Hepatitis C Treatment and Cure

| Modified on Mar 07, 2023

What Is Hepatitis C?

Caused by one of the many hepatitis viruses, hepatitis C is an infection that invades and attacks the liver. Characterized by inflammation of the liver, hepatitis C often prevents few symptoms and is only detected years later as liver damage is discovered via routine medical tests. Generally considered one of the most serious of the viruses, hepatitis C is caused by the hepatitis C virus also known as HCV.

Hepatitis C frequently causes few to no symptoms in its early stages. If an individual does experience symptoms, however, symptoms of hepatitis C usually involve fatigue, high fever, nausea, poor appetite, muscle pain, joint discomfort, and jaundice or the yellowing of the eyes and skin. Additional symptoms may include weight loss, breast enlargement in men, an unusual rash on the palms, trouble with blood clotting and spider-like blood vessels on the skin.

Hepatitis C is caused by the hepatitis C virus or HCV. The infection is spread via contact with blood that has been or is contaminated with HCV. Intravenous drug abuse is the most common cause of hepatitis C transmission while the risk of developing HCV by sexual contact is low. Additional risk factors for developing the disease include working in health care, having HIV, receiving a piercing in an unclean environment or via unsterile equipment, getting a blood transfusion or organ transplant prior to 1992 or being born to a woman who has the hepatitis C infection.

Natural Hepatitis C Treatment and Remedies

Hepatitis C is generally considered the most serious of the hepatitis infections. As suchintensive treatment is often required to facilitate recovery and improvement. Nonetheless, many natural treatments offer relief and reduction of symptoms. BHT is the most popular cure for Hepatitis C on Earth Clinic as reported by our readers. Also, alpha lipoic acid can also be taken to reduce enzyme levels associated with hepatitis C. Additional treatment options include colloidal silver, arginine, chanca piedra, sublingual and vitamin D3. Taking natural supplements to support overall health also aid in hepatitis C treatment. Vitamin B12, vitamin B, vitamin C, lipid monolaurin and sodium selenite should be taken daily while milk thistle and vitamin E should be avoided. 20+ years ago I was diagnosed and treated for Hep C. At the end of my treatment, tests still showed infection, and that it would most likely come back years later. After starting a regimen of ALA, NAC, Milk Thistle and Selenium I no longer show any infection - and the "professionals" said testing would always show an infection, even if my viral load level was below 10 (it was over 1 millions when I started treatment).

I still take these supplements today and have recently added Sam-E. Don't know if it would work for everyone, but it sure worked for me!

I contracted Hep C around 1984. A friend mentioned an amino acid called "Alpha-Lipoic Acid" to lower my enzymes levels AST and ALT count. He showed me in a book that had a list of elements that were taken out of our school of medicine in 1950's. I have had a level of roughly 20 AST and 35 ALT ever since. My liver doctor about 10 years ago was completly surprised by the levels, and asked what I was doing to get these levels. I mentioned "Alpha-Lipoic Acid" and he did not recognize it. It is sad when we are controlling what doctors should and shouldn't know. Hope this helps those reading.

Tim D from Plano, I first began taking ALA w/ other supplements during meals but found it upsetting to the stomach; after trying ALA 50mg on an empty stomach however, I experience no gastric distress. For me it is important to be sufficiently buffered prior to ALA. The other night I experimented w/ 50mg every 15 min 4x w/ no upset and increased energy and stamina. There are some caps as high as 600mg which I suppose would be beneficial for even advanced stages of liver disease. And now there is a stable form of the more active molecule of called R-Fraction which is touted to deliver over 5 times more than standard Thioctic Acid, and has been reported to have less irritation on delivery.

Hello Lorenzo,

Thanks for posting about colloidal silver used to treat Hep C. I've never personally known of cs usage for Hep although I've posted a number of times asking if anyone had tried it.

Can you give specifics? I mean load numbers.

There is a well known and very smart poster on EC who often talks of BHT usage with great success. He is always asking for specifics on successes.

So to add to the remedy possibilities, what were your numbers before and after. Hopefully Oscar will weigh in and ask you some questions. He is the poster I referred to.

In 2007 I had all the systems of Hepatitis C and had genotype 1. I searched for natural cures and found Colloidal Sliver. After taking Colloidal Sliver everyday for one year my Doctor said he could not believe it because he could find the virus in my blood test at all and that it was gone.

To the issue of whether consumption of arginine can impact Hep B and C, in theory yes. That is because taking arginine can reduce the amount of lysine (another amino acid) in the body and lycine helps fight off at least one virus...herpes simplex. In theory then, lysine may be helping to keep another virus from springing up... such as Hep B and C. About 15 percent of the population has herpes simplex from the reading I have seen. But by extrapolating from this one might theorize that lysine inhibits viral growth and so, again in theory, if lysine is diminished from the system then obviously its inhibiting viral effects might be reduced also.

HOWEVER there are two solutions to the problem for those like myself who take large amounts of arginine because of its amazing health benefits: After consumption of my arginine in the morning (in a liquid form... 5 thousand mg), in the afternoon, I take 500 mg of additional lysine, just to make sure lysine is not being depleted by such large amounts of arginine. Next, to make sure I am not inadvertently reducing an anti viral ability to help my immune system, I take small sips of colloidal silver at least three times weekly. The silver will act to swish out viruses in my body. I'd love for someone to disabuse me of this "theory" I pose above. That is, that lysine does suppress herpes simplex and thus (the theory) that therefore lysine might be suppressing other viruses also and by extension (continued theory) that supplements of lysine if one is taking arginine should counter arginine's impact on lysine in the system.

If you want to hang on to the Hep b - C virus then do so. L-Lysine will cause a toxic build up in the liver which will relate to overdose.

I take BHT 350mg per day Chanca Piedra, B12 5, 000 mcg sublingual, B12 1,000 mcg time released and Vitamin D3. My liver functions have come down to the normal range from over 200 ALT. I have Hep C and never felt better. I am suspecting a cure very soon with this treatment and I have the numbers to prove it as opposed to speculation by how you feel.

Also it is beneficial to know what not to take like grape fruit juice, milk thistle, and Vitamin E which has been found in tests to help the hep c virus to duplicate.

According to the following report on current known effects of silymarin (a.k.a. milk thistle) in regards to Hep-C, it may be helpful in some instances, especially when delivered intravenously, but is definitely not a cure.

Berkson Therapy

Posted by Dan's Sister (Playa Vista, Ca) on 10/13/2012

My Brother was diagnosed with Hep C and Stage IV Cirrhosis. He contracted HepC when he was 18 from blood transfusions from a motorcycle accident. 40 years later he became quite ill even had an esophogeal bleed which almost killed him. Drs at Kaiser said to go home and wait until he qualified for a liver transplant. Nothing they could do for him since he had the bleed out. We searched the internet and found Dr. Burt Berkson in Las Cruces NM.

We went there for 2 weeks, he was so ill he couldn't even roll his own suitcase to the hotel. After 1 week of treatment, he could go up stairs again, he didn't feel like he had the flu, could walk around and could sleep again. When he finished the treatments after two weeks, we flew back to Los Angeles, my husband picked us up at the airport and couldn't believe his eyes when he saw my brother. Dr. Berkson treats many auto immune diseases. We saw miracles in the 2 weeks we were there with several other people. This treatment is not expensive and works. I wouldn't believe it if I didn't experience it with my brother. Our friend is now being treated for his MS and having amazing results as well. Dr. Berkson uses ALA, Silymarin, Selenium IV's with a B complex injection. He also uses a low dose Naltrexone at night. Dan's MRI after treatment showed diminishing of the lesion on his liver and all of his lab work is moving in the right direction. The Dr at Kaiser asked what he was doing, because he was surprised at how his lab work turned out. We never told him because we thought he would be offended or try to convince us not to go back in 6 months for a "top up".

Berkson looks at your lab work (you can fax it) and tells you if he thinks he can help you or not free of charge. People were there from all over the world telling us about their success with this treatment.

The ALA Breakthrough and User's Guide to the B-Complex Vitamins -- by Dr Burt Berkson.

I've recently read the above two books by Dr Burt Berkson and both were an interesting and revealing read because I learnt something useful about these particular nutrients.

The most impressive and remarkable of his books is The ALA Breakthrough which initialy describes his involvement, as a Phd researcher, on the usefulness and helpfulness of ALA to act as a prime anti-oxidant that removes the deathly effects of poison mushrooms on the body. Later, as a qualified doctor, he began researching and using ALA in combination with other particular nutrients like LDN, Selenium and Milk Thistle and the B Vitamins which he applied in their correct orthomolecular and medical amounts to succsessfully treat and combat Aging, Diabetes, peripheral neuropathies, MS, Heart Disease, Pancreatic Cancer, Liver Cancer as well as curing and reviving people with Hepatitis C. ALA also greatly aids patients with the following problems: HIV-positive, AIDS, immunosuppression, psoriasis, eczema, burns, skin cancer, Lou Gehrig's and Parkinson's diseases and other neurological conditions, rheumatoid, arthritis, systemic lupus, scleroderma and other autoimmune diseases, macular degeneration, cataracts and other eye diseases, blood circulation, stroke, and hardening of the arteries.

Dr Burton's other book on B Vitamins is also a must read for his clear and simple insights and explanations. In the book, he goes right through why everyone needs each of the B Vitamns. I would also agree with him about their importance, since most people on western diets are greatly lacking in this group of vitamins today.

Hi Bill, Thanks for the info on Dr. Berkson's work. I was taking ALA with LDN for over a year after reading of his success but stopped taking the ALA after reading that it could be a bad idea if you have any amalgam fillings. I have two in a tooth with a gold onlay, so if I have them removed, I am sure the entire molar will go. Do you think ALA is more helpful or hurtful if you have amalgam fillings? Thank you for your always informative posts and for taking the time to help so many people.

Rsw from Uniontown, Oh asked a great question regarding the intake of ALA when one has amalgam fillings, crowns, etc. There seems to be a strong convinction among the online holistic community that ALA will pull the mercury out of the fillings and ultimately help deposit it in the brain. My question is- is this true for any chelation? Will spirulina and chlorella lead to the same results? And if yes, how does one support the liver until one is able to remove the fillings/crowns? Thank you.

If one is taking selenium this concern is not as critical. Selenium easily binds with mercury keeping it from settling in organs. This same principle is true when it comes to mercury content in many fish. Many of the fish that have slightly high mercury content also have ample amounts of selenium making it highly unlikely that one will absorb mercury and become toxic.

WORKED TEMPORARILY

Like Pandora's post below from 8/5/2015, same thing with me. I went from 7.5 million in 2016 to 500,000 viral load 7 months ago. This month I'm at 1.5 million. I've been doing the BHT, Monolauren pellets and other supplements for years and I'm still hep c positive. Harvony and Viekira didn't work.

BTW, I didn't take BHT on an empty stomach and I've been taking too much Vitamin E. My mistake and I think I may have been my own worst enemy. Do yourself a favor and get plenty of choline in your diet.

Hi John,

Oscar from Syracuse, NY was our BHT specialist for Viral Hepatitis for many years, but stopped replying to posts a few years ago. At that point (I believe in 2015) he was very ill from surviving a gunshot wound to his stomach in the Vietnam War, and also tired of people questioning his BHT treatment. He was harassed on different forums about his BHT treatment for years, according to emails he sent us. However, he did successfully use BHT for at least 20 years for Hepatitis, so I suggest you read all of his posts on Earth Clinic's 3 hep pages here:

I'd like to continue treatment but I want to make sure I'm not doing something that could damage the liver. I'd also like to know if I can take bht along with my lipoic acid/milk thistle. Oscar said not to but I'd like to know why.

When I was young about 17 or 18 I was partying hard and had a lot of fun, a little too much if you ask me.

Anyway fast forward to today. I ended up getting hep c virus from doing drugs. I had the virus for about 22 years. I am clean and sober now days but If I had half a brain when was younger well you know. As soon as I found out that I had hep c I gave up drinking, alcohol speeds up the replication of the virus.

I started taking bht 250 mg. Anyway I take it twice a day morning and at night 250 mg for a total of 500 mg.

Started bht in 2017. I started to feel better inside and out. I was able to get up off my couch and do things and was not sleeping my life away. My doctor wanted to check my hcv blood levels.

I just got the results back. quantitative test is 343,000 qualitative was Undetected Doctors usually consider a viral load over 800,000 IU/ml as high. A low viral load would be less than 800,000 IU/ml. If a quantitative test indicates undetectable viral particle levels, but the qualitative test detects HCV, it means that a person has extremely low levels of HCV in the bloodstream.

The numbers are looking very good and I will keep up with my bht treatment. I am not taking anything else but D3 and Calcium and zinc.

I take zinc to boost my immune system. Also I read online that drinking coffee will help your liver function better and it stops the hep c virus from replicating. Also when I feel a cold coming on I take some vitamin c. Almost forgot the most important thing to take, drink lot's of water.

I just wanted to say hang in there everyone.

It seems these 2 are the best remedies for ALL things lipid-enveloped viruses known to man. Might as well use a cocktail and knock out everything .. even the dormant diseases. I wouldn't see it being a contraindication. And why BHT should be used on empty stomach? It's been said by Oscar and others here. It's been scientifically verified as FAT SOLUBLE. Wouldn't it be more potent if used with fat? Confusing. Thanks in advance, Dee!

I've been taking BHT treatment for 6 weeks. 250mg and 500mg 12 hours apart. Keep in mind I have already done 12 weeks Harvoni with no evidence of cure. Then I was prescribed 12 weeks Viekera with the same results. During these treatments I was not told to not take large doses of vitamin E . I was taking 400 plus I.U. per day. Given that this link suggests that vitamin e protects the lipid coated hep c viron from immune system attack, it may well explain why my Harvoni and viekera treatments were unsuccessful.

So I've been taking BHT without the large supplement regimen. My last liver panel showed 50% increase in ALT and AST levels. Since my ferritin level was 900. After a 1000 one's chance of getting cancer goes up 20 to 200 fold. I was taking 500mg IP-6 3x/day. Could be toxic to a compromised liver (hep c 1a ) viral load 7500000. contracted 1971. I'm going to try MONOLAUREN. I was bruising very easily after taking less than 200mg c. I now take 5 to 10 grams california gold 1000mg caps Qualli-c. WOW, good stuff. No runnies.

Going to take lysine, chanca piedra, lapoic acid, nac, d3, k2, colodial silver, coral calcium for increasing ph, magnesium malate, selenium and a high quality multiple.

I'm 63, walk an hour every day and work out at the gym twice a week. I take citrulline to prevent the stink of ammonia away. A doctor would prescribe lactalose but that stuff will give you the runnies. I consume an average of 90 grams protein so I have to take the citrulline because of a cirrhotic liver.

Chris, I think it's so funny that you agree with yourself as it seems you're commenting on a comment you made in May of 2017. I've been taking monolauren for about a year. You must not take supplemental vitamin E. The reason is that it causes the protective lipid layer on the bacterium or virus to strengthen, thereby not allowing the immune system access in order to destroy the pathogen. Vitamin C may have a similar effect. Monolauren cured my nail fungus and I'm very happy with that.

My viral load went from 7800000 to 750000 as of July, 2018. That's significant. Since then I've added BHT to my diet. I hope the info. on Vitamin E was helpful.

I want to start off by saying hello. I need everyone to know how much I appreciate all the information that everyone has provided. I am new to this forum and I came here to learn, I stayed up all night reading and reaearching and early this morning I ordered the BHT that is recommended. It will be in Thursday.

I was diagnosed this past September. I am a young female, in my early 30s, at 160 pounds. What prompted my dr visit was severe nausea, some vommiting and sometimes severe lower abdominal cramping. I had scheduled a "female" visit, to get the full workup, expecting fibroids or something to that effect. I was diagnosed with Hep C and went on to have lots of blood work done, I will double check but I believe my genotype is 1A and I will get back with you guys on my levels. I've had them ran twice. I did not have insurance and was being seen at a free clinic. Things work really slow at free clinics. It was recomended that I have an abdominal ultrasound, and now here in late October I am still awaiting their referral. I went and got a better job and now have good insurance but I am still playing the waiting game with these doctors. I still have cramping. I still have nausea. I have decided to give this thing a go all by myself, starting probably Friday and will continue to have blood work to check my levels.

If Oscar or anyone is still here these days, I would love a response. Thanks very much. Julia

Dear Oscar,

I am a petite 115-120 pound woman. I was diagnosed with Hepatitis C type 1a in 2006; my viral load was 1,001,530; AST:53; ALT:99. (I believe I contracted it in 1998.)

On 12/12/2012 my viral load was 5,450,000; AST:45; ALT:99.

On 12/04/2013 my viral load was 8,980,000; AST:45; ALT: 95.

In January 2014 I started taking two BHT 180 mg with ascorbyl palmitate 80mg capsules (BHT Plus) on an empty stomach for a total of 360 mg BHT twice daily (720 mg/day).

On January 9,2015 my viral load was 1,990,000; AST:58; ALT:103.

I am concerned about the form of BHT I take because it contains ascorbyl palmitate which is apparently a fat soluble form of Vitamin C. I'm worried that the antioxidant effects of the ascorbyl palmitate might hamper some of the antiviral effects of the BHT. I take that form because it is the only form of BHT that my health food store and my on-line vitamin company carry.

I ordered a different brand on the internet (from Vitamin Research Products) containing BHT 350 mg, but when I opened the bottle, the strange smell of the capsules scared me. The smell was a strong, unpleasant chemical smell. I don't know if BHT normally has a smell, but the BHT with ascorbyl palmitate has virtually no smell so I stuck with that after smelling the terrible odor of the other brand.

Thank you, Oscar, for the information about BHT. I was so hopeless for so long. Finding your posts in late 2013 brought hope back into my life. By the way, the horrendous Herpes outbreaks I used to suffer have miraculously disappeared since being on the BHT. However, as I said, I still wonder about the efficacy of the product containing ascorbyl palmitate for the Hep C, and I am not sure I am taking the right dose. I am willing to try a different form of the BHT without the ascorbyl palmitate on your recommendation. And, does BHT normally have a strong smell?

Thank you,

Dear Shelby [ San Francisco, California ], Gee, where do I start here? The good news is the " BHT mixture " you are using did seem to cure the herpes infection. Is this the Pearson and Shaw product? It does seem to work very well for a herpes infection from what you stated. Just so you know: Pearson and Shaw never promoted BHT as a cure for a viral hepatitis infection unless they changed their minds about that after they published their book: " The Life Extension Companion " back in 1984. They promoted BHT as a treatment for the herpes viruses in that book. That book is where I first read about BHT.

I do think that this BHT mixture you discussed is NOT as effective as taking BHT by itself for a hepatitis C infection. The ways that BHT is digested when mixed with any fats or lipids is very different than when it is taken by itself with water only. This is discussed in many of the WHO [ World Health Organization ] BHT toxicology reports and there are many said reports.

In my opinion based on many years of discussing this treatment with many people and my own experience with using BHT to treat both hepatitis C and B, taking BHT with water only on an empty stomach is the way to use this treatment for best results. But I need to also caution you by saying BHT is more potent when using this method. For a person who weighs 125 pounds or less the 250mg of BHT per day is about the right amount. Some people can tolerate more and some less. This dosage issue is a tricky one. Age is also a factor. After about age 60 my tolerance for BHT started to go down. I am 66 now and weigh about 185 at this time.

Anyway, these are things to keep in mind. So if you want my opinion start using the 250mg capsules of BHT with water only on an empty stomach and lets see if that works for you. LifeLinks sells a good brand from what people tell me at the 250mg of BHT dosages. It is time for you to knock this infection out. And if it can be done with the BHT great. If it does not work then it is time to look into the NEW DRUGS now available. I know they are expensive, but I thought the health care system in the USA helped pay for said treatments. I really do NOT know about that. This is an issue your doctor should be able to answer.

In conclusion: Give the " BHT ONLY " treatment a try and lets see if you can knock that viral load count down or not. You have shown a gradual but somewhat slow response to the BHT treatment. Lets see if you can do a lot better using BHT only with water on an empty stomach. Link to" LifeLinks " 250mg capsules of BHT here:

Dear Oscar,

Thank you very much for your prompt reply, and, yes, the BHT/ascorbyl palmitate mixture is apparently the product from Pearson and Shaw. I just looked at the bottle closely, and, sure enough, in extremely small red print, it says "Durk Pearson & Sandy Shaw's" above the boldly printed name "BHT Plus". I was not familiar with their names or their book until you wrote me about it. (As I wrote before, I took that form because that was all my health food store carried.)

I just ordered BHT 250mg from Lifelinks over the phone. Thank you so very much for that recommendation. The man who took my order was very nice and said it should be here in two days. I will begin taking 250 mg with water only on an empty stomach once daily as soon as it arrives.

I do have one concern. The Lifelinks product contains 500 capsules which will last 500 days taking one a day. (My old product with 100 capsules and my taking 4 a day only lasted 25 days). With the new product, I am concerned as to how to store it for such a long time. I don't want the BHT to somehow lose potency by being exposed to air and or moisture--I live by the water and it is very damp in my apartment. Perhaps I should take out a month's worth at a time and keep the bulk of the capsules in a sealed glass jar (perhaps with a desiccant). In fact, my old product had a little package of desiccant in the bottle. I'm sorry to trouble you with such a tedious question, but I have never experienced storing a supplement for so long, and I would like to preserve it as best I can.

Again, thank you so much for your response. I now have new hope that the switch to the BHT-only treatment will have positive results. I was in a bike accident resulting in a shattered shoulder and thus a 3-hour operation (including a bone graft) on July 1st. It is the worst injury I have ever had and I am in a tremendous amount of pain. The only bright spot in this horrible ordeal is my communication with you. Being bed-ridden, my friend, who is good at chemistry, has been acting as caregiver and giving me my BHT every day. He questioned the efficacy of the "mixture" as soon as he read the ingredients on the bottle. (I had erroneously thought that the ascorbyl palmitate was simply adding a little extra Vitamin C to my regimen.) Once I was alerted to the possibility that the ascorbyl palmitate could be a problem, I immediately wanted to ask you, and, luckily, my friend is also a computer expert, so he was able to help me communicate with you. I have wanted to communicate with you since late 2013, so I feel very fortunate to finally be able to do. The horrendous accident, major surgery and painful recovery have been awful, but, ironically, it has resulted in new hope for me as far as the Hep C goes.

One last question, once I have started the 250 mg daily dose, how long should I wait to go and have my viral load tested?

Thank you,

Shelby

Hi Shelby, Gee, Sorry to learn of your injury. Sounds like a bad one. I was injured very badly in the Vietnam war and never have gotten over it. I still have a lot of metal fragments in me and it hurts. Try hard not to get hurt. I do.

As far storing the BHT goes: Store it in the container it came in with a packet of that stuff that keeps things dry. A desicant, a drying agent, like YOU suggested. But do NOT use a glass jar. Light and especially sunlight can and will degrade any supplement out there I can think of.

Your cupboard or a dresser drawer should be adequate as a place to store those plastic bottles BHT comes in. This is an important issue you brought up: How best to store the different supplements including BHT.

As far as testing goes: I suggest getting tested once a month. We need to find out and track how well the treatment is working and track the hoped for progress. If the treatment is not working we need to know that also.

Shelby, I want you to know: There are some very good NEW DRUGS available for treating hepatitis C. This happened within the last year or so. They are expensive but they do work. Also, you might be eligible for government assistance in paying for said new drugs. I think you would be because of this injury you suffered. Ask your doctor about that someone at a Social Security office.

But for right now lets give the BHT treatment a try and lets see if we can get the treatment working the way it is supposed to work. You have shown significant progress with the BHT mixture. I am hoping using the unmixed BHT treatment will work much better for you. That is what worked for me and many others also....Oscar

I am posting here for the first time. I was diagnosed with Hep C on 06/10/2015. It was, of course a shock to me, as I am generally in very good health. I do not have a viral load number but my ALT is 35 and AST is 40. I have an appointment with a specialist in 5 weeks. I assume that they will perform tests to get further information I.e genotype, viral load etc. Anyway upon receiving this news I immediately started researching cures and stumbled across this forum. I ordered a bottle of BHT.. It is due to arrive in a couple of days. I intend to post extremely detailed results on a monthly basis to document my progress on this regimen. I will also keep people posted on any good or bad side effects that I have once I begin BHT.

I wanted to report my first use of BHT to the forum. I took 125mg before I went to sleep. There were no side effects and I had no issues going to sleep. Upon rising I took a further 250mg on an empty stomach. I then proceeded to the gym for my regular aerobic workout. I noticed that I was able to breath a little more easily than normal when working out. It was a good first sign. Later in the day I took a multi-vitamin followed by a high dosage vitamin C. There have been no negative side effects to report following my first usage of BHT. If anything it has been positive so far :)

Dear Jay [ London ], Thank you for your timely updates on your experience with the use of BHT to treat hepatitis C.

Just so you and other interested people know: A rapid improvement in overall health is not at all unusual. That is what happened for me many others. There are also those who have reported negative side effects. So you have to use care with this treatment.

So, at least for now: You have no problem tolerating BHT and have noticed an improvement in your health. Of course this is good news. Please keep this forum updated with any and all blood test results.

And the vitamin C seems to work well with the BHT treatment.

Your updates are appreciated. Feedback, good or bad is important for ALL the treatments discussed in this important forum. Again, Thank You, ...Oscar

I am at the end of my first week of using BHT. I upped the dosage from half a capsule to one capsule this morning. My breathing again became noticeably clearer. Also my eyes seemed brighter, that is the whites of the eyes were clearer. I felt that my vision had improved. I haven't felt this good for some time. My first visit to my specialist doctor is on July 16th. So there is still some time before I see what my blood work shows.

I will keep the forum updated on a weekly basis till then. I plan to continue with my one morning capsule of BHT. I should also mention that I have very low bodyfat due to my training. It is around 7% at the moment. So one capsule a day should suffice based on Oscar's previous advice.

Dear Jay [ London ]: This is great news Jay. You have been on the BHT for one week and that clearing up of your eyes is an indication of a return to normal or healthy liver function.

But my recommendation for people who weigh over 125 pounds to 200 pounds is two 250mg of BHT per day = 500mg of BHT per day.

These are rough guidelines based on years of feedback.

So, because you tolerate BHT well and have shown improvement go to two 250mg of BHT capsules per day = 500mg of BHT per day. If any problems occur drop back to only 250mg of BHT per day.

How much do you weigh Jay, in pounds please ?

You seem to be a rapid responder to or with the BHT treatment. I want to see you knock this infection out and fast the way I did.

You are doing it the way I did. Being careful and all that. But, once I knew I was safe taking BHT I did double the dosage to two 250mg capsules per day = 500mg of BHT per day. I want to see you get well and fast....Oscar

Hi Oscar,

Firstly thanks for your encouraging words and all that you do to help people on this forum! My current bodyweight is around 150lbs at 5'10". So I am very lean due to my athletic background. I will increase the dosage as you suggested and report my results back to the forum in a week. Again thank you so much for your invaluable work!

Dear Jay [ London ]: Well, it is a relief for me to work with someone who provides timely responses and answers my questions.

As I stated: My guidelines as to dosage are rough ones. There are a number of factors that go into what a proper dosage of BHT is. These include:

1. body weight.

2. fat content of said body weight.

3. age.

4. overall health condition.

5. any and all other health problems.

6. any and all other medications a given person is taking.

7. the overall health of the liver. Cirrhosis of the liver does make the BHT treatment more difficult for example.

In all ways you seem to be a very good candidate for success with the BHT treatment. The ONLY problem you seem to be dealing with is a hepatitis C infection. And your positive response to this treatment is no surprise to me for those reasons.

Now living in London I do assume you should qualify for the different liver tests. Jay you can help yourself a lot by having those liver function tests done. They really do not cost very much. And when possible a VIRAL LOAD count test is very important. That test costs about 300 dollars US.

The first goal is to reach UNDETECTABLE with said viral load count tests. This usually takes about a month or so depending on how infected your liver is with hepatitis C. That does NOT mean you are CURED. What it does mean is that the BHT treatment is working the way it is supposed to work. The BHT is readily destroying those virus particles in the bloodstream as they occur as a result of infected liver cells dumping hepatitis C virons into the bloodstream in what is called a cellular burst. An infected liver cell literally bursts dumping a very many HCV virons into the bloodstream any one of which can infect a non-infected liver cell.

Now stay with me about this. Many doctors even get this wrong:

Your average liver cell lives about 200 days. Unlike most organs: The liver is constantly producing brand new liver cells. So, if you get to: UNDETECTABLE in that blood count test you are preventing any uninfected liver cells from becoming infected with the HCV virus. BUT, you still have a very many infected liver cells that will infect uninfected liver cells if you stop the BHT treatment. Therefore, you NEED to continue the BHT treatment for NO LESS than two years after you achieve UNDETECTABLE. It is the antibodies test that shows a TRUE CURE. When you test NEGATIVE with the HCV antibodies test you are CURED and not until then. Just to be very sure I would continue with the BHT treatment for at least one more year to make very sure there are no infected liver cells remaining AFTER you test negative with that HCV antibodies test.

I will state: A very many people get an UNDETECTABLE result with that HCV blood count test and then RELAPSE with whatever treatment. Do you understand what I am trying to explain ? The importance of continued BHT treatment after UNDETECTABLE is achieved in what is ONLY a blood test? And NOT a test of or about infected liver cells. Am I being clear enough about that for you to understand me? ...Oscar

Oscar,

Once again thanks for your prompt answers and invaluable information. I have indeed poured over every single post on this site regarding Hepatitis C. So I realize that an undetectable reading is simply an indication that the disease is contained but not yet cured. I lead a VERY disciplined life so it certainly wont be a problem to continue the treatment on a 100% basis until I am fully cured. There is always a temptation to add other things but in this case the BHT is proving so effective that I do not see a reason to. I fully intend to keep the protocol simple.

I have increased the dosage to 500mg per day and do not have any side effects. Apart from the improved breathing and clearer eyes, my sleep has also improved. I have been sleeping clear through the night now, whereas before I would often wake up at least once. This is after approximately 2 weeks on BHT.

I will of course keep the forum informed of my progress. Any news, either good or bad, will be reported. I hope that my experience will help others.

Oscar,

As mentioned before I intend to keep my protocol simple. However I was thinking of adding monolaurin due to it's powerful anti-viral properties. I have also read that it is a good candidate for use with BHT. What is your current thinking regarding this supplement and its use with BHT?

Hi Jay, I know of NO reason why monolaurin would negatively impact the BHT treatment. It is a lipid. What is unusual about monolaurin is that it has only one hydrocarbon so called " tail " as opposed to the usual two and sometimes three tail groups.

See here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monolaurin. So yes to monolaurin if you wish to use it. I use olive oil myself as a useful foodstuff. Olive oil is a mixture of many different lipids.

Just do NOT mix the BHT with the monolaurin when taking it. Wait an hour or more. BHT should be used by itself with water only for best results in my opinion. That is because BHT with water only is digested in a very different way than BHT mixed in any vegetable oil [ lipids ].

Dear Jay, You are on your own with this monolaurin. You asked my opinion about monolaurin as an antiviral. My opinion based on what is written about it only: Is that monolaurin is a powerful antiviral all by itself. The same is true of BHT. And that they both do essentually the same thing: Strip away those lipid coatings that encase the many different lipid coated viruses when they exist as virons in the bloodstream only.

I am concerned that you might be overdoing it. If ANY adverse effects are experienced cut back on one or both of what are two different treatments. I have NEVER tried the monolaurin and for that reason cannot be relied on for help with dosage issues when both treatments are being used or monolaurin by itself for that matter.

It is my big hope that reach undetectable and fast. Please get yourself tested soon. You may very well be UNDETECTABLE already.

Then it is a matter of coming up with dosages you can tolerate for about 2 years. I am thinking once you get to undetectable it will be advisable to lower one or both of those dosages.

Once I got to undetectable: In about 4 weeks with the BHT alone: I was only using 350mg of BHT per day.

Now, Mike " twodragunns " did get to: A NEGATIVE test result with the hepatitis C ANTIBODIES test in somewhat less than one year using the 250mg of BHT twice a day = 500mg of BHT per day with water only on an empty stomach as reported here in this forum. And it did take me more than one year to get there using the 350mg of BHT per day in one dosage. I do not know how long it took me to get there.

And please keep in mind my position on all this: If adverse reactions to the BHT treatment occur ALWAYS take LESS. And if you or any other person chooses to use both the monolaurin treatment along with the BHT treatment the same is true for the monolaurin: If adverse reactions occur ALWAYS take less.

Careful dosing is required with these treatments and any and all treatments as far as that goes.

Please get that viral load count test and lets see where you are at right now. Also: those liver function tests are very important and not at all expensive. They only cost about 30 dollars US and that way you can know with some certainty how your liver function is tolerating the now two different treatments.

I preach this testing stuff over and over. It is the only way I know of to get an honest picture of what is going on inside of you....Oscar

Hi,

Sorry for the immense delay in replying. I have had a hectic time in my personal life. I will keep this brief for the moment then post something more detailed if people are interested.

I was diagnosed as HCV (Hepatitis C Virus) about 6 months ago. Since then I have been taking BHT religously. I also adhere to a very strict diet and exercise regimen. I take other supplements too. Today my gastroenterologist informed me that I my HCV test was negative. In other words the viral load is undetectable. He did not pass on any other information than that. Oscar was correct all along. BHT works.

I have been taking 1000 mg of BHT every night before bed on an empty stomach, I take nothing else , till next morning I take 10 mg rabeprazole vitamin b complex B-100 and 250 mg of DMG. its been a year and my hep c reading before AST 113 ALT 217 viral load 3.54 x10 to the 6th

After one year AST 42 ALT 61 viral load 3.7E+6 .

If I read the first reading for viral load correctly it was 3,540,000 and now it's 3,700,000. an increase, but the AST and ALT has been steadly decreasing.

What am I doing wrong?

Dear Tobique, [ Canada ]: You are taking too much BHT at one time. 1,000mg of BHT with water on an empty stomach is a LOT. This may be causing stomach problems. Are you having stomach pain? Is this why you take " rabeprazole " ?

How much do you weigh in pounds please?

The good news is you did have a very big improvement in liver function and are now close to normal in that regard.

You are pretty much holding fast on that viral load count. Of course that is not good enough and you want better.

So, split the dose of BHT into 2 separate dosages and you may be taking too much BHT.

Are you by any chance drinking grapefruit juice ? Grapefruit juice can and will degrade the BHT treatment.

Let`s try lowering the individual doses of BHT in hopes that any stomach problems will go away. I did look into what " rabeprozole " is and it is a fairly large molecule. Large enough to degrade the BHT treatment if it is combining with the BHT and the Dimethylglycine might be enhancing this effect.

Look: You are holding your own, not getting worse and your liver function is very much improved. I hope we can identify the problem and correct it. We want to see that viral load go down and fast. Hopefully a little fine tuning of the BHT treatment will make that difference....Oscar

Dear Osca,

I have had stomach problems high acid production since I was 21, ( I am 58) the rabeprozole is to control this. The hep c diagnosis was in 2011 . I weigh 190 pounds . winter is less active than summer, more sitting and the summer I am out side working 8 hours per day or more. I don't eat any thing with acid, so no grapefruit.

I feel no discomfort after taking the BHT.. If I take the 500 mg BHT at night before bed, and then second 500 mg dosage in the morning with the vitamin B-100 complex will it still be effective?

The DMG was to boost my immune system to fight the Hep C virus . I have found the old records to give you a better understanding on the numbers

A blood test in 2012 june, showed a viral load at 9.9E+6. I took BHT 1000 mg and DMG 250 MG and the first night my body felt cold inside, I couldn't get warm at all. but next day all was good. The coldness I was told was the body killing the virus, next testing

July 2013 Ast 54 ALT 91 was viral 4.83E+6

April 2014 AST 36 ALT 64 viral load 3.05E+6

May 2015 AST 42 ALT 61 viral load 3.7E+6

The first usage showed great promise. Now the numbers have stagnated I will try the split dosage . starting tonight and drop the acid reducer , and use " gaviscon " to control the acid unless that will affect the BHT. Thanks for your help.

Dear Tobique [ Canada ]: I do NOT know what these " E units are ". Does E=one million or not ? Wikipedia says: Gaviscon is " alginic acid ". A much smaller compound than that other compound you discussed. So give it a try and lets see what happens.

Also: There are totally new treatments available for hepatitis C. These new treatments are much safer and more effective than the old interferon+this that and another thing.

Has your doctor discussed these new treatments with you? You live in Canada so these new treatments should be available to you.

You have tried the BHT with mixed results. Perhaps it is time to look into these newly available drugs....Oscar

The way the numbers were explained was. 3.7E+6 would be interpreted this way 3.7 move the decimal to the right six places. so 3700000.

Yes, there are new treatments but from what I understand only available if you have liver damage to a certain level. My liver biopsy show no liver scaring, so I am not covered and would have to pay the thousands of dollars to cover the new treatments my self which I can not afford. I have talked with one of the researchers and he said if the BHT is successful he would be considering do a study on it, a low cost cure for hep c is what is needed. That's one of the reasons I need it to work.

As for BHT, I have been consistantly taking it since I started, I have seen the huge drop in viral load and was wandering why the slight increase in viral load. Could it be from an increase in iron rich food?

Replied by Oscar

05/13/2015

Dear Tobique [ Canada ]: My ONLY concern is your well being. I have NO self interest in promoting this BHT treatment. These NEW hepatitis C drugs DO work very well from ALL the reports I have read. Said treatments are very expensive right now. But those prices will go DOWN as time goes by.

For right now: You are holding up well coping with this hepatitis C infection with the use of BHT. Your liver function is at least close to normal. And your viral load count has pretty much remained the same at 3.7 million or there abouts. That is on the low side of the medium range. One million or less is considered the low range and ten million or more is considered in the high range.

These results are as good as they are. Of course you want WAY BETTER than that. You want to be truly CURED of hepatitis C.

So for right now: You are telling me these new treatments are at this time NOT available to you. That could change in a few years and in my opinion probably will change as the price goes down on these new treatments.

You asked me about iron rich foods. My answer is that excessive amounts of iron do STRESS the liver. So do avoid imbibing EXCESSIVE amounts of IRON.

It is still possible that with some careful adjustment of your diet and supplement intake we can tip the balance and get the desired results with the BHT treatment.

Another important thing you can do is to make sure you drink plenty of quality water. I recommend distilled water. One thing to keep in mind is: The more dehydrated a person becomes, the more concentrated those hepatitis C virons become in your blood. Being dehydrated also DECREASES the BHT metabolites ability to READILY seek out those lipid coated viruses in a person`s blood.

So, in conclusion: Drink distilled water whenever you feel thirsty and cut back on excessive amounts of Iron rich foods and lets see if we can get this BHT treatment working the way it is supposed to work. Hopefully we can tip the balance point you seemed to have reached and achieve a CRASH in that viral load count with the use of BHT ...Oscar

Hi everyone,

I have been diagnosed with Hep C since January. I have been worried as the Liver Doctor advised me that I might have developed to Cirrhosis stage after two liver scans and after I told him I was feeling asleep when eating proteins such as white rice and chicken.

He wanted me to have a live biopsy in October 2015 which I cancelled after I found two natural cures websites for hep c and I started to consume natural juices from one of the sites, and it seems I am a bit better as I don't feel tired much as before after meal. But I still feel tired when I'm awake in the morning. I am still worried about my liver damages caused by HCV. My mouth has been sore for months without knowing that I have had HCV. I believe it is caused by toxidation of liver; so in the morning I have a glass of water with lemon as advised on one of the websites - my mouth sore has gone straight away. I have tried to eat lots of antioxidant vegetables such as tomatoes, and onions every day to see if that will improve.

I am due to see my Liver Doctor in three weeks, and hope my liver condition is better so that he could test my liver to give some treatments to kill HCV.

I ll post a message here just before I see my doctor to see if any progress of my liver.

Best wishes, Thon
