Hemorrhoids were something that I never thought would happen to someone in their 20's. I have had 5 children all in a short span of time. With my first, I did not have hemorroids. The 2nd child, I started to feel hemorroids coming on. By my 5th child, I was having hemorrhoid surgery when I was 6 months pregnant and then again right after the baby was born. The doctor told me they were larger than anything he had ever seen before, and this is his profession! After the last surgery, he told I didnt have any veins left there so I would not have a problem. Within a few weeks, I knew I had hemorroids again, even if he told me that was impossible. Over the years, I went to a TCM doctor who told me I had too much fire in my liver. A drain fire supplement always worked at making them go away. Now into my 30's, I am pregnant with my 6th child and it wasn't long before my hemorroids started to flair. By the time I was 6 months pregnant, I thought for sure I was going to have to have surgery again. I had about 4 and they were clotted and about the size of my thumb and fingers. OUCH! Being pregnant, I knew I had to be careful with what I took. I ended up taking 500 mg of Rutin and 200 mg of B-6 at night. I already take a B complex in my prenatal protocol. I do take 1-2 capsules of an oxygen cleanser every other night to make sure constipation doesn't make things worse. Within a week, those clotted, painful, horrible hemorrhoids were back under control. I eat a raw diet and have a poop stool by my toilet for natural squatting BMs. For some reason, the pressure of the baby during pregnancy gives me problems. I give a hearty YES to Rutin and B-6.

I tried the B6, rutin and the 6 inch step and had excellent results within 2 weeks. Had minor hemmorhoids w/fissure on and off for atleast 6 months, nothing else worked, tried the zinc oxide, vit e, acv, vaseline, vicks, witch hazel, listerine, castor oil with no luck. within 2 weeks of daily supplementation of the b6, rutin and the step was all it took for pain, burning, itching and bleeding to subside. Thank you for your information.

I believed in the power of Rutin from reading other users comments. However, I was expecting faster results since I saw no change after about 10 days. After doing more research, I found that you can take much more than the 500mg per day that others have said. So, I upped the dosage to two 500mg pills morning and night (2,000mg per day). Note - I also read that you should take 500-1,000mg of vitamin C as rutin can interfere with your body's ability to absorb vitamin C from foods. Within 2 days of changing the dosage the my Hs are almost 100% gone!

Use cold water therapy. Dip your privates in cold water for at least two minutes up to four times a day. Either fill the tub with just enough cold water to cover the down under, or find a roomy bucket to sit in. I tried a plastic sitz bath from Amazon but prefer the tub. A roomy bucket was really good but was cutting into my hips. Result: no pain and healing. Dry well afterwards and put up with the undressing necessary.

No cost involved. Namaste, Om

The absolute best treatment for hemorrhoids (and believe me, I used to get my share of them) is a sitz bath filled with warm water and some witch hazel.

You can pick up a sitz bath at CVS, Walgreen's, etc. for only about $10-15 and get the witch hazel there as well.

You fill the sitz with nice warm water, add about a cup of witch hazel, then sit and soak for about 20 minutes a couple of times a day. Do it as often as you like, and keep a good sized glass or small container near you so that you can add warm water from the sink to the sitz when you feel that it's cooled. You want to keep the water warm for the entire 20 min's.

You will feel almost *instant* relief while soaking and within a couple of soaks, be feeling MUCH better.

Going forward, once the 'roid' is gone, the minute you feel something brewing down there, start with the sitz baths, and really... you'll be problem-free.

Spring Water

The whole story started a few years ago. In brief, I had problems with breathing. The doctor, professor of medicine, without any thorough examination for the possible reasons (most probably the reason was stress), prescribed antibiotics without any protection (ie. probiotics).

Well, in fact he examined the lungs and didn't find anything suspicious but anyway, preventatively, he prescribed antibiotics. I wasn't wise enough to protect myself on my own at that time.

After completing the treatment with antibiotics I contracted Clostridium difficile infection in a quite severe form. I was very reluctant to take another
antibiotic to kill the infection and that was the mistake. Eventually I took the prescribed metronidazole. Lucky for me it worked and fought the infection (the proof that antibiotics are not always so bad). Unfortunately I waited too long and as a result I got IBS-D (diarrhea form of irritable bowel syndrome). I guess, at that time my microbiota (microorganisms living in the guts) was completely messed up.

As a result of frequent discharging (about ten times a day) I developed internal hemorrhoids (bleeding during discharge, no pain). I tried the methods described on this site but without success.

I was depressed. Finally, without much hope, I switched, in my daily beverages (tea, coffee, water), from tap water to spring water bought at a local shop.
To my surprise, it worked. After three weeks bleeding disappeared, discharging stabilized at once a day on average (although still every couple of days in a liquid form).

I should also mention that this changing from tap to spring water helped my mother-in-law to stop stomach mucosa bleeding caused by tonnes of medicines she is taking. Before that she regularly, once a year, visited hospital to have blood transfusions.

As I am a man of reason, I tried to find some explanation for this. The only explanation which comes to my mind is the following one.

Tap water in my city (as I guess is the case in most places) is chlorinated ie. chlorine compounds are added to water during its treatment to disinfect it.

Chlorine acts on the body as a drying agent (you can notice the effect of dry skin when washing hands in chlorinated water and this is not only soap causing it) and probably, as a result intestinal mucosa becomes dried up, less flexible and more prone to mechanical microdamage during discharge.

As for my IBS-D, it is still there, but in a much milder form. I guess the reason is imbalanced microbiota in my intestines. Most probably I should change my diet to cure it. I know that first of all I should eliminate sugar, but I am simply addicted to it.

I hope this simple and inexpensive method will help the people with similar health problems.

Stone Root Extract (Collinsonia)

My go-to for the occasional hemorrhoids (once every 10 years or so) is Stone Root extract herbal tincture. At about 23 years old I became vegetarian. I am an avid athlete weight lifter and sadly I immediately lost over 50 lbs of lean hard muscle (and most of my strength too). Then while bearing down as I was trying to bench press (my previous warmup weight), I felt a burning pain in my butt. Doctor diagnosed hemorrhoids...with zero family history of this I was shocked. Doctor said "Welcome to it, it is very common with weight lifters."

I was only 160 lbs at that point having lost from my 210ish normal weight. I tried medications (all of them) and nothing worked. So I went to the health food store and asked the lady on the vitamin aisle. She smiled and said "Oh, yes, I have just the thing for you! Collinsonia, also called Stone root." I took a dropper full in the store and by bedtime 3 hours later I was "burning-itching-stabbing pain" free.

The next day I could pass stool without pain or blood. I kept getting them every month or so and kept taking stone root each time. Then I started eating meat again and they didn't come back for over 10 years of weight lifting and heavy lifting at work. Took stone root and gone.

Then in my early 40s, I got some that didn't go away with stone root alone (a different brand?), I had to drink fresh carrot and spinach juice 2 times a day for 3 days and GONE were the painful bleeding hemorrhoids. So, heavy lifting only causes them if you bear down deep. I learned to breathe and lift without ever doing that in the gym or on the toilet too...bearing down is foolish and dangerous.

Hope this helps some of you out there and many thanks to EC for all you do.

Wow, I have just tried the Tea Tree Oil remedy for Hemorrhoids after reading about it this morning on this amazingly helpful website............................... and it works! Instant relief for my inflamed and bleeding anus, and some internal irritation too. I am not saying this is a "cure" but it definitely calmed and cooled everything down on first contact.

I used it after applying my homemade "Vaseline", which is 4 parts Extra Virgin Olive Oil, to one part Beeswax ( plenty videos on Youtube on how to make it)............... we really do not want to be putting a Petrol based substance on sensitive skin or any way internal. Then I applied the Tea Tree Oil ( this is just cheap stuff out my local thrift store, so I thought it may not work LOL), and yes, instant relief and the area now actually feels "good" instead of sore and irritated.

So a massive thank you to everyone who posted about using this method.

PS. The Olive Oil is full of Vitamin E which helps the skin to heal and stay moisturised as well.

I am pregnant (8 months) and have tried nearly everything to help the pain and discomfort of my frequent external hemorrhoids. This was the only thing that actually helped. I did have to use the "technique" about once daily for 4-5 days, but they healed quicker with no more pain or discomfort. Thanks so much!

As to hemorrhoids the ones that are external, in other words that you can feel with your fingers. you can try putting any natural or over the counter ointment on them. eventually the hemorrhoids will retract and go back in to the body. But this could take hours sometimes and in the mean time there is pain. If quick relief is what you want take a shower and clean the area good with any soap. Ivory soap is good its 99% soap no oils or perfumes. after you are clean while in shower apply good amount of soap thru fingers. This will act like lubricant and gently with your middle finger not using your nails! push them back in! this works all the time the pain will leave you immediately. This was told to me by a nurse and till this day it works. Just remember -- change your eating habits cause you will get them again or operate them if you don't want to go thru hassle of always having to push them back in...

The old time remedy was a wet tobacco leaf, pressed against the offending item. The nicotine shrinks the blood vessels. You can get the plant at nurseries.

I have had an anal fissure along with internal piles for the last year. I cured myself for 5 months and have had some relapses in between. I initially started using the nitroglycerin ointment prescribed by the doctors, for 6 weeks to widen blood vessels and allow the area to heal. I got the headaches that were a side effect but nothing worse than the pain of the fissure and hemorrhoids. But a month after the fissure re tore and got the piles back to. I guess this was because I had high rectal pressure and a very dry anus.

So through experimenting I found turmeric powder mixed with either of these things; aloe Vera, castor oil, olive oil, tea tree oil, witch hazel, vitamin e oil - was helping. I would apply it directly to my fissure and piles every day once in the morning and evening. Lay on my side and let it soak in. Tumeric is a god send!!!

Occasionally I would crush half a piece of garlic coat it in oil and put this on my bum.. I wouldn't leave it on for longer than 10 minutes. I tried the apple cider vinegar topically which actually didn't work for me but I think that's because I have an internal pile so will have to drink the apple cider vinegar in water.

I have bought rutin and vitamin b6. Rutin I eat twice a day and vitamin b6 once. This apparently strengthens the colon wall which is what you want. I have upped my vitamin c and cod liver oil which I have found helps. Also, I am anemic which affects my red blood cells inevitably affecting the healing and inflammation. So it is important to know if your iron levels are ok..

I have upped my fibre (research soluble and insoluble fibre) I drink loads of water, I have found apples to be great. Started to drink green, peppermint tea which is good for your gut. Also eating garlic in yogurt(probiotic) 2-4 times a week. Having 2 sitz baths a day and massaging my bum, putting a hot water bottle on my bum so that I am relaxing muscles so that I can heal.. Changing your mindset is also important. I know it's easier said than done but try not to stress. I sit in a squatting position and always make sure my bum is clean but moisturised and lathered with Vaseline or aloe vera or oil because it promotes healing.. oddly enough I didn't find coconut oil worked for me because it acted as a coating but didn't moisturise or allow me to heal as it was acting as a barrier. I think keeping in the routine of doing these things is important to prevent reoccurrence.

Hi all. Hems, how annoying. I endured an internal one that would present itself during bowel movements with depressing regularity. Such an annoying and bothersome condition because you're daily reminded about it. Acv, coconut oil, garlic orally and suppository, more fibre, more water, more fruit, more exercise, molasses, cayenne you name it. I tried all of the things I read about here and sure I'm probably more healthy because of it but over a couple of years I have not seen any improvement.... Until about a week ago I started taking Tumeric. I cannot say for sure that it is the singular factor but the correlation of significant improvement with this condition and taking tumeric seems too close to ignore. I say improvement only because I'm still finding it hard to believe that the condition may actually be fixed as I approach with trepidation, every passing motion. People are here because, I guess like me, they prefer natural remedies, don't want surgery and aren't having luck with chemist bought stuff. If you've got hems you've probably done a stack of research and realise that why we get them is still open to conjecture. Some say candida, some say not enough fibre, straining on the toilet etc, in some way I guess you could link them all up as digestive. I'm not a doctor and the stuff I'm reading about Tumeric/Curcurmin talks about how it's anti inflammatory , antic bacterial and a natural liver detoxifier as well as a bunch of other ways its good for you. Anyway I just thought I'd add my experience to the list.

I take a couple of 500mg Tumeric/curcumin tablets with meals every day and after a few days I was surprised by an improvement ( I wasnt taking it explicitly for hemms ) and then after around a week things seem to have at least 90 percent improved, I say 90 percent, maybe its a 100 it's just that after a couple of years with it it's difficult to know what a "normal" bowel movement without a hemm appearing feels like. Anyway if you find yourself in a similar position to me you might want to give Tumeric/curcumin a try. The last thing I wanted to do was subject myself to surgery because of it. It's an annoying condition, like many I suppose, because its depressing and a constant annoyance but hopefully this is the factor that helped me and with many luck you too. Good luck and be patient finding something that will work.

I started taking turmeric for it's medicinal effects, and with great surprise and three weeks later, I no longer have hemorrhoids. I take 1160 mg a day in capsule form. I have tried everything, including ACV and other remedies. This works!
