Ginger Tea

I've had 10+ gallbladder attacks of varying intensity over the last year and tried various things including ACV and lemon juice but nothing works as well for me as ginger tea. It has always helped and in many cases allayed an attack. Once I feel better and get hungry again then I eat some simple carbs, this seems to help as well.

First of all as soon as I realize I am having a gallbladder attack I stop eating. Probably not recommended for diabetic folks and others who need steady blood sugar but this is absolutely crucial for me.

I boil (or have someone boil) a handful of peeled chopped ginger for 10 minutes or so. The concentration doesn't matter as I just dilute it if it's too spicy. The boiling time doesn't seem to matter either and I often leave ginger pieces sitting in the water after turning off the burner.

I drink a little and then lay down, sipping more at intervals. It helps me to lay on my left side and periodically turn and stretch The change in positions seems to help the gallbladder release the bile but of course when it's really bad I don't try to move at all.

I've sometimes taken the ginger with lemon as well.

This has only worked on an empty stomach. After the first couple of attacks I clued in on this. I wait until I feel better, and also hungry, to eat. Best foods for me after an attack are simple carbs--boiled potatoes mashed with a fork and some salt, or rice crackers if I have them, etc.

What seems to bring on my gall bladder attacks are: hot melted cheese, heavy creme, spicy mexican food, hot chocolate.

Best remedies: organic apple cider with apple cider vinegar, warmed up but not hot.

1 apple grated and mixed with 1-2 inch grated ginger root. (Both grated with a micro-plane grater)

20 drops of peppermint oil in warm peppermint tea.

Use one of these combinations but if you don't feel much better you can try any of the other remedies.

I recommend the grated apple-ginger in addition to any of these remedies.


Apple Cider Vinegar in Apple Juice

I have used apple cider vinegar for so many different purposes. Besides helping alkalize the body, I have found that it works great for people who are going through a full blown gallbladder attack.

The recipe that I have used is adding one or two tablespoons in an 8 ounce glass of organic apple juice at least 3 times a day. This really works miracles. But it does not take care of the actual cause which are gallstones or congestion. Only works if you are going through some gallbladder symptoms or as a preventive measure.

I ended up in the hospital Friday night with the most unbearable pain imaginable, it took 3 shots of pain killers to dull the pain. I had and ultrasound and I have gallstones. Still in pain I've been looking up everything possible when I say this. My sister kindly went to the store and picked up ACV and apple juice (they didn't have organic). I just drank 8 oz of Apple juice with 3 table spoons of ACV and the pain is gone. Thank all of you sooooo much. That did in ten minutes what 3 shots of strong painkillers failed to do.

I had many attacks prior to finding the solution here with ACV. That helped immensely with immediate relief. The interesting thing to note for me was that I had an Ayurvedic doctor tell me to take, upon first rising, 2 tsp ACV 1 tsp lemon juice mixed in a glass of water. I had done this religiously for almost 11 months and have had awesome results with no attacks. The funny thing (or uber painful thing) is that I just woke to a major attack and am feeling that my 2 days of missed morning ritual has had an effect on my system! I see how the effects of NOT taking my morning "alkalizer" I call it, can wreak havoc on me. Here it is Christmas morning at 3:14am and just having my symptoms slowly subside. Hmm, maybe I'll run into Santa! I truly believe that this morning "alkalizer" balances my system.

The side effects have been that I lost weight on it too! I follow the ACV lemon juice (all organic) with a glass of "sole" (pronounced So-lay). The water/salt solution of Himalayan sea salts and water from a jar. 1 tsp of Sole with water before or after the ACV mixture. For 1 thing it prevents me from having coffee first thing in the morning and know that it helps to bring my PH balance into alignment.

If you don't know, the most important thing is to have the body in an alkaline state... For most diseases do not live in an alkaline body, only in an acid body. Research this yourself. This was shared with me by my holistic practitioner. All good information to share for better health! Our bodies know what is wanted. BTW I know that my niece of 6 years craves the vinegary taste and likes just 1tsp ACV with water now and again. (At times she craves pickle juice). Well, my symptoms have subsided and know that I will not overindulge even though it is Christmas. Off to bed before I run into Santa and surprise him!

Whenever I felt a gall bladder attack coming on, I would drink about a quarter cup of regular (not kosher) dill pickle juice or eat a lemon and I found that within minutes the pain and nausea were gone.


Lecithin

After my first gall bladder attack, I began experiencing chronic gall bladder pain in the way of a constant ache in my back on the right side below my shoulder blade. After doing some reading about natural cures for gall bladder issues, I decided to start with Lecithin. Within a few weeks of taking (not pill form) Lecithin Granules in yogurt, my pain was almost completely gone. I started taking it in 2005 and it's now 2009. And so far I haven't had another attack. Sometimes I do experience a small ache after eating cold dairy or a fatty meal, but once I take a dose of lecithin the ache goes away. The other thing I want to stress is that changes in the diet must be made as well. Eat low fat meals, cut down on sugar, dairy and caffeine. I have found that organic dairy products are less likely to cause gall bladder pain. My Lecithin dose was twice a day. Two teaspoons in the morning and two teaspoons in the afternoon. I did this for a year, then after wards cut back to every other day, and then gradually down to a few times a week.
