I have suffered with Fibromyalgia/Rosacea and TMJ for over 10 years... My first symptoms appeared shortly after I began taking Paxil. After about 8 months when I found the Paxil side effects intolerable, my doctor switched me to Prozac. Well...within 2 years, I had gained 75 pound, couldn't get my temperature to a normal 98.6 (it wouldn't budge above 96.6), broke out with a fierce case of Rosacea (skin blistering & pealing in layers off my cheeks), was chronically fatigued and suffered from TMJ symptoms.

After reading the FLUORIDE information on EarthClinc and researching the chemical formulas of the many antidepressants that I had taken over the last 10 years, I had an epiphany...My problem was FLUORIDE!!! Incidentally, the symptoms of FLUORIDE TOXICITY are the same as Fibromyalgia so it wasn't surprising to learn that FLUORIDE is the primary ingredient in MANY widely prescribed antidepressants, including PAXIL and PROZAC!!!

Without delay, I began adding 1/8 tsp of BORAX and 1/8 tsp of NATURAL (UN-bleached) SEA SALT to a liter of
DE-CLORINATED water. This regimine just happens to both neutralize the FLUORIDE and KILL the nasty mites that cause Rosacea.

I began drinking 1 liter per day for 5 days. On the 2 off days, I simply drank purified, bottled spring water.

The results were nothing short of MIRACULOUS, within two weeks my face cleared, the redness faded and best of all, my temperature normalized TO 98.6 and my energy level began to steadily increased. (Do expect the break out to get worse before it gets better as the mites die off.)

In just one month, without dieting or changing my daily routine (other than adding BORAX & SEA SALT to my drinking water), I dropped 4 pounds and I continue to drop weight at about a pound a week. I attribute this to my increased body temperature and elevated metabolism.

ALSO...when I eliminated the FLUORIDE in my toothpaste, my gums stopped swelling and bleeding and all PREVIOUS phantom tooth/jaw pain simply disappeared.

Thank you, EarthClinc and Ted...The information you shared has truely been a blessing in my life...I wholeheartedly encourage anyone that is suffering with FIBROMYALGIA, CHRONIC FATIGUE, TMJ or ROSACEA to try this simple remedy as I have had only POSITIVE results and absolutely NO SIDE EFFECTS!!!

Incidently, this BORAX & SEA SALT water is extremely ALKALINE with a pH between 8 - 9 pH.

Borax was used to remove fluoride poisoning in a Rabbit study given toxic doses of fluoride. Boron is also a required mineral. The doses of boric acid (which is more toxic then borax) in the study quoted is estimated at doses of roughly 4.5 g to 4.90 grams/kg, would be equivalent of taking boric acid (which equivalent) in a typical 70 kg adult of 4.5x70 grams to 4.98 x 70 grams. The idea of fluoride removal using borax was based on a toxicity research on giving fluoride at toxic dose, rabbits fed on borax were protected from the fluoride poisoning. If there is difficulty in using fluoride or obtaining them, it's possible to eat tamarind which is also an good chelation agent of fluoride too, however, borax has a unique property in being less toxic then boric acid, and it's alkaline, but it's also a required mineral and normalizes hormone level. Different studies used higher LD50 on borax toxicity, but I used a much lower figures about 2 grams/kg, where the toxicity is equivalent to salt, which has a value roughly 2 grams/kg weight also. A chelation agent of mineral I can use humic acid, zeolite, or a mixture of humic acid and zeolite together also. However, humic acid interestingly enough lowers excitotoxicity (aspartate and glutamate) that's found high in ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) and aspartame poisoning, found in many sugar free products, one interesting side effect is the desire to pee every 30 minutes or so throughout the day. It takes about 1-4 weeks to remove this extreme urinary urgency. Fluoride on the other hand has a suppressive effect, but both together cause (with aspartame) caused extreme sleeplessness and apathy at even low doses, found in fluoridation and fluoridated toothpaste. As to whether borax removes or chelate fluoride, the idea of chelation requires more chemical analysis at a molecular level, and i can't find a research study on that one. However, there is increase in fluoride excretion when borax for example, implying the removal of fluoride, and possibly chelation of fluoride. In which case the level of toxic reaction to fluoride is removed whenever fluoride is taken at toxic doses, and using the borax, for example, as the antidote. The idea of using borax is based on subacute doses of luoride poisoning, which is a common one given the excessive fluoride consumption, is based on this study:

Fluoride 1981; 14(1):21-29

Boron as antidote to fluoride: effect on bones and claws in subacute intoxication of rabbits

Elsair J, Merad R, Denine R, Azzouz M, Khelfat K, Hamrour M, Alamir B, Benali S, Reggabi M

Laboratories of Physiology, Toxicology and Galenic Pharmacy, Medical Institute, Algiers, Algeria

Summary: Rabbits were "subacutely" intoxicated by administration of 30 mg/kg/day of fluoride for 3 months followed by 15 mg/kg/day for a subsequent 3 months (F). Boron was given alone (B) as preventive and simultaneously with fluoride prophylactically (F + Bp), as well as therapeutically namely midway during the experimental period (F + Bpc) while fluoride was being administered and after it was discontinued (Bc compared with fluoirde interuption F*), at a constant F/B ratio. All groups were compared to normal controls.

Boron administered during fluoride intoxication or after its interruption, reduces fluoremia and increases urinary fluoride excretion. Skeletal fluoride levels are directly relatd to those of claws. They bear no relationship to fluoride in hair. The high fluoride content in bone in lot F decreases with addition of boron. It is still high in lot F* but returns to normal in loc Bc. Calcium content of bones remains normal in all lots. Posterior pad radiography shows a cortical thickness in lot F which is less pronounced in lots F + Bpc and F*, and returns to normal in lot Bc.
-----------------------------

If a person were to take very high amounts of fluoride, then you need a combination of other remedies including tamarind, and grinded seeds of tamarind, which is also used to detox fluoride in the environment, especially the tamarind seed powder, or possibly tamarind seed extract. Unfortunately tamarind is a food and is not a required mineral as in boron, so it's considered a fruit, but can also be used to remove fluoride. Tamarind is a common candy in Thailand and is easily available here and is used in preparing various food delicacy here in Thailand also. It's not possible to prove the chelation of fluoride per se, but researchers assume they do, and from a practical point of view, as a consumer, it reduces fluoride toxicity and subacute doses, and that I find it just fine for most applications.

Boiron USA makes a homeopathic borax tablet which can be purchased at most healthfood stores (some of which didn't even know they had it). It comes in a tiny plastic tube and can only be marketed to cure canker sores per FDA. I have found it in a 30C and 6C version. I am currently taking the 30C version at three micro tablets per day for flouride poisoning and will post results as they happen. Stay healthy stay strong.

--------------------------------------------

08/05/2010 Update:

After 3 days on Borax microtablets for flouride poisoning I have a few things to report:

First and foremost was an amazing side effect that I didn't expect. I have experienced what I call "floaties" in my eyes, these are black hazy spots that move when I move my head, that I have had for years and are now gone. After day one my vision was a little blurry, but after day 2 no more blur and no more floaties. It wasn't till after day three that I was really shocked. As I was driving to work I passed a sign that I hadn't been able to read for years and I read the sign. I immediately called my wife and read to her all the license plates of the cars in front of me, which I haven't been able to do. Finally, I could make out the pine needles on the pine tree in my back yard, yet another pleasant surprise. I did experience some extra joint pain and it definitely fired up my kidneys but both subsided after day 2. I did experience the testicular pain and found this was probably due to the high levels of sodium in the area which flouride tends to bind to easily. Boiron recommends using product for only 3 days at a time and I am currently on a break. I definitely recommend this product to anyone who's flouride levels are high.

Many thanks to Mick for letting us know about the homeopathic version of borax. For some reason, I had a tough time finding the product based on Mick's two posts while searching on Google. I finally found it on Amazon.com (once I plugged in the right key words) and ordered a pack of 5 over the weekend. Just got them yesterday.

Here's the 5-pack I bought on Amazon. You can also buy single packs.

If you want to search Google Shopping, here's the link.

For those who, like me, find it impossible to read the tiny print on the container, it says: "5 pellets in the mouth three times a day until symptoms subside." As mentioned by Mick, this product is used for canker sores.

Homeopathy is an energy medicine. It changes the water itself. That is why the more diluted it is, the more power it has. The medicine is in the water/alcohol. Not really in the substance although the substance helps change the water.

You have to take a break of 4 weeks when using C Potencies in Homeopathy, the higher the potency the longer it lasts in your blood (unless u drink coffee, which is one of the biggest antidote of Homeopathy) do not repeat too often u could get "proving" symptoms of th e Remedy, so less is more, also its not about quantity but about quality one pellet goes a long way it last 4 weeks in blood and does its job. Only in very acute conditions one can repeat more often, (and then its better to use LM Potencies then C)in chronic conditions once a month is enough.

Tried borax for almost 2 weeks

Hi, I tried borax starting with about 1/32 a teaspoon and working up to 1/4 teaspoon, and I had a negative reaction to it. I only used it for about 2 weeks total, but for the last 3 weeks, since I stopped using it, I have had kidney, testicle, and head aches. The pain in my testicles and my headaches mostly stopped about a week ago, but I am still having problems with kidney pain.

Incidentally the pain decreased when I introduced calcium/magnesium in a 2:1 formula, as I knew that magnesium was good for kidney health, but the other pains continued and I just had to stop in fear of might be happening. I still am having kidney pain - only light pain now - occasionally throughout the day, especially at night when trying to sleep. I REALLY wish I hadn't tried the borax (20 mule team).

I am still looking for an alternative to the borax! As now that I think about family members, I see 3 different conditions that are probably caused by fluoride. Thanks for the information though I wish I hadn't participated in the borax 'trial'.

I have the same side effects. I found the tablets as opposed to the powder helpful, but only after at least a 7 day cleanse of the colon and iodine. I used a 7 day ultimate cleanse, which offers both. (Can't clean the deep parts without a clean pathway out, sort through of.) I actually did a 14 day cleanse with 2 days break in the middle. All cleansing will cause some discomfort at the beginning, however. Bless you, I hope this helps!

The kidney pain may be due to the alkalinity of borax affecting preexisting kidney stones. Drinking a glass of water with a tablespoon of raw apple cider vinegar a few times a day may fix it. Other remedies for kidney stones are available elsewhere on EarthClinic.

With any detox, the kidneys should always be tested first before starting and strengthened if necessary otherwise the outcome will be unnecessarily less than expected and sometimes significantly negative.

A product (Kidney MTX) will usually prevent the negative reactions and resolve if they occur.

This may be because of die off symptoms and clogging of the detoxing organs. If we have "reactions" to natural elements its typically from not preparing the body prior to eliminate what we are about to fight.

BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS

A few years ago I used Borax to reduce fluoride and got a rash on my hands and feet. This is a classical sign of Borax / boron poisoning (I really don't consider it a real poisoning).

Since I really liked what Borax did for me, until I got the rash,I thought if I ever find a way to get ride of the rash I must share it. Mostly because I lost about 15 pounds in 15 weeks while taking Borax (seems that's another side effect of "Borax poisoning").

The thing that worked for me was taking niacin to flush. So you don't want to use flushless niacin. 500 mg to 1000 mg does it for me. I do it as soon as I wake up for the day.

Seems the niacin flush opens the capularies wider and alows larger particles to get out of the hands and feet. The palms of the hands and the soles of the feet are where the Borax rash occurs. It takes awhile to get completely clear of the boran that acumulates there, But releaf from the rash only takes days.

Here's the interesting thing; to make the flushing of boron faster you actually have to quit the niacin until the rash comes back. Then you restart the niacin and it clears up again. In my case this worked asimetricaly. First the sole of my left foot cleared up, then my right palm. After that my right sole and then my left palm.

And now I am clear of Borax / boron poisoning. So now I can take Borax again. It did take a couple of years to get back to normal for me. But if I had figured out how to do the "use niacin for a month and quit until the rash comes backs and start niacin again" I think I could have cleared this up in four to six months.

The possible reason I might have had born acumulation is because I may have smaller capularies than other people.

I don't consider "Borax / boron poisoning" to be a real poisoning because really only the rash and the weightloss are the only side effects.

And the reason I wanted to publish this here is because I don't want any of you to be hesitent to use Borax because of my last post where I said I had gotten the boron rash. And because Borax is safe and effective.

The only rash I have reported from borax came from Morgellon's Disease, Lyme, and Lupus that flushes out the nanoinsects and mycoplasma that lies deep into the system. It seems the use of niacin made the autoimmune disorder worse. So the rash is not a poisoning it's an autoimmunity. I still have a large box of nanoinsects where they come out on the skin, from one of the earthclinic reader, that are in the millions sitting on my desk. It killed off the nanoinsect which surfaces. The niacin is a double edged sword. In one cases the use of morgellons' got worse in another case, the taking of niacin together with borax killed the nanoinsect much faster. Therefore the rash if it is non-Mogellons, turns out to be a mycoplasma that seems to cause the joint pain.

As to the weight loss some, not all, will have that benefit from borax. The issue is if a person has low hormones or low blood boron, the supplementation of boron raises the bodys' hormones (e.g. growth hormone, sex hormone - it works like a viagra) and cause the body's metabolism to burn the fat faster. In fact boron it self is a surfactant that increases the body's hormone's efficiency even if the hormones is still low. In fact fats and oils lowers the body's hormones by blocking them, while surfactants, such as boron and lecithin helps hormones to function normally by removing the fats from blocking as it is soluble to the surfactant.

I don't support or condone the use of boron, but I find it necessary still for removal of fluoride which is a lot more toxic then boron, and still I don't use everyday either, but in conditions of autoimmune disease, Morgellon's, Lupus, these condition are very debilitating to the point that one case the debilitation lasted about two decades before the recovery is possible upon supplementation with baking soda, potassium citrate and borax.

A proper use of borax is to dissolve in one liter of water 1/8 or 1/4 teaspoon. In event of colder climates the solubility of borax maybe reduced.so it may have to be dissolved in two liter of water. What I suspect however is that borax was not dissolved in a liter to two liter of drinking water here.

The other issue if niacin if not properly used can make the condition worse in event of an autoimmunity and is not likely will be posted as a remedy and used only as a last resort , after alkalizing remedy is used, and EDTA is used. Most of the cloggings or rashes after examining if it is not nanoinsects, mycoplasma, Morgellons, and bacteria that is deep inside the body, usually existing in the joints Then hydrogen peroxide drops is used too, If those were eliminated, than what I found is the enormous calcification that occurs whenever fluoride is of high level. It's the calcium that clogs the capillaries. The counter remedy to reduce calcium (fluoride tends to increase blood calcium as is metabolic acidosis). And therefore a more useful remedy is to reduce blood calcium to normal levels using the lemon and baking soda, which is a citrate, or a more stronger disodium EDTA, pH buffered to 7.5 pH. Citrate can also chelate out the excess calcium but alkalization also reduces the leeching effects that occurs with blood acidity.

Therefore to prevent further problems of excessive blood calcium, it is often the alkalization that has to be added. A borax is never taken directly but is always diluted with plenty of water, such as a liter of water. Quite often most of the problems I have encountered with borax used is instructions were not followed, and the dose exceeded the instructions, or not understanding proper alkalization during borax use, which is required if the body already had metabolic acidosis. If blood calcium is high it is also good to use the lemon and baking soda remedy where the resulting reaction is a citrate which reduces the blood calcium too. Weight loss is often from the effects of surfactant properties in removing excessive oils that blocks normal hormone functioning that causes weight gains in some people who already had high blood fats.

After reading the info on fluoride on Earth Clinic I realised that the onset of my severe hypothyroid symptoms of extreme fatigue, weight gain, hair loss etc. was caused by taking repeated doses of Flucanazole to prevent yeast during repeated antibiotics for acute asthma [healed after 90 days on Zithromax]. My TSH [thyroid stimulating hormone] is less than .01 which shows hyperthyroidism so I have had a hard time finding a doctor willing to treat me. Now I know it is because the fluoride inhibits the pituitary gland from producing TSH. I live in a fluoridated community so my exposure has been long term. For several years I have had reverse osmosis water but it is very disappointing to find there is no acceptable whole house removal system. It was recommended to me to take cool showers as skin absorption is greater than drinking. I am hoping to convince our city council to drop the fluoride. I was happy to hear that borax can be used for detox. Yesterday I mixed 1/8 tsp of borax and sea salt in one L of water. During the night I awoke with a headache. By morning it was so bad that I vomited the aspirin, snack and enzymes I took to combat it. I couldn't keep anything other than sips down without dry heaves until early evening.I am thinking that is a detox reaction. I am going to hold off another day and dilute it further. I currently take Armour Thyroid and about $400 of supplements, mainly enzymes to prevent reflux, keep spinal alignment, joint stiffness, fatigue, sinus infections, constipation, hair loss and all those other nasty hypothyroid effects. I was also taking the apple cider vinegar and baking soda [about 8 days now] at the same time so may be that was too much at once with the borax. I will keep you posted on my progress. Thank you for this wonderful website.

I had been treated with zithromax for pneumonia but what seemed to trigger the severe, sudden onset of reflux was taking 200mg of ibuprofen twice within the week for pain in my neck during that time. The ibuprofen caused a gastric ulcer since I had been on periodic courses of prednisone earlier for acute asthma which resolved after seven weeks of antibiotics. When I got the pneumonia I had no asthma but a high fever, fatigue and pain in the neck. Steroids can cause ulcers but I didn't think the effect would last that long as I was not taking any at the time. I woke up choking at night with reflux and started protonix. Stopped after about one year and since use digestive enzymes, honey, camomile, ACV with baking soda. Caution: Prevacid ia a fluoridated medication. Along with the reflux, I began severe hypothyroid symptoms I believe caused by Diflucan and Advair which are both fluoridated. Have been doing the borax detox twice a week and have reduced thyroid medication from 3 1/2 to 2 1/2 gr Armour.

Fungal Infections

I have been trying to get rid of a fungal infection on my feet that I have had for years. Athlete's foot and now, in the past, 2 years, severely cracked heels (a sign of fungus, I have read). The over-the-counter creams that I have used do work, but they don't work permanently: the infection just moves around and later returns.

After reading up on the many of the remedies on Earth Clinic, I decided to make up my own recipe for a foot bath. So for the past 4 days, I have done the following:
3 heaping tablespoons of borax (20 mule team) dissolved in hot water, then added to a large tupperware storage container (cheap and perfect size for 2 feet).
Add 1 cup of apple cider vinegar.
Add enough hot water to cover my the bottoms of my feet and ankles.
I soak my feet for 10-15 minutes every morning.

I can't tell you at this point if it will cure the fungal infection. What I can tell you is that after 9 minutes, I get a very powerful taste in my mouth. It is the same taste I get when I am taking supplements to detox from heavy metals. What's weird is that it happens every day at the 9 minute mark. (Coincidentally, oil pulling causes my sinuses to open at the 9 minute mark too). I think that this foot soak may be a powerful way to detox from heavy metals, particularly fluoride. I hope other people will give it a try and give me their opinions. I will report back with more results in a week or two.

If you drink tap water you are kinda defeating the purpose. The borax will stay busy detoxing incoming fluoride and never get around to the accumulation in your body. You need to discontinue the use of fluoridated water for any drinking or cooking and use only nonfluoride tooth products. I'd say in your tea is fine but make the tea with distilled water or mineral water

I read in the post awhile back about a man that had jock itch for years and washed with borax and it immediately felt better. Well I tried over the counter remedies and was going to go to the doctor to get something because it itching for a couple of months was becoming unbearable.

I tried different oils and it seemed to make the situation feel better, but no real change. I started using ACV and slowly I saw where the area was being cured. However, after dampening my cloth, sprinkling borax on it (the muletrain type), and washing with it, the itch IMMEDIATELY went away. after washing with it twice a day for 2 days, it seemed the entire rash was healed.

I now use borax as a body scrub and have a toenail fungus that I am going to try it on. I am using ACV, and it is slowly going away. But, if it worked that quick on the jockitch, Im sure it will knock out the toe fungus too.

I need clarification on just how much borax weekly and daily. Ted's instructions are 1/8 tsp per liter taken weekly in divided doses throughout the day. Does this mean 1/8 tsp per liter everyday throughout the week or all of it in one day? And only one day. Need clarification if I am going to do it.

Hi Richard... Ted's Borax remedy entails that you do the following:

* Mix 1/8 tspn(for women) or 1/4 tspn(for men) in one liter of water.

* Drink one liter of this mixture every day for only four days a week. So, that's for days taking the mixture then three days off the mixture every week.

Hello: I am newly introduced to the concept of Borax for healing. And many posts that suggest 20 Mule Team Borax, sold in the USA, is for human ingestion, especially because 1/8 tsp is dissolved in 1 liter water. However, I am looking at the 20 Mule Team box now and its side panel specifically states the following:

#1. It's ingredients is Sodium Tetraborate (a synonym for Sodium borate decahydrate or Borax). The box further states it contains no phosphates or chlorine.

#2. The box further states that its contents are not to be taken internally, first aid for ingestion is to drink milk or water/do not induce vomiting, call a physician immediately, not for drug use.

I've got an eMail into 20 Mule Team now to have them further qualify their no ingestion order.

What's the deal? Is 20 Mule Team Borax safe or not safe for ingestion--please provide real reasons why. Thanks.

It is safe just follow the instructions on the bottle, You can buy it at most stores where they have a health food section or just do web search and go to trusted source like A____ and they will deliver it to your door! I hope that helps people.
