Effective Natural Remedies for Knee Pain Relief

Apple Cider Vinegar

I bought 65% food grade hydrogen peroxide and started taking it as prescribed by recipe I found on internet. I was doing well until I got to 20 drops. I got very nauseated and had to start putting it in milk. My legs got very sore. I imagine that it is due to the cleansing process. I have now changed over to apple cider vinegar which has done away with the soreness in my legs and I am practically free from pain in my knees from Arthritis.

Using apple cider vinegar on hurt knee and rubbing dmso over that has helped tremendously also for a few days and then after that just a heating pad has helped tremendously.

DMSO

For knee pain I use DMS0 diluted from 99.9 percent down to 70 % using distilled water. I put the DMSO into a small spray bottle and put arnica spray or gel on first and then spray my knees and around the sides a bit down my leg.

Don't put on colored clothing right away as the DMS0 takes everything you put on the skin and sucks it into the tissue and into deeper parts of the body. Dyes on the pants could come off and get on your wet skin and the DMSO will take that into the tissues also.

Just sit around and let it get absorbed. Works wonders!! I can walk without any pain.

Power Plate
Posted by Gracie (Nottingham UK) on 08/18/2019

Approximately two years ago I had a knee replacement, and I'm never without discomfort in that area, but can manage to walk three miles or so. Also I have stiffness in my legs and hips after sitting for any length of time, and need to heave myself up to a standing position. Going up and down stairs/steps is also difficult as I do have balance problems caused by two episodes of labyrinthitis a few years back, and have to hold onto rails/banisters. I've taken countless supplements to remedy these issues but speaking truly nothing has really helped.

But I never give up the search. I've recently been looking into purchasing a vibrating power plate in the hope that it would help with circulation, muscle strength in my legs, thighs, lower back, and improve my general fitness. Or would I be wasting my money? I have read on the web that one person experienced a feeling of sea-sickness when using one. So I'm interested to learn whether any Earth Clinic readers have had any experience using a power plate and would they recommend one. I'm 80 years of age (pretty ancient, but young in spirit), female, and apart from the above problems keep fairly well.

Hi Gracie,

At a recent visit to Costco they had a vibration machine. I had my 91 year old father with me and we tried it out. My father could not tolerate it for the trial session and asked the representative to end his session early. Before you invest in one of these you should try one out first. The Power Plate one may be at a local gym near you, or you could wait for your nearest Costco to have their brand visit (Zaaz).

It would be listed on their web site. I am wondering if a joint replacement may be considered a contraindication for using a vibration plate? I suggest you look into Bio Electro Magnetic Energy Regulation (Bemer). I bought one of these for my father 10 to 12 weeks ago. He was having a lot of discomfort in his knees and hips, also having trouble getting around, so I was hoping to keep him in his own home a little longer. He uses it several times each day and has improved greatly. He is no longer having any pain in his knees or hips! You may find somewhere local to you where you can try it out or possibly rent one. Look into “The Five Tibetans”. These are gentle exercises and one of them helps very much with balance. I once heard author Joan Vernikos interviewed. She wrote the book, Sitting Kills, Moving Heals. She made the suggestion to stand up for two minutes every half hour (or something like that) to improve strength. Lastly, in your supplement trials have you tried serrapeptase for pain relief? Also, I recently saw one at Vitamin Shoppe that looks pretty impressive that has serrapeptase, nattokinase, lipase, protease, amla, papain, bromelain, rutin, and coenzyme q10 all together in one formula. The idea is to take these away from food on an empty stomach so they can travel throughout your body and break down fibrin, etc. Age is a state of mind and you sound pretty young to me!

I know these messes well. The boron tablets are different than the borax soap foot soak. I use a pinch in a 2 gal bucket and soak for an hour. ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE. Month one I did it once a week. Month two twice a week. Still a pain, here there and everywhere. One day the victory of complete mineral balance will manifest and I will be stronger again. Walter Last wrote a nice article on boron, as a biochemist, he shares a lot of information...google it

Gracie, why guess and worry? When you get the results you'll contemplate your next step (pun intended! ). Meanwhile you seem to be doing everything right. The only red light I see is the walking 5-6 miles. Might that have been excessive even if you didn't feel it was?

Apple Cider Vinegar, Blackstrap Molasses

I was having immense pain on my left knee which I knew the cause of. I had a knee surgery on my right knee for the same reason & same pain a few years back which was due to osteochondritis dissecans.

Pain to the point where I'd cry and fall if I made the wrong movement. Even if I didn't move my leg I'd feel a pinched nerve ache. It was just BAD.

I had forgotten about blackstrap molasses and what my mother & grandmother would tell me about it. Though their recipe contained a glass of regular temp water, a tbsp of apple cider vinegar & a tbsp of blackstrap molasses. LITERALLY, the next day the pain was nearly there. 2-3 days later I was able to walk pretty normally. I'm sure I won't even need surgery anymore!

Y'all should look into Apple Cider vinegar as well as Blackstrap Molasses. These two put together are life savers.

Can you please advice me what to do to relieve and heal my knee from this terrible pain, tenderness and squeezing sensation. Thank you in advance for your help

Gustavo: The best hypothesis at this point would be a chronic infection. If you have no metal medical device or part, Zapping will help. Borax, administered orally help w/ joint infection (read the cures section here on E.C. for more info). Magnet or light therapy may also help.

Gustavo: I cured my arthritis that I suffered from for many years making green smoothies from organic baby leaves. I walk 15 minutes then rest 5 minutes for 8 hours a day so I take a lot of stuff to keep my joints as loose as a goose, like skate liver oil. For immediate pain relief apply capsaicin cream.

I have been having knee pain for the last several weeks. I think my knee pain is caused from weight I gained. I have used the castor oil and it stopped and came back. I tried the Arnica and it still did not help. I see alot of post that they use the apple cider vinegar. I am going to try it. I start taking the tumeric and ginger about a week but I guess it is too soon to see the results.

Baking Soda

I am 31 years old and spent the last 20 years of my life being very active. I used to run 4-6 miles every morning and played tennis regularly. About 2 years ago I noticed a pain in my left knee. I saw doctor after doctor and the pain seemed to just get worse. I finally had an MRI and the Dr. said I had patella Tendinitis which is common. Many people have patella Tendinitis and continue to live and workout. I stopped working out completely and found myself becoming more and more sedentary. I live one block from the beautiful Pacific Ocean and I wouldn't even walk to the ocean because the pain in my knees had gotten that bad. I even started using a cane to get around. About 3 weeks ago my younger sister recommended that I boil some water and take 2Tbl spoons of ACV and that every morning I should drink 6oz of water with 1/4tsp of baking soda. I am an avid baker who has a gluten allergy so I never get to eat what I bake but I always have fresh baking soda on hand. I didn't have the ACV so I just started drinking the baking soda every morning and OMG I have been smiling from cheek to cheek because my pain has gone away. I am not running yet but I walk everywhere now. Baking Soda once a day has changed my life. After reading others stories I am going to start using the ACV because it sounds like it has many healthy benefits.

Heel Spurs: Extreme pain in my heels started suddenly and I didn't know what was happening. My boss said that she had had them and had been given very, very painful cortisone injections. She said this may help for 5 years. I hate needles, so remembering that castor oil was very good for many things, massaged it into my feet along with Vicks vapo rub or any similar product and within 2 weeks, no more pain. I then was able to go overseas and walk 5 miles and no pain except I had a huge water pouch on the bottom of my feet when I returned. Rested feet 2 days, water reabsorbed into body and have had no reoccurance for 10 years.

Also, just came home from Thailand with aching, dragging leg and sore knees. I read the blogs on black strap molasses and ACV and have been taking daily and muscle ache in leg has gone, knees much better, so am a happy camper. Just have to try not to overdo my walking and climbing steep steps at 75 years of age. Also used the castor oil and Vicks massage on knees. Don't know why this worked, but no harm in trying it to get relief.

Turmeric

I had knee pain for years. My knees were so swollen I could not even see them. The doctor prescribed NSAIDS, but I am not sure how much difference it made. I bought various things for arthritis, but nothing really helped. It did no harm. Then I started to read up on it, and most things i took contained Ginger, tumeric and others. I started taking Tumeric on its own 3 capsules a day and within 7 days my knees were almost pain free!!! i would recommend tumeric to anyone..

Knee Pain Exercise

Update on my knee pain. Now that I've been doing the leg stretches for 3 days (I've done them every 3-5 hours during the day), the knee pain (plus leg muscle pain) is 100% gone. I'm assuming that it would return if I stop the leg bend/stretches, so I'll continue to do them, just not as often.

How do you take the borax? Is it the same borax that is sold as a laundry aid?

One year ago I had problems with my knees (bending and stooping they felt like they were going to give out on me). I started taking turmeric and now I can bend and stoop with no problems. I take turmeric capsules, usually once a day, and also mix a little (1/4 teaspoon or so) in tomato juice. Still trying to find more ways to work it into my diet.

The ACV remedy using 1/2tsp of Baking Soda, 2 tbsp of ACV (_____s) and 4 oz of water does a great job of relieving the acid reflux I was suffering from. At first I was a little skeptical but it works...and works quickly. Additionally, when I can't use it, a Granny Smith apple helps relieve it but not as good. I was on Protonix for almost a year prior to trying ACV, this is a much better solution. I have recommended the site and remedy to many others. Side effect or coincidence? I noticed about 2 weeks after taking ACV that the pain I have had in my knees (had about 2yrs) was also relieved. I had been suffering with pain in my knees every evening to the point I had put a 'neck' pillow under them to help relieve it by slightly bending them...not any longer!:) Thanks Ted!!!

Eliminate Aspartame and Artificial Sweeteners

For about the last ten years I have had a pinched nerve in my neck. I am 40 and very active (yoga, lift weights, run, etc) It flared up on occasion when I would work out hard and I would injure my shoulder or neck, putting additional pressure on the nerve. About 18 months ago the pain got so severe that I was seriously considering surgery which would have fused some discs in my neck together (among other things). A business associate had mentioned that he had problems with his knees hurting when he drank diet coke, which i drank. As a last resort I quit drinking diet coke and about 4 weeks later the pain in my neck was down to manageable levels again. This lasted about until recently when it flared up again, I had recently started taking a new weightlifting supplement (powder) and upon closer inspection it contained aspartame. I talked to my doctor who had not heard anything about his particular side effect of aspartame, but we theorized that the additive caused small swelling to muscles which impinged my already narrow nerve openings. needles to say, I have cut aspartame back out of my diet.
