Skin Lesion Remedies

| Modified on Jun 22, 2014

While most skin lesions are benign, natural treatment typically involves effective removal of such growths to prevent an overproduction or cancerous development of cells. Remedies like castor oil and apple cider vinegar can be used to safely and quickly eliminate growths.

What are Skin Lesions?

Skin lesions include such issues as moles, warts, skin tags, cysts and others. Many lesions cause only cosmetic concern; however, some issues may cause slight discomfort, irritation and inflammation. Skin lesions are typically caused by damage to the tissue, which causes abnormal regrowth.

Natural Remedies for Abnormal Skin Growths

Treating growths on the skin requires effective options that eliminate development of abnormal cells and effectively remove growths. An additional component of treatment requires effective moisturization to prevent further damage to the skin. Apple cider vinegar, coconut oil and castor oil are among the most effective treatments.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is an effective treatment for removing skin tags, moles and other cellular overgrowths on the skin. Applied directly to the lesion, apple cider vinegar delivers an acidic compound to the growth that causes the lesion to naturally die and fall off. This treatment also contains several vitamins and minerals that support regrowth of healthy skin at the site of removal.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil serves as an effective treatment for skin issues with its natural antibacterial properties. Coconut oil also contains lauric acid, an active antimicrobial agent, which kills germs and stimulates the removal of overgrowths. Additionally, the compound is an effective moisturizer that relieves dryness, itching and other skin-related issues.

Castor Oil

Castor oil is an effective antibacterial and anti-inflammatory agent. This treatment is effective for lesions associated with rashes, allergic reactions and other wounds to the skin. Castor oil helps keep the skin hydrated and free of infection and naturally dissolves cysts, warts and other growths on the skin.

Skin lesions vary greatly in presentation and cause. However, many natural treatments are effective for eliminating lesions whatever the type and cause.

I had come down with some skin lesions and went to about a dermatologist for his help. He gave me a cream that I used faithfully, but it just didn't work. I grew concerned because I have a history of basal cell cancer and I didn't want these lesions to develop into that. About 6 weeks ago I was in Whole Foods and saw this jar of ________ Coconut Oil. It was the expeller pressed, unrefined kind. I purchased it with every intent to learn how to cook with it; however, I came across another web site where someone mentioned they were using it as a skin cream. So, what the heck, I tried it as a massage on both legs and arms. Oh I am just in a state of awe that my lesions are fading! I am so excited, so pleased that a $10 jar of coconut oil could make my skin healthier. I'm using it on my face too, wow those fine lines are fading too! I will continue to use this day and night on my skin, and will start tomorrow with taking it orally.

I has a new skin growth on my arm and starting rubbing coconut oil into it a couple times a day. It totally disappeared within 2 weeks I was amazed. I had been all set to go see the doctor but never had to go.

Coconut oil is curing my psoriasis. I only have it on one elbow but it doesn't look very pretty. I think I will buy the capsules as that seems to regulate the right dosage.

I have used extra virgin coconut oil topically and internally for seven months. It is fantastic. I applied it topically to a pre cancerous skin lesion on my forehead at the hairline and within three days the lesion was gone! I wish I had known about the benefits of coconut oil six years ago when I underwent Mohs excision and plastic surgery on my nose for skin cancer. I could have saved myself a lot of worry, not to mention pain and nine month of plastic surgery procedures to reconstruct my nose.

Skin Lesion Remedies

About 6 months ago, I developed a spot on my leg, about half an inch across, that was flat with a slight discoloration. Looked okay, but the dermatologist wanted to biopsy it. The biopsy results were negative. After the biopsy, the spot got much worse so I tried putting various remedies on it, like tea tree oil and then oregano oil. The oils didn't make it worse, but neither did they help. For the last month, I have been applying a black patch my acupuncturist gave me, but I have no idea what the ingredients are. It's a patch of material soaked in something, maybe Cannabis oil. The salve might be working but if so, it's doing so very slowly, Now the area is a raised bump and slightly painful and I am not sure what to do about it. If anyone has any recommendations, please let me know. I do have a call in to the dermatologist to schedule another appointment. Thank you!

JL if that black thing smells, it's probably got icthammol in it. If not, you can buy an icthammol salve (black salve - without bloodroot! ) quite cheaply in any drug store. It should help. You can also try plain ol' A and D ointment, the kind for babies.

Hope someone can help with a red mark I have on my cheek. It is about half a cm by half a cm. It has been there for a few months and seems to have just come out of nowhere. I haven't changed my diet so I don't think it's a sensitvity from food. I have also tried putting coconut oil on it and hasn't done anything. Hope someone can help.

Dear Leanne,

I am wondering if the red spot is raised, round, itching, flaking, and/or painful?

My first thoughts are: castor oil, tea tree essential oil, and/or frankincense essential oil. You can try the castor oil straight. I would put the essential oils into another oil. (Like coconut oil, olive oil, or maybe the castor oil. Castor oil is rather thick to be a carrier oil, but I have done so.) Perhaps just dab the carrier oil onto the spot and then one drop of the essential oil on top and rub it in. These three oils have helped my family with a variety of different skin issues. I would apply one or more of the above at least twice a day. Three times would be great, if possible.

Let us know how it goes!

Hello Leanne,

You might try an anti fungal. I always suspect microsporum canis or one of its cousins... a fungus. Especially suspect this if you have animals as pets which might have been infected; dogs or cats. Look it up on Wikipedia for a full delineation. I've used Lamisil, an over the counter cream successfully. Also Tinactin.

Here is a mixture I used on a red spot on my face that wouldn't go away. Open a vitamin E capsule, add 1/4 tsp vit C powder, add 1/2 green tea extract powder. I mix it and apply it at least twice daily. This is a synergistic antimicrobial mixture.

Since you are from Australia, let me also mention that skin cancer can start with a red mark and you might want to investigate that further.

Thanks to those that replied to my question. I thought I better get the mark checked out with the doctor who said it was solar keratosis, skin damage from the sun, which may turn into skin cancer in time. Dr suggested to burn off or cut out. No Thanks! So I checked remedies on EC which recommended ACV. and other suggestions that were posted so I will try that and see how it goes. If any one has any other suggestions that will be of help. Thanks
