckily- yet), but have heard coconut does work great for some people. The dose being 2 cookies per day or about the same amount of coconut.

Quick and easy cure for diarrhea, I don't know how it works but it does.

one coca cola, 2 regular alka selzters.

Pour coke in glass and add alka selzter; let it fizz. When fizzing stops, drink. Usually works instantly.
