Natural Approaches for Scabies: Exploring Effective Remedies

Neem Tree with Aloe cured my mites (scabies) after five years of itchy hell. The doctor prescribed me Permethrin cream on several different occasions, only to irritate and antagonize my parrasites. On top of that Permethrin is a horrible pesticide used in Raid and other icky substances. Not people friendly enough for ME to rub in head to toe. So after half a decade of pain and pesticide i decided to order some neem tree products off of a health store online. According the the indians neem is a safe sterilization agent and a wonderful organic pesticide. Apparently it destroys the mite eggs before they hatch, leaving no more generations to mate on. Lo and behold, three or four weeks after treatment started i was mite free. Take caution though, you may want to keep on with treatment for a month or two to make sure no eggs hiding in floorboards, the coutch, your steering wheel, ect, can hatch and respawn.

orange oil. you can put some drops into your bath water and soak in it. also mix it into a carrier oil and rub it all over your body. olive oil or coconut oil would work as a carrier oil. you can also add a bunch of drops to water and shake it well and spray your house.

Scabies. OMG! This has me so depressed! To hear that some people have had these for a year? My boyfriend lives in sandy soil and I first thought it was sand fleas. Boy was I wrong. He stays in motels for work and I truly believe this is where it came from! I am embarrassed to tell him. But I will tonight. We have not seen each other for a month so I wonder what he will think. This has been going on for about a month now. It's driving me insane, but I finally went to the Dr. and he prescribed Eurax cream rubbed over entire body and left on for 48 hours (no bath). It's gross! I think my house is infected so tonight I intend to go on a cleaning mission. I have leather couches and when you sit on them you can feel the mites jumping you. What to do there? I think my mattress is infested as well. I have sprayed with bleach. Also is there anything I can put in my steam cleaner to help kill these creeps? I itch constantly at work and am afraid and embarassed that my coworkers will get it! I need to do something in my office without drawing notice. I have gotten some really good info from this site and will try whatever! Thanks guys soooo much. It makes you feel so unclean.

I have used the Permetherin 5% cream and various "remedies" from here and elsewhere. The Borax/Peroxide soak has provided some welcome relief from the itching and apparently it does work somewhat, because I have actually been able to see a few of the dead critters in the water after looking through a magnifying glass. I have used sprays and treatments on the rugs, mattresses, got new pillows, etc. Yet still.... grrrr...

But today, I got so frustrated I tried using Elmer's glue. I just rubbed the washable non toxic school glue kind all over my areas until it dried into a white film. And it seems to be working! Hopefully they will either suffocate or get stuck in the glue trying to get out. Of course, I would not use this 'treatment' on the face, scalp, personal areas, etc... And I am not sure that it would be very good for the skin on a long term basis. But if someone is desparate, it might work for them.

In response to the question of what you may be finding on your skin and in your bed that resembles tiny white grains:

You could be finding one or both of 2 things...

skin cells: every thirty days your skin "cycles" (for lack of a better word) all skin cells are sloughed off and replaced by the cells beneath it. It takes approximately 30 days for your deepest dermal layer of cells to reach your epidermal layer to be discarded.

eggs and parasite corpses: the above mentioned cycle also effects anything IN your skin layers. If you try a treatment and the creatures and eggs are killed, they are still there... and you will still itch until the "remains" are cycled. As the the new skin cells are forming, they push the older cells toward the surface. The surface cells die and fall off, are washed of, and even scratched off (as is the case with scabies). When the dead scabies and their eggs reach that top layer, they are "exfoliated" with the dead skin cells.

That is why you will continue to itch even if your treatment DID kill the parasites.
It also could very well explain what you're finding on your bed.
Since you know you have scabies and are using treatments (I assume) your epidermal layers of skin may be reacting to the treatments by dying which would cause excess exfoliation (think dandruff).

It is unfortunate that you haven't been able to get rid of the parasites... it seems that not only are you dealing with the allergies to the presence of dead parasites, but the condition is perpetuated. I seriously think you should have EVERYTHING about your life checked. For example, I work at a nursing home.... THAT'S where I picked up MY hitchhiking vampire mites. A condition of a resident that has had scoriasis since she was 15 years old was ignored (nurses and doctors even argued with me about it) and she has passed it not only to me and nearly every other resident on the unit I work on, but my 2 year old and my 5 year old.

I had gotten rid of them, and then the resident got transferred from another unit to my unit and she brought them with her.

Please don't ignore scabies!!! If think you can live with the itch, that's all well and good but scabies can cause skin infections from the scratching and the fecal matter. Skin infections cause liver and kidney problems!!!!!

I have had Scabies since the end of this past February. We stayed in a hotel and 1.5 weeks later, I had pin pricking sensations all over. The initial Dr. I saw diagnosed Scabies, took Permitherin, Ivermechtin (twice), and am using enzymes in my bath. The enzymes kill proteins immediately; problem is that we all need to interupt the life cycle of the Scabies. In reading a lot of information, I believe that people with compromised immune systems or diabetics have a more difficult time with these. Also, if you had them one time only, the Permitherin cream usually works. The second time, forget it! This is the second time for me; although, the first time I was diagnosed as having Bed Bugs. I also use enzymes in a spray bottle and keep the bottle in bed with me. This way, in the middle of the night, I can zap them if I feel them on me. In order not to have to change my bed each and every night, as I was doing in the beginning, I have a heavy air mattress uninflated on top of my bed. I create a bedroll each night with a blanket and sheet (king size) doubled over. When I get up in the morning, I place the blanket and sheet in hot water, borax, bleach, enzymes. I rotate the 2 sets of blankets and sheets, always one in the wash but having one available. The uninflated air matress gets sprayed with the enzymes, as does the entire area surrounding the bed. Also, protector covers on your pillows are important; I wash my pillow case each morning and spray the pillow protector cover with the enzymes. My family does not have these, so something must be working.

Regarding the environment, consider gettin the DE (earth). If you just vacumn, these mites are so small, they can be blown right out the back of the cleaner! I sprinkle the DE all over my rugs and floors, THEN vacumn. This way the DE will kill them because the DE will be inside the vacumn cleaner bag along with the mites.

Regarding the Polk root- you can get Polk root in dropper form at the health food store. It is recommended that you take between 3-15 drops daily, 3 times per day. This is scary, since Polk is a poison. It is really important to work on your immune system and protect your liver at the same time. I purchased a supplement just for this purpose. I am taking very good suppletments, MMS, Vitamin B, and now have added the Polk root, and liver protector. On the exterior, I am also using Colloidal silver gel, as a topical application. By the way, if you have tried the MMS (research online) you know after a while it is hard to withstand the odor and taste. I have purchased clear gel caps to incapsulate the liquid. The caplets do not melt and it makes it much more tolerable to swallow. MMS has been proven to kill Malaria, so I figured, why not? This product definitly weakens the mites. By working on building the immune system in tandem with killing these things from the exterior, I have to be positive that it won't be long.

So far, this is the best supportive site. I have seen 6 physicians, including 2 dermatologists; one being at University of Pennsylvania. (Meca) I also drove 4 hours to visit a Chinese herbalist who has worked all over the world in third world countries. (no help) This is still the best; we are in this together..... and yet alone. After using the cream that the doctor prescribed TWICE! Our scabies came back each time. I must say that it does not work and my doctor said the cream was harmless....we know that's not true. So I tried olive oil and recommended essential oils and tea tree oil...none of those worked. I didn't try borax till this week because my baby also has it and I didn't know if it was safe or not. But I thought, what could be worse then that dang cream (that doesn't work)! So this is what I did...I bathed with 1/2 cup borax in my water and applied it like a scrub directly on any scabies bite or egg blister. It totally worked. I could see holes where they came out of my skin. By the next morning I was almost all healed up...few scabs but huge improvement. When I get a single bite here and there from reinfecting myself...we have 6 of us with this stuff so that happens. I make the scrub and scrub away at that bite...I do it for awhile and let it sit...Then presto! Within a couple of hours you don't see it anymore or its dried out. I can't tell you the mental anguish I've gone through over this stuff. This cure has given me peace of mind and now I don't freak out and have a breakdown anymore when I see a bite. I also used the 1/2 cup of borax in every wash when I did laundry. The borax and peroxide solution worked great on the dog...which doctor said we didn't get it from..yeah right...we all know the truth about that too.

This sounds like what i wanna try. So it is totally harmless to rub all over yourself and sleep in it? How long should i leave it on? Can it be purchased at a farmers co op or the home depot? Are you fully cured? How much should i buy? Anyone else have sucesss with this?

How long are you supposed to leave it on? If you wash your clothes in very hot water and normal detergent is that enough to kill them?

Hi taking neem leaf will make it so the bugs can not reproduce. No more eggs no more bugs and it will stop more than just bugs from reproducing. I took 6 cap a day and the bugs over time went away. The neem leaf will not kill them only keep them from reproducing.

Has anyone studied Scabies habits. These creatures are very small and can go wherever they like when you apply any lotion etc. They are fond of getting under the eyelids, you should be able to feel them itching their way in and can stay there for hours. To stop infection from bacteria introduced by the insect some eyedrops recommend by a Pharmacist may be able to help .With the eyedrops in the eye you should feel the insects leave.

Have a plastic bottle 500ml with a trigger sprayer filled with a medium red wine 10.5% alcohol or better and spray all over the body. Keeping eyes closed a light spray to shut eyes will not hurt.Scabies will hide in all places so you will have to use your imagination.

The shower is a good place while doing this. Leave it on for as long as you feel comfortable with and then shower off. I have found this method to work very well with red wine a little more effective than the white. A cheap inexpensive four litre cask of medium red wine will be more than enough if you do not drink it.Having said that please do not drink too much of the cure.

I think I got Scabies about 2-1/3 years ago. Sad to say, it was after Hugging a classmate that I hadn't seen for 50 years. She has multiple horses and dogs. I saw blood drops on the shoulders of her white blouse, but thought it was something like acne, not contagious. That hug gave me scabies within a short time, but I had never heard of scabies so I didn't know. I then came down with an Auto Immune illness and fought pain for 2 years. I was on Prednisone for a year and then Hydrocortisone. Plus I have been taking OTC allergy pills for 45 years, so they may have helped keep the scabies at bay. But they never really went away. Now I found this site and thank you Grannie from Miami, I tried the Petroleum Jelly. It's been about 28 hours and I can tell scabies do not like it. I covered most of my body with it and I could literally feel them rushing to my untreated feet. So I lavishly covered between my toes and feet to kill the suckers. I have also resisted scratching by rubbing in the PJ on the itchy spots. I wish I could say I'm free of them, but they do have 3 stages, I believe. 1. the live ones crawling on skin, 2. the buried eggs and 3.they hatching eggs which cause the itching. Since I've had them for so long, I expect it will take time to get rid of them. By the way, the reason Men have less problem with Scabies is because of their SHORT fingernails. I'm gonna go get the Citrus oil or spray today and try to finish the scabies off, once and for all. By the way, I also tried the Medicated Chest Rub, but it absorbs too fast and doesn't work, whereas the Petroleum Jelly is thicker. Thank you soooooooo much for this website.

think i may have found a way. i have been suffering for almost 18 months now and have tried the creams and soaps. i haven't takin the pill yet casue my doc won't let me. sayes it may be too toxic. so what i did was took a soda bottle and messured out to equal sections on the bottle and marked them. then i took bleach and filled it up to the 2nd line and the rest with water, or a 1 part bleach and 4 parts water. then i sprayed my whole body from top to bottom. the first night i didn;t feel anything in the lostest time. secound night was great too. i woke up in the morning and noticed 3 new spots on my arms and a couple on my legs. i mixed the bleach again and then did it the night after. its been two weeks now and haven;t have a singls bite yet. i did do it a couple more times a total of six times in a 3 week period. aside from washing my cloths and bedding as much as possable. i also sparyed my mattress with the bleach/water once a week. i really think i might be rid of them and hopefully for good. seeing as i have no idea were they came from i hope to never run into them again.

My son had a friend sleep over 2 weeks ago, and he brought a dirty blanket with him. He slept in the extra bed, but when he left I stripped the bedding and washed it in hot water and soap and bleach. I slept in there for 2 nites and started to feel itchy. I thought I had mosquito bites around my ankles, but as the days went on I noticed bites going up both legs toward my knees. Over this past weekend the boy stayed here again, no blanket this time and I asked if he or anyone in his family had bites or rashes. He called his dad and told him about it and he thought they had bed bugs a month ago. I researched the bite type marks that were like lines of bites and knew I had scabies. All day Sunday we took all blankets, bedding, etc and hot washed with bleached and hot dryer. Items that we couldn't wash (large comforters, pillows etc) we placed in large trash bags with ties and placed them all in our living room. I've read them should be bagged 7+ days.

We took out our Kirby vacuum and did all the bedding, including the bed frames, and all carpets floors, drapes etc. I called my doctor first thing on Monday and went in and they said I had scabies and prescribed Lindane lotion and said to thin cover my entire body, from neck to toes, blow dry it on my skin, then wear loose clothing to bed, and rinse the lotion off in the morning. Because this lotion is said to kill the scabies under the skin, the itch can remain up to 2 weeks, after the bugs die, they also prescibed the steroid (predesone) to lessen the itch. I had difficulty sleeping still, feeling itchy, and crawling over my lower legs. Today, I was ok til @ 3pm and the itching came back, so I applied ice, and took an antihistamine (bendryl) to lessen the itch. This worked ok. I notice if I stand a long time, my ankles get red and so don't the bites in that area, so I have been elevating my feet, when possible, with the ice bags, that helps. It's too early to tell if this lotion did actually kill the scabies under the skin. I am grossed out, but the fact my skin will heal with dead bugs underneath, so I am wondering if anyone has ever open the skin slightly and scraped them out. For those on this site that have had them for months and years, I simply can't imagine, not being able to sleep with the constant itchy, crawling sensation, I've had over the past week, never mind the psychological aspect of scouring your home and everyone in it to make sure every spec you see isn't a bug/mite. I have tweezers, plastic container with lid, and a large magnifying glass on the counter, just in case. I was sent this site today, but have read many of the comments and I've not seen any that state they have killed scabies and have not had them again, but using/doing certain steps. I've read on WebMD and other medical sites that scabies need to be treated/killed or they will continue. THe doctor told me that if they do not have a host to feed that the mite will die within 24 hrs. I don't know how they travel. My prescriptions (lotion and steroid) co-pay was only $15, so if this works and they are gone, the creepy crawlies and itching were worth me freaking out about the potential (scared the crap out of me) side effects of the lotion. This is for Umatha and her post on Scabies. I know what you are going through, my husband and myself had scabies several years ago. I thought I was allergie to Lobster, as I had just been to Maine and had eaten Lobster for the first time, and I had lobster everyday for about a week. Was alarmed to find out we had contracted scabies while on this trip. We used Oregano mixed with olive oil so we could cover our entire body, this did help, but read later that DMSO used especially when the break out first occurs works wonders. You might want to try DMSO, but be sure you put it on only after you have bathed and have no other medication on your body. Be sure to wash your bed linens, towels and clothing each day with ___Natural Enzyme Cleaner until all sign of scabies are gone. Good Luck & God Bless God

Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth work for me in about 24 hours. I took a heaping teaspoon. Most people take a tablespoon. I stayed on the DE for a month to make sure I got all stages of the scabies. If you haven't been doing parasite cleanses I have read that you need to stay on the DE for several months to get clean. I know some people who take DE all the time. I just make it a habit to do something for parasites all the time as we can easily get reinvested. The only place on my body that the scabies didn't died fast was my hands. I read in essential oil book to use equal parts peppermint oil and rosemary oil non diluted. They didn't like this at all and were glad to leave my body.

i have had scabies for about 4 months. at first i thought i was allergic to my socks but i found out it is scabies. i have tried oregano oil to expensive at 30 dollars an ounce or less. the best luck i have had is over the counter rid x flea and tick treatment its a shampoo but i put it all over my head and body and it did bring relief but no cure. today the enzymes arrived so i tried them i sprayed them all over my body but i did not notice any relief and this morning at 3:00 i woke up and ended up scratching both of my legs which i did not really want to do. i treated them with hydrogen peroxide then witch hazel then calomine so that the itching might stop. which it has it is now 4:00 in the morning. nothing has worked so far, its a battle or a war. i am going to find some poke root and try that also im going to try borax soak. i am also using alcohol and orange based cleaner that does seem to help. one thing i did that i do not recommend is cortizone cream it makes them larger so stay away from that. all with scabies you have my deepest sympathy may god help you and if you have scabies you know im not kidding

In reference to "Scabies Remedy Success", posted on 4-18-09. I worded it poorly. The point was that the scabies remedy surprisingly killed the jock itch. I was using the scaby remedies to prevent him from catching them after exposure. He didn't show any signs of having scabies...yet.

My twenty one year old son with Down syndrome has had jock itch since he went through puberty. Over the counter remedies didn't work. Essential oils such as eucalyptus and tea tree helped a little but not significantly, and irritated his already sensitive skin. More diluted mixtures to protect the skin weren't strong enough to help significantly. Eventually the skin became purplish gray (from chronic jock itch, according to the doctor). In addition, the skin on his entire body is always red, very dry and irritated looking.

Recently I had scabies and decided to treat my son in order to prevent him from catching them. The things i did differently than usual were to add some orange oil to his body wash and shampoo, I rubbed his skin with neem oil and/or extract in olive oil carrier daily, and soaked him twice in one week with Ted's borax/hydrogen peroxide soak (not too much peroxide) and left it on the skin. After about ten days, I brought him to the doctor to make sure he didn't have scabies. When the doctor examined his private area, he looked so surprised and commented about how much better my son's skin looked. My mouth dropped open when I noticed that beautiful normal color of his skin of his private area. In fact although still dry looking, the redness that pretty much covers his entire body is about eighty-five per cent gone! I realized that he hasn't been scratching lately either. I don't know which of the three remedies contributed to his improvement, possibly a good combination of treatments. In fact it's early to tell, but he might even be completely cured of the jock itch. I chose the neem for it's anti-scaby benefits, but also because it's said to be kind to the skin. I had the impression from researching that neem eliminates scabies, over time, with consistent daily applications, not a one or two time application to be effective.

BTW, I enjoy sharing effective remedies, because we've been helped so much by the info on the site and i like to give back.

To treat books and papers that are infested with no see-ums....Put the papers, books in plastic bags, add cotton balls that have been soaked in ammonia to the bags and seal them up, leave over night. This worked for me. I used gallon freezer zip-loc bags rather than a huge bag with too much paper. You'll have to arrange the cotton so that it isn't too sopping wet and doesn't wet the papers. Be careful not to breathe the ammonia - it's toxic to your lungs. Also, be very careful not to have ammonia fumes near any possible chlorine bleach fumes, as the mixture of ammonia fumes and bleach fumes can kill you. Also works for shoes - put ammonia-soaked cotton balls into shoes and seal the shoes up in a plastic bag for 24 hours or so.

you can buy the orange essential oil at any place that sells essential oils for very little money - around 2 or 3 dollars. then put some in a spray bottle and dilute with water and use it OR mix it with the carrier oil of your choice and use it after your bath. i have also had luck putting about 9 drops of the straight orange oil into my bath water. smells good and scabies DO NOT like it.

in reference to the orange oil spray found at Walmart, I wouldn't use it with out diluting it a lot. I use it as a deoderizer, but if you spray more than just a little, it makes you cough, it's very strong. The directions warn that it can burn the skin. I believe I have scabies, and thought i would try adding a little to some to olive oil. I'm not sure how it will work.

Walmart sells a 100% orange oil spray. it can be found in the carpet deoderiser section.

I was wondering exactly how the oils worked for you. Did they kill the scabies of just help with the itching or what? And how long did it take for you to rid them?

anything citrus helps with scabies. you can use orange juice or lemon or lime juice or even better orange oil. google orange oil for scabies

Orange essential oil will get rid of scabies. you can put several (10-12) drops in your bath water and also make a spray of orange oil and water in a sprayer bottle - put enough so that you can smell the orange oil. i have also used it topically by mixing it with a carrier oil (olive or coconut). it won't hurt you however to use it straight - but be careful because it can cause sun-sensitivity. also orange juice or lemon or lime juice should also work.

when my best friend had scabies and couldn't use the prescription cream and treatment from the doctor this is what she used and had immediate relief. also i was helping her apply the orange oil and i had first put some on myself (the spray) and i didn't get scabies from her.

try it it works! and it is very cheap - which is good also. you can buy orange essential oil in the health food section of your grocery oil - where you would find lavender oil. also google orange oil for scabies and they also make a commerical spray that is similar made of the inside peel of the orange - the chemical is called D'Limonene.

My findings I found is that short term use (exceeding one or more week) lead to a neurological damage in dogs as permethrin was found in the dogs blood that lead to sudden loss of appetite, vomiting and mild epileptic seizures. The most serious I found was weight loss and loss of appetite, along with general weakness. As to the tea tree oil, unfortunately I wasn't able to find any problems with its use.

The permethrin is currently assumed NOT to go through the skin, unfortunately they do go to the skin quite readily if the the carrier base are oil based or cream based and goes through the skin, as I understood, in a matter of hours. Most oil based chemicals, even including tea tree, but more so with permethrin since they damage the neurological process directly that leads to a sudden case of vomiting and then followed by a mild seizures for only permethrin, but not tea tree oil in normal usage amount. Even the person who applied it, namely me, I also got nauseated from using permethrin based dog shampoo and realized early on I had to stop use if the requirement involved the use of longer then 5 days otherwise the body can't detoxify.

In any event, there IS a way around it, since no one really is going to do anything about this issue, which I am afraid I was a bit late to know about that to save one of the dogs dying from permethrin poisoning. The dog died of a seizure a couple of years back while visiting one of my neighbors. The remedy is hydrogen peroxide 20 drops per 1 liter of water, 3% food grade. The other, that can help (within reason!) is the use of vinegar, which somehow induced vomiting (in dogs) and caused a return to normal appetite.

Unfortunately long term exposure involving heavy neurological damage has limited ability to reverse this condition, but a mild exposure can be reduced by destroying permethrin through either breathing in ozone, and/or the use of hydrogen peroxide drinks, very 2-3 hours for about a day. In the event hydrogen peroxde and/or ozone isn't available, which happens very often in third world countries, then I would settle for vinegar and baking soda remedy. Which is 2 tablespoon of vinegar plus 1/2 teaspoon baking soda (the baking soda is a bit higher here by the usual 1/4), in 1/2 glass of water taken 3 times a day. A vitamin B complex is also helpful. Granulated lecithin 1 tablespoon was also protective, as is some magnesium also.

Few people know permethrin can be absorbed by the skin and checked for its presence within an hour or so after the application. It's also true that any oil based aromatherapy has the same effect transdermally. It is one reason how bisphenol A found in cosmetic products and canned food products get into our system also. In a laboratory findings of a rat where it's stomach were shaved, and lavender oil was applied, then it was sacrificed, the scientists found the presence of lavender in their kidneys. The same is also true for the use of garlic. A fresh clove of garlic, chopped, is placed on the foot of a person. Within 30 minutes to an hour, its possible to detect the presence of garlic in a person's breath even though a person have NOT consumed the garlic. It's this reason why ADHD condition are made much worse after the use of any commercial toiletry products, especially those that contain aldehydes and ketones.

Though information is lacking, its possible to prove that through blood tests for their presence. The same is true in proving aspartame poisoning in detection of methanol content over time increases after their consumption, and given a longer period, the presence of formadehyde from their breakdown in the body system. The secret is in the blood in proving things, not expensive rat studies to prove tumor, these research can be altered, but not a blood test.

In any event, I believe hydrogen peroxide, baking soda and vitamin B complex will be most helpful. If none of those are available, permethrin are also destroyed by both UV and ozone exposure too. But their damages to neurological system maybe damaging, even in low concentration even for humans.

I am new to this scabies thing. But the things that worked really well for me. Is the Peppermint "Oil", Lavender oil, Neem oil, with base of olive, vegetable or avocado oil. Within a couple days it's worked.

Citrus mouthwash for scabies and Blk Pepper mites: Like you I have been battleing scabies for 8 long months ! Of couse I have used tons of over the counter remedys to no final avail,to be honest I sent in a remedy that in the end didn't work for me,so this time I'll just say to try it,you might like it. I heard of people using listerine for scabies and Black Pepper Mites (check about them ,they mimic scabies,you might be suffering from them instead ) I went to my brothers house to borrow listerine (next door)and all they had was Equate Citrus antiseptic mouthwash, I went home put some in a small wash basin in the tub stood in it and soaked myself from top of head to soles of feet, I let it air dry on me and it is very sticky, but low and behold black dots started popping out of my flesh!! I remembered working at a hotel where they used citrus spray for fleas and mites from peoples pets, I rinsed off before going to bed, should have left it on ,but this is the best my skin has felt in 8 months, I still have itches but very few. which I dab with the mouthwash and soak my feet each night,Wal-Mart has it in big bottles and it's cheap,don't have to tell you guys to keep up with borax in the carpets and wash and cover that mattress with plastic and clean it w/ diluted clorox,hope so much this helps someone out there.

Scabies Treatment and Seizure: I came back from Thailand with scabies. My doctor prescribed Permethrin Cream which I used for 3 weeks in a row. Then my husband showed the signs of scabies so 10 days later we both used the Permethrin. In the 10 days I tried Tea Tree Oil as a natural substitute. After using the Permethrin for the 4th time (I informed my doctor that I had used it 3 times before). I had a seizure for the first in my life at 45. I went to ER told the doc that i had probably overdosed on Permethrin. He claimed it is a topical and disregarded that. I was sent to a neurologist who did an eeg and mri on me and both were normal. Meanwhile my armpits burn and itch and I just developed a rash and bumps on my abdomen. I called the neurologist almost in tears and he wanted to prescribe another cream Croatin or something. I declined!!!! They don't get it. I don't want to die to get rid of them. Is there an expert in this area? I looked up tea tree oil and the active ingredient is a similar makeup to turpentine and has caused seizures and death in cats. The scabies has cost me 5,000 from my insurance deductible. these medicines are dangerous and nobody cares. The neurologist thought permethrin could cause a seizure if ingested orally! Doesn't it go into our bloodstream through the skin and effect our nervous system? I am not a doctor, but it seems obvious. I don't know where to turn.
