I woke up this morning with a bloated stomach and a feeling of low energy, which quickly turned into nausea. My first thought was food poisoning, and my second thought was "Oh no, not today. It's a big day at work and would look bad if I missed it." Also, I knew I had to be there in just a couple of hours.
Desperate, I checked here at Earthclinic and thank God I did! This trick with rubbing alcohol worked like a charm!
Here's what I did:
At home I grabbed the bottle of rubbing alcohol (that's 70% isopropyl alcohol & 30% water - standard ratio), and took a sniff. I repeated a few times over the next hour and a half, and the nausea disappeared!
Before I left for work I made myself a "just in case" dose of alcohol. I took a paper towel, folded it into thirds, and placed it into a sandwich bag. Then I added a splash of rubbing alcohol so that the paper towel was fully saturated. That went in my pocket, should I feel nauseous at work. I did end up going to the restroom and using once there. Worked fine.
Thank you so much to those who shared this gem of a remedy. You have been a life saver!
Alcohol Swabs for Nausea - Nay.
I have nausea due to pregnancy. I soaked a cotton ball in alcohol and sniffed it a few times. I didn't notice much difference, if any. This is my 4th pregnancy, and I never vomit. I just have a sick feeling all day long. I was taking turmeric pills 2-3 times per day at first. They helped for a few days, but then I started getting reflux so bad that I would spit them up about 10 minutes later. When they would stay down, I would notice I had an offensive body odor the next day. I am waiting for acupressure bands to arrive in the mail. I hope those help. Otherwise, I will just have to deal with the nausea for 6 more weeks.
Yesterday my wife had out patient surgery for a torn Meniscus. Prior to the surgery she was given a general anesthesia and morphine. The surgery went well but soon after returning home she became extremely nauseous and vomited. Eager to help I decided to google cures for nausea and came upon your website. After reading all the posts about the use of alcohol packets to cure this condition, I decided to give it a try. I poured a small amount of rubbing alcohol on a gauze pad in a bowl for her to sniff. It was amazing the nausea stopped almost immediately. This was a simple folk remedy that really works and should be given more exposure to help the thousands of people who suffer from nausea every day.
Nausea Cure: I have had a few surgeries in the past 20 years and each time I would wake from the anesthesia I would be extremely nauseous. Vomiting after surgery is never a pleasant experience. Last year I underwent 3 treatments in as many days from my chiropractor, Manipulation Under Anesthesia. I wasn't thrilled at the thought of waking up 3 days in a row and vomiting post anesthesia. On the second day as they were wheeling me out to my waiting daughter the nurse saw me turning green and she handed me an alcohol packet. She tore it open and said sniff this. I could barely comprehend but I did sniff and it was amazing. The urge to be sick left me immediately. She sent several more of those little packets home with me for the long drive back to my house and I did not get sick once. This was a first for me to not vomit post surgery. I haven't tried it for any other types of nausea or motion sickness, only after anesthesia but it's worth a try if you are nauseated for whatever reason.

I have found that high alkaline water is a godsend for nausea. The best part is that it tastes just like regular water. It is available at any health food store and my brother and I have found that it settles our stomachs greatly. I highly recommend it.
I discovered this site about a month ago and was very excited because i love to try out alternative remedies . Up till now i had no reason to try out anything but today i felt like i was definitely coming down with some sort of tummy bug felt very nauseous so when i got home from shopping first thing i did was drink two tbls of acv in some water and felt better literally within 5 minutes . Think this site is the bees knees cheers Caroline
I had been a bit drained and tired all day. About an hour ago I was shakey, a bit nauseous and weak. I sent my bf out to get me some apple juice. The moment I had 1 cup of apple juice and 2 TBL spoons of ACV, i felt INSTANT relief. I was definitely not expecting it. My bf had food poisoning or some kind of stomach bug over the past day and I was scared I might get it too. I went ahead and took the concoction and I feel fine besides the heartburn which will reside in a few minutes. I dont have as much gas in my stomach and my shakiness has lessened. :) I hope I had enough liquid with the ACV since this is my first time trying it.
About 6 months ago, I suddenly woke up with severe nausea and constant burping. Everything I ate and drank made me feel sick. I woke up nautious and went to bed nat ious every day. My quality of life started changing. I did not want to go out anymore and do things because I constantly felt sick. Being newly engaged, this really put a damper on my relationship. Who wants to be around someone that feels sick everyday and to be honest..when you are sick everyday you reach a point where you just want to be alone. I am only 27 years old and I felt like I had put on 10 years or more in the last 6 months. I even told my mother if I had to live the rest of my life like this I might kill myself. Everything made me sick. Even riding in a car. I had a colonoscopy which came back fine. I then had a scope done and showed that I had erosions all in my stomach, throat, and esophogas. I have been on prevacid and aciphex, which did not seem to help at all and the constant burping was just nasty and embarrassing. I got online and found this site and figured I would give the ACV a chance. This is only my 4th day and oh my goodness thank you god!!! I am not nauseous anymore. Riding in a car no longer makes me sick. If I burp it is one good one instead of a million tiny ones and I have energy like I haven't had in years. I have lost 3 pounds in a few days and I am not having bad cravings. I also notice my skin looks better. I also have battled depression for a long time and I actually feel happy. I woke up at 4a.m smiling thinking why am I so happy. This is truley amazing and I can't wait to keep taking it and see what else it does. If you have battled acid reflux believe me I know how horrible it is. Please just try this and you will not regret it!!!

I have been sick for the past few days with a stomach bug and sinus infection. I have been using steam to loosen the sinus' up and it has worked well along with the antibiotics; then the stomach bug sat in and I started vomiting non stop with nausea so bad I couldn't stand up or move to fast w/o vomiting.
I tried all the remedies on here for nausea (ACV, cold washcloths, baking soda) I even tried Pepto, and they all caused to to puke more. After having nothing to eat or drink (held down anyway) for over 4hrs, I went into the kitchen and got out cold organic applesauce, and started eating small spoonfuls and within 30 mins, my nausea stopped; and I haven't puked since. I ate about a tsp every 5 mins or so for 30 mins.
I dunno if it is just the antibiotics finally starting to work, or if the applesauce REALLY did work, but either way; I thought I would pass this on, since I remember my Mom making me eat it when I was sick and it made me feel better; and thought it would be good for kiddos, and people that the other things didn't work for.
Thanks again for the great ideas and remedies Earth Clinic!
1/8 tsp of Baking soda in a small cup with warm water worked to rid the nausea I have had for a 5 day.. Much better and easier than OTC medications.
I have been dealing with SEVERE nausea since starting chemo treatments for leukemia in 2005. I stopped all chemo meds in 2006 but the nausea has stuck around since then. I have tried EVERYTHING that the doctors have given me. I finally got tired of putting chemicals into my body and started searching for natural remedies. I found this website through a cancer community and it has been a GODSENT! I tried the baking soda for nausea and within 5 minutes, my nausea is almost completely gone. It would have taken Phenegren over an hour to help. Thanks SO much for this website!
I HAVE USED BAKING SODA FOR OVER 20 YEARS FOR NAUSEA IT WORKS EVERY TIME.IF I EAT GREASY FOODS OR JUST A STOMACH VIRUS. I WOULD BE LOST WITHOUT IT..IT ALSO WORKS GREAT FOR UTI'S IT MAKES THE SHAKING ICKY FEELING GO AWAY.

Bathing helps too. It reduces nausea and cramps.
Bartenders Cure for Nausea: Bitters stops nausea quickly. Bitters is used on most bars to make Manhattans. About 10 drops of bitters in a small glass of 7 up or ginger ale will settle even the worst naseau. Just sip it. You can buy Bitters in a liquor store or grocery store that sells alcohol. The best part about knowing this little trick is that its available when you are out for the evening so no need to suffer or go home. Just ask the bartender for a little bitters and 7-up.
Bitters also stops hiccups on contact. A little straight Bitters in your mouth will stop it dead. If you're out its usually sprinkled on a lime or orange to make it tolerable and you simply suck it off the lime. Hiccups are gone.
I'm not a drinker but my friends are and if I go out for the night they harrass me for not drinking. I simply order Bitters and 7up in a rock glass and it looks like I'm drinking a mixed drink and no one feels a need to talk me into having a drink. It tastes good - kind of like a sweet spiced ice tea.
