Black Tea

I tried Darlene's black tea hair rinse suggestion starting in mid December when she posted it. I just want to say I really like it. My hair is medium brown and every 9 months or so, I have a few highlights put in at a salon. I don't have a lot of gray, but, unlike Darlene, this tea rinse does not cover all my gray roots. We all have different hair. I like the tea idea because I am able to use it to refresh my color. My routine is that very 6 weeks or so, I color my roots by mixing up a little permanent dye I order online (initials MR). Previous to this tea idea, I would mix a little of the dye and activator into some shampoo to tone down the redness and brassiness that develop. That allowed me to only have to color my whole head of hair twice a year. My old method works great for me, but tea is more natural, is working just as well to recharge the color, and is certainly less expensive. The night before the tea treatment, I work some coconut oil into my hair while I watch a little tv, then sleep on it. Next morning, I steep 2 large black tea bags in a 2 handled kettle, which I set in the shower floor. After I shampoo and squeeze out the water, I pick up the kettle and do a few dunks of my hair on each side. Then I rinse and condition. If I don't do it too often, it doesn't erase my highlights. Very kind of you, Darlene, to share your idea.

Black Tea

Just want to let you know there is a natural remedy for gray or graying hair: Black tea! Yep you read right. Just plain old black tea along with either (coconut oil or olive oil ) as a mixture because the tea tends to dry the hair. Rinse with this and you will see the difference almost immediately. For sure with the second time you shampoo your hair and use the tea rinse.

Just google black tea as a hair rinse. I purchase the inexpensive brands from $Tree stores or any discount stores in the area. Some of the even carry Earl Grey tea which works really well.
