Parsley Cures and Remedies

| Modified on Feb 03, 2023
If you're at all like us, you've maybe wondered why restaurants keep putting parsley on your plate while expecting you not to eat it, but that's probably about all the thought you've given to poor, underestimated parsley. As it turns out, this sharply flavored green may turn out to be a rather potent detoxing agent.

Natural garden parsley (Petroselinum hortense) is a biennial plant that grows a large taproot in the first year and flowers in the second. It is grown in different varieties that favor differently shaped leaves or a more developed taproot, but all have approximately the same remedial qualities.

NB: Parsley in large quantities is not safe for pregnant women.

Preparation: The leaves, roots, and seeds of the parsley plant are all used medicinally. Parsley tea made from the roots and leaves is the most common medicinal preparation, but the seeds are also harvested for extraction of apiol, a therapeutic essential oil long used to treat amenorrhea and historically as a way to terminate a pregnancy.

Natural Parsley Cures: In addition to being an emmenagogue, parsley is a proven diuretic, so it can be very beneficial to the kidneys and bladder. Increased urination can help clean out urinary tract infections. Parsley can also help settle a spastic bladder. It is furthermore rich in B Vitamins as well as offering Vitamin A and more Vitamin C than oranges-which nutrients are of obvious benefit. Specific remedies include applying crushed parsley to a bruise to help the black-and-blue mark disappear faster. It can also be applied to areas of swelling to reduce inflammation. Parsley can be chewed to combat bad breath and when eaten or parsley tea is drunk, it can settle the stomach and reduce gas and bloating.

Parsley and Cancer: One chemical component of parsley, apigenin, reduces the number of new blood vessels that form around a cancerous tumor, helping to starve the growth of cancer cells.

Parsley and the Liver: As a diuretic, parsley can help flush toxins from the body, a boon to our critically important hepatic organ. More specifically, it seems to also contain antiviral agents particularly effective against viruses that attack the liver. For this reason, parsley is strongly recommended for those afflicted with Hepatitis A, B, or C.

I have used a compress made of chopped fresh parsley steeped in hot water. It heals existing pimples quickly and drastically reduces redness.

Parsley and spinach tea cured mucus dribbling down throat and mucus cough. This cough with mucus can lead to bronchitis. Point is to keep mucous up in head, throat area. Throw bunch parsley and fresh spinach into a quart pot and simmer like a tea. Strain and drink as often as you wish. Will get rid of mucus if no other complication.

Boil 2 bunches of Fresh Parsley into 1 litre of Water and drink during the day. Add whatever you like to make it go down in a more pleasant way. I like lemon for example. The most important with Gallstone is to dring a MINIMUM of 2 litres of water a day.

The parsley tea can be boiled and drunken cold or hot.

What constitutes a bunch? 1 packed cup? Can you provide a weight in grams?

Another potential cure. My wife has had kidney stones since before I met her. The first one she had (with the excruciating pain!) was the size of a mothball and was on an xray and was diagnosed on a friday. They were going to do either a cat scan or an mri (I never remember) on the following monday to get a better ideal on what she had.

She went online and found multiple instances of parsley and parsley tea, so she made a big pot of tea using three bunches of flat leaf italian parsley. She drank it over the weekend and by monday she was pain free.
When she had the test done, they couldn't find anything and kept going back and forth between the xray and the latest scan and also asking her name to verify the xray. They told her that there must have been dirt on the xray and she asked what the pain was that she had then.

She then told them what she had done and after being confused and saying that it couldn't have helped, they basically told her that she was not telling the truth, Since then, she has had kidney stone type pain and each time she has done parsley tea and in a couple of days she is pain free.

And since a dozen years ago I had a kidney stone (8mm) and had lithotripsy to get rid of it, I will do parsley tea if I ever have kidney stone pain again I will drink a lot of parsley tea.

Menstruation

Just so women know, parsley tea will often bring on menses in a non-preganant woman if she is late on her cycle for stress or hormonal reasons. So be aware the while the tea may help your gall bladder, it may also bring an early or unexpected menstrual period.

Ovarian cysts--I discovered quite by mistake, that juicing carrots, beets, parsely, spinach and green apples is not only delicious but it also caused my cysts become much smaller. I made up this mix simply for the health benefits and one of the immediate effects was that my monthly cycles became very lite and not painful as they had been in the past. It took some research to find out that it was the beets that I included in the mix. I drink a glass full every day. I make this in large quantities 5 pounds carrots,4 green apples, a few sprigs of parsley, a hand full of spinach and 2 whole beets. I hope this is helpful to someone, God bless.
