I took 4,000 IU of a high-quality vitamin E every day for six weeks to eliminate liver spots on my face that had developed.

Did you take the 4000 IU internally or just put it on your face externally?

Mark, since Maria hasn't responded, I am guessing she took that much orally.

I'd say orally, because it says "took" instead of "applied".

I don't see many posts on importance of Vitamin E, it's weird. I've been taking a capsule of natural Vitamin E for years and it is the most important supplement in my opinion. Nails are strong and skin is soft and supple. Menopausing women need Vit E!

I have used vitamin E for some time, while I was a bodybuilder, as it aids recuperation. But more recently I have been using it, as part of my regime to lower my high cholesterol.

I also do a lot of writing that demand a lot of intellectual, input. This is where it became apparent that vitamin E actually boosts intellectual competence. But that is not the whole story. It only works in intellectual favour if taken in the morning, which implies during the first three hours after you have wakened. If you take it after lunch or the evening it has no noticeable effect at all on boosting intellectual competence.

But, while that may seem appealing, there is one downer, in the equation of the practice. Taken in the morning vitamin E makes you moody and intolerant of anything negative you may encounter. This may not seem much, but those down points were to such extent that led to me changing the time I am taking vitamin E in the evening, before going to sleep. And I am now back to my cheerful and tolerant self, again. And I do not care if my books suffer as consequence, which will give you an idea of how bad the negative influence, was. But it does wonders for intellectual competence, which implies the negative effect on the emotions is a real shame.

The dosage I am taking is one 400 IU softgel capsule of vitamin E (as d-alpha tocopherol plus mixed tocopherols), daily.

The vitamin dosages suggested are mega doses, way above the RDA (Recommended Daily Allowance). So please do not follow on, on any tips I give here on this site from my own vitamin regime experiences, without first consulting a competent practitioner (doctor or nutritionist).

For decades my wife has taken 5 or 6 400iu Vitamin E tablets before doing unaccustomed exercise, moving, extra gardening, etc. with no stiffness or aches after. If she forgets to take them she has all the normal problems that follow these actions. She then has to take two to three times the dosage several time to get rid of the aches. For some reason I am one of the lucky ones and rarely have any aches following an unaccustomed exercise but the vitamin E works well for her.

Skin Bruising

Hey EC....quick question guys...whenever I use vitamin E, I always notice bruising on my skin that seemingly comes out of nowhere sometimes just the next day. Anyone knows why this is happening? I am hypothyroid...Thank you guys...awaiting a quick response.

Hello Lauren,

Re taking Vitamin E and problem with skin...

Never heard of such an effect...check your label and make sure you're not taking synthetic E... Synthetic is "dl-alpha tocopherol" and natural is "d-alpha tocopherol"... the "l"is missing in the natural.

If you're taking synthetic you should stop and replace with natural. If you've been on synthetic that might account for something weird happening to skin.

Another possibility is that you have a bad brand or one that has gone rancid. Consider changing brands.

High Vitamin E is known to deplete Vitamin K. Vitamin K deficiency causes bruising. Simple stuff. I've noticed it too.

Skin Problems: A d-alpha (NOT dl-alpha) vitamin E capsule, pricked, squeezed and rubbed onto your skin problem will heal most things very quickly. Doesn't hurt either! You just have to be careful about your clothes, because it creates grease marks that are hard to remove.

Vitamin E works inside and out of the body at the same time. It makes the warts just shrink down and go away. no discoloration or any thing. I also put Noxzema on them it works with the E and cuts the time to a couple of weeks.

So for the external warts did you just open up one of the vitamin e pills and apply it to the wart and leave it? if you have a certain procedure or anything negative to report about it I would greatly appreciate it. thanks

I used natural vitamin e on my son who had 32 warts on his right hand. He was a teen-ager at that time and only allowed me to treat him twice. I opened a capsule and applied the oil in his whole hand, then I wrapped it up in gauze. After a week the warts just faded away. There was no redness and no pain. Make sure it is really natural vitamin e.
