If it says Apple Flavored Vinegar, it is distilled vinegar with apple flavoring. If it says Apple Cider Vinegar, it is apple juice fermented to convert the sugar in the juice into alcohol, then fermented again to convert the alcohol into acetic acid. If it says "distilled" anywhere on the container, it is not apple cider vinegar.

I'm also in Japan & I came across apple cider vinegar in Sogo Department Supermarket. It was in a small section right at the back with a few other organic products. There was also some black strap molasses which i i picked up! I know the apple vinegar you are talking about, but it is NOT apple cider vinegar!

It is the literal translation of apple cider vinegar but not the one that is used. The one that is used is not written in Katakana and Kanji, it is just written in Katakana(to show that it is a foreign product and not native to Japan). I made a mistake in the romaji before, if you want to write it properly in Katakana please type in on your keyboard it like this "appurusaida-binega-"(make sure you hit F7 on your keyboard to change it to Katakana from Hiragana and you need the dash'es "-" in the correct places). If you want to find _____ brand apple cider vinegar, just include bragg in your search like so, "braggappurusaida-binega-" *REMEMBER* Do not convert "bragg" into Katakana only the "appurusaida-binega-" part, as "bragg" is impossible to write in Katakana anyways. So you have the bragg written in English and the "appurusaida-binega-" written in Japanese Katakana, no spaces, remember Japanese don't use spaces. PICK THE ONE WHOSE INGREDIENTS SAY; APPLES OR APPLE CIDER VINEGAR & REDUCED with water to 5% acidity (5% acetic acid. Most all the others are going to be distilled acetic acid and some are colored to look like apple cider vinegar.

You can get it at any hypermarket such as Giant or Carrefour. Went to Giant just now but they run out of stock.

So I bought 1 bottle from Guardian although it's RM 3 more expensive than the price at Giant. Remember, look for the organic type with "Mother" in it. The organic brand will cost you RM 20.90

In Mauritius, it's available under the Casino & Fuchs Saveurs. Both Brands r available from Jumbo n Spar. Unfortunately, they r not Organic Products. Some Years ago, we had a very popular/good if not Best product from England (Martlet Apple Cider Vinegar) but is no more available.

Best brand I've found so far is Wescobee (without honey) - you can get it at Way supermarkets. I use it myself and also recommend this to my patients - I am a naturopathic clinical dietitian.

I am now living in Tacxo, Mexico and going crazy looking ACV. I even called my favorite brand (which has the mother) back in the USA to see if they could send it down here. That same company (sorry I cannot say which one) also makes a couple of other amazing products which I am hoping they will send down. Will keep you posted.
