Vaginal Cyst Remedies

| Modified on Dec 14, 2020

What Is a Vaginal Cyst?

In general, a cyst is a closed pocket or pouch of tissue that is filled with air, fluid, or other material. More specifically, a vaginal cyst is a closed sac located on or under the vaginal wall or lining. Several different types of vaginal cysts exist including inclusion cysts, Bartholin’s gland cysts, Gartner’s duct cysts, and Mullerian cysts. No matter what type of cyst is present, though, the symptoms and causes are typically similar.

Typically, vaginal cysts do not cause symptoms; however, a small soft lump may be felt in the vaginal wall or distended from the vagina. Most cysts range in size from about the diameter of a pea to that of an orange. In some cases, women may experience discomfort during intercourse or when inserting a tampon.

The typical cause of vaginal cysts is a gland or duct that has become clogged and causes liquid and other matter to collect inside. The specific cause, however, depends on the type of cyst. Inclusion cysts form as a result of trauma such as an episiotomy during childbirth. Other cysts are caused by the collection of bacteria or other organic matter.

Natural Treatment and Home Remedies for Vaginal Cysts

Many cysts respond well to natural and homeopathic treatment options. One of the most effective methods involves applying apple cider vinegar directly to the affected area daily for several days in a row – most individuals see results within 4 to 5 days. Additional options include turmeric, garlic and sepia taken orally in the form of a capsule. These natural supplement options typically offer results within 1 to 2 weeks as well and can be used to prevent development of additional cysts. I have a small (about small pearl size) nodule on my labia that tends to get larger and hard when overly stimulated by intercourse or irritated from undies/pants etc. It's bugged me for a few years now, but never got bad enough to make me worry or feel the need to do something.

Celebrating my birthday weekend recently with lots of 'play' time, it became extremely painful. I have a sebaceous cyst on my back, and this seemed to feel and behave the same way. I found this ACV thread and decided to give it a try. Throughout the day, after urinating and wiping I soaked a tissue with Raw Unfiltered ACV and pressed it on the cyst, keeping contact for approximately 30 seconds. I also made sure to wear my most comfortable underwear and pants to minimize irritation. It did sting a bit on the very first application, but all I felt for the other three applications was cool relief. By the end of the day, the swelling was completely gone and the cyst has shrunk down to it's 'normal' size (about a small pearl). I also did see a small spot of bloody fluid on my undies after the first application, but no more after that.

I think with repeated treatments I may be able to make it go away. I did not experience the burning that many report, but this is likely because my application was relatively external, fairly brief, and I also used a high quality raw ACV product.

THANK YOU!!! I was hesitant about applying Apple Cider Vinegar to my bc, because of the burning/stinging sensation, trust me it works. I went to the doctor second day of pain when walking she pushed it and nothing came out. Because it was so close yo my clit( sorry tmi) she said she would have to drain it because it would be super uncomfortable. Came back home in pain and helpless. I found this and after 2 days of barely being able to walk and only 4 hrs of sleep I got courage and applied it every 2 hours. The third time I applied the cotton ball I only was able to keep it for 10 min and whrn I took it off it finally started draining. I definetly used about 60% Apple Cider Vinegar and 40% water. It stung and burned but it's finally drained. THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!!

I tend to get bartholin cysts that get very painful. I just came across these posts on using ACV for vaginal cysts. Last night I made a small batch of watered down ACV mix 50/50. Then I soaked a qtip in it. I used the qtip to rub the mix directly where I thought it should be. Then I dipped a cotton ball in the mix, just enough to get the top wet. I put the wet side of cotton ball directly where I thought it should be and left it there for 30 mins. Luckily I did not feel any burning. I think because I watered it down. Afterwards, because I heard it might help with the cyst itself besides any discomfort from the ACV, I used Coconut Oil. I fell asleep with that cotton ball in.

When I woke up in the morning, the cyst had flattened and was hardly painful. I did have some blood on my pad. I assume that meant it was draining. Yea! I expect this to continue until the cyst is totally drained.

I knew ACV was great for many things, but never thought to try it for this!

Thanks!!!

Do you place it inside the vagina or just on the surface of the lump? Mine is just forming and I want to catch it early!

Came across Jill's post below on accident and decided to try this.

Day 1, I placed soaked Cotten ball inside where my cyst is at for 30 minutes. With just one treatment, I can already tell that the cyst has softened. It was hard and pea like before and now it has a gelatin feel. Although it was a little aggravating, I find the burning to be tolerable so far! If it gets rid of the cyst then it will be well worth it!

Thanks for posting about it!! I was embarrassed about going to the doctors again. I hav already had it cut and drained twice. Keeps coming back. I am excited to find a natural home remedy!!

Okay, so here is how this went for me...

Day 1 wasn't so bad and I left it for the 30 minutes.
Day 2 hurt a little worse, but I was able to keep it there for 30 minutes.
Day 3 burnt extremely bad, but I still left it for 15 minutes.
Day 4 I was still uncomfortable and had an extremely busy day so I never had the time to do it.
Day 5 I decided to try it again and when I went to put the cotton in place I felt a completely flat cyst!!!! I didn't feel it drain or anything, but I was so extremely happy to feel it flat like that!!! I went ahead and put the cotton ball there and am now typing while it's there without much discomfort.

If you battle with these, then you know my excitement. I am beyond happy with this!! I highly recommend doing this!! It is a little painful, but not like the after effect of having it surgically removed!!! If it comes back, I will definitely uses this method again!!!

Hi Rebecca. Was your cyst on the inside vaginal wall or on the outside? I have what a doctor called the gartner's cyst on the inner wall and I'm not sure if I should try this or not.

Works but is Extremely Painful

I have had an inclusion cyst for maybe 7 years. I have sporadically made efforts to make it go away, including using epsom salt soaks, castor oil, and serrapeptase (because for a while I thought it was a Bartholin cyst). All of these were completely ineffective, but this week I was feeling particularly determined and decided to try the apple cider vinegar method.

The first day I soaked a cotton ball in it and left it on the cyst for thirty minutes. It burned initially but then was just slightly uncomfortable.

Then I tried it a second day and could only leave the cotton ball on for less than five minutes before the pain was unbearable. I tried diluting it with witch hazel, but it still hurt immensely.

One of the major problems is that there's no real way to localize the treatment and it was starting to burn all of the skin on my inner labia. Still, I decided that I would try to make it through four days of Apple Cider Vinegar treatment before giving up, so I applied it several times a day for as long as I could stand (usually not more than a few minutes), then applied witch hazel, aloe, or castor oil to help soothe it. The pain from this was so intense that I lost sleep and had nightmares.

On day five, when I woke up and decided that I was done with the process, it hurt so much that I felt immense regret over using advice on the Internet to resolve the issue. I felt resigned to the idea of the cyst being there either forever or until I sought medical intervention for it. Then I went to a physical therapy appointment involving light exercise, and while I was there, to my delight, the cyst started to drain!

I'm excited it worked, but to be honest, I am not so sure that using this method was any less painful than utilizing a surgical option. It felt scary for a little while there.

I started using Apple Cider Vinegar on my vaginal cyst a few days ago. Every morning when I wake and every night before bed. It's still hard as a rock but it's bleeding. Because the skin over the cyst is so responsive and the rest of my skin is not, I know something is wrong there. I don't know if the bleeding is actually draining or not. It's itchy now, too. I don't know if this remedy will be completely successful but it's definitely responsive. This is a very painful process. I could not complete a full thirty minutes tonight. It is also bleeding quite a bit.

You can try combining MSM and some colloidal silver 30/70 ratio and it should close up and heal much faster.

I was diagnosed with labial cysts two months ago. My doctor drained the largest cyst and put me on antibiotics but as soon as I was off them, it popped back up again. I went back and he put me on on antibiotics yet again but still no cure. I assumed you could put apple cider vinegar directly on this cyst. I put it on twice by soaking Cottonwool in and organic ACV and leaving it on for 10 minutes. It stung like crazy. The cyst is no longer raised but flat and red raw and weeping. I can barely walk. And all I would say that apple cider vinegar works but I guess you need to dilute it, who knew?!

Vaginal Cyst:

Hallelujah. I've been blogging home remedies to avoid surgery and today I didn't think I could stand the pain but then it drained! Started Friday, was uncomfortable Saturday, became really painful Sunday, limped to doctor on Monday to be told it was not infected nor was it that big but they could do surgery or I could wait for it to drain, Tuesday I took advil and went to work but could barely move, Wednesday I coukd not move at all till it popped. Over the days I tried lots of stuff. Did shots of apple cider vinegar, Epsom salt baths several times a day, slept with turmeric and coconut oil on it, took Mucinex Monday and Tuesday, switched to silicea 30 on Wednesday morning and alternated apple cider vinegar on cotton on it and Tufts pads with witch hazel during Monday and Tuesday nights. When it burst I had decided it was unbearable but now it's healing. So so grateful for online forums and all of you.

I have had an inclusion cyst since I was molested at the age of 6-9. It was caused by physical damage, but has "always" been there. Now I am 54 and as my vagina shrinks from old age it's beginning to hurt as the cyst does not shrink with the vagina. All my doctor can do is suggest estrogen cream to keep my vagina "young" (flexible) thus making the pain less, but increasing my chances of cancer. It is up pretty high and can't be reached with a finger, and is very deep under the skin so it can barely be felt. But it is very painful when pressed. I'm wondering if any one has had experience with this and if the vinegar can penetrate that deeply...that's even if I could figure out how to get it in there? Thanks

Dear Looms,

Well, that is a long time to have to deal with a cyst and from a most distressing cause at that.

We have had great success using castor oil for cysts. You can even buy castor oil in gelcaps. You could insert one each night intravaginally. It may help with elasticity of the skin as well.

Alternately (or in addition), serrapeptase, an enzyme, can be bought in capsules and taken according to package directions. Serrapeptase helps to dissolve growths.

I hope that you will find healing soon!

Let me know how it goes.

I have had tiny bead-sized clitoral cyst for the last year. My doctor is talking about sticking in a needle and trying to drain it but I'm looking for alternatives first because it's so close to such a sensitive area. I can feel it under the clitoral hood, but it's deep under there and my hood doesn't retract, so I can't actually touch it or see it directly - and thus it won't be able to come to a "head" like other cysts. I don't know of anything topical like castor oil or ACV would work? Or would oral supplements like serrapeptase work for this sort of thing? Super frustrating, would really appreciate any input!

Try freezing the avc yes it will be really cold but once it starts melting it shouldn't be bad. Wear a pad with it too so once it is melting it won't ruin your undies. 😊

I have been using apple cider vinegar on bartholin cysts which pop up and haven't responded to any treatment so far.

Before bed I have been taking a cotton swab soaked in ACV and applying to the area, sometimes it stings, sometimes it does not. I applied for at least a week before I saw any changes. The top layers of the harden skin slowly flaked off and at that point, I soaked a cotton ball and left it on my cyst while I rested for about 30 minutes. About two days later, when I was applying ACV again with cotton swab, the cyst burst and drained for quite some time. they heal quite nicely and I continue to put ACV on the site.

Be patient, it works!

Question for you: the majority of my cyst is inside my vagina. Is it safe to put the apple cider vinegar inside? or should I just try putting it over it on the outside skin? Thanks.

Apple cider vinegar is safe for all sorts of things. If the above woman applied it to her cyst then she applied it within the walls of the vagina, since that is where the Bartholin's cyst is. Thus, I would have to say it is safe. If you want to start out with a diluted substance just to be safe you could mix a tsp. of ACV with 1-2 tsp. water and dip a cotton ball in that and apply. I'm going to be trying full strength ACV on my cyst. Up until now I hadn't seen this option, only some essential oil and turmeric options. I have tried some essential oils (different combos of Juniper Berry, Cypress, Chamomile, Lavender, frankincense and Tea tree, even adding peppermint on one occasion), and my cyst seems to shrink some with those, but I have not been able to make it go away.

Good luck with yours!

I also feel a burning sensation some few minutes after applying the Apple Cider Vinegar to the area. Should I keep at it or stop. await ur reply thanks

My wife has had a cyst for 12 years - above the Bartholin's gland so it was apparently a Skene's duct cyst. It had bled some upon examination by a gynecologist recently and was very tender. We were concerned about cancer but the results came in clean. I read about the use of apple cider vinegar for a Bartholin's cyst, and she used it on the cyst for about 4 nights. This morning, it bled and drained out flat. Now it is not tender and it had been. She was to have it drained by the doctor later this week. Thank God for your post and for this natural cure. And thank you!

Mine was the size of a pea and now gone! I am amazed and still in disbelieve that I could have used this simple remedy years ago! Apple cider vinegar is amazing!

I found similar advice about Bartholin cysts but was afraid to use ACV on my Skenes's cyst. After reading your post, I used the ACV and also applied moist heat compress in the evenings. While I don't like taking antibiotics, I took the advice of my doctor because I was desperate for it to go away. After 6 days, my cyst ruptured and I'm sure the ACV definitely helped! Hello.

I read your post about using the ACV and then your Skenes cyst poped. I am on day 3 of the this ACV treatment and am starting to see a red part that might rupture and my entire lower area is having cramps and has been doing somthing since I started. The main thing that I am nervous about is the cyst popping?? I have never had one of these before and was desperate to try Anything natural that would help me avoid surgery. Since the skenes cyst is so close to the ureathra should I go to the dr or emergency room after it pops?? Or did it heal on its own?? Did the skenes cyst come back? And how big was yours? Would love to chat more with you.

I have suffered for a number of years with recurring Bartholin cysts. These are cysts on the external part of the vagina. Mine are always on one side only, and are quite painful to the touch or when urinating. They clear up eventually, but the discomfort meanwhile can make life difficult. A couple of years ago, when I was looking at one of my books on homeopathic remedies, I came across Sepia as being a remedy for vaginal cysts. I tried it next time another one of these cysts came up. I took one Sepia pill three times a day for two or three days,by which time the cyst had subsided. I do this every time I feel another cyst coming on, and it works every time, usually within hours. Decrease and then stop the dosage as the symptoms subside. Your body will complete the healing process. My book says that the 12C, 30C and 200C potencies work best. I usually use the 30C potency, but I have also had success with 6C. Sepia can be ordered from any online homeopathic pharmacy. It's important to follow the rules about taking homeopathic remedies -don't take them within 30 minutes either side of eating or drinking or teeth-cleaning, or the effectiveness will be compromised. Also, store them away from the light and strong-smelling substances.

I had two small bumps on the opening of the cervix for nearly ten years. The obgyn said it was "just a little irritation". They would flatten out and then come back now and then. I started to treat what felt like a pelvic infection by swabbing the inside of the vagina with wild oregano oil diluted in olive oil. I applied several drops to my fingers and rubbed it in once a day. I also started douching with raw apple cider vinegar after sex, and eating and applying kefir inside the vagina. The two bumps on the cervix are gone and the texture of the tissues feels smoother. This treatment has been maybe three weeks on and off. The oil burns for a few minutes. The kefir I drink two cups in the morning first thing. Especially after an oxygen and magnesium colon cleanser the previous night. My abdominal/pelvic area feels much better after many years of pain. My legs also no longer hurt, though that may be from quitting caffeine. I have been using the acv/lemon/ginger/garlic/honey and getting more protein, too. I would like to cure the scraping sound in my knees, so I drink whey and hydrolyzed collagen.

Have had a boil on my labia (ouch! ) for about a week and a half. Warm baths and compresses weren't helping at all, so I decided to try turmeric.

I took one teaspoon last night - under my tongue, and then swished with water, and then another this morning. It's been about 3 hours and my boil finally came to a head and I was able to drain it! I definitely attribute this to the turmeric. Thank you Earth Clinic!
