Natural Gut Cleansers For Your Body

| Modified on Jul 16, 2015

Whether you are new to the natural living camp or an old, faithful member, we imagine that you're always ready to discover effective natural products that you can use every day. We're always on the hunt for them also, so decided to focus on learning more about natural cleansers. As a bonus, we wanted the ingredients to be readily available and inexpensive. The 5 natural cleansers listed below made the list of our favorite natural cleansers. Not sure why natural cleansing is so important for your gut and overall health? Read on and find out.

Why Is Cleansing Important?

While it may seem relatively obvious, the idea of natural cleansing centers on eliminating pollutants in the body and avoiding all of the additives found today in so many everyday products. These products contain chemicals, pesticides and other unhealthy additives that pollute the body and make us less healthy. Natural cleansing, however, eliminates these pollutants, helping to balance the body and supporting overall health. The skin is the largest organ in the body, and tends to reflect the presence of pollutants. Detoxing is important, but a "full-on" detox should not be done more frequently than once every few months.  If a complete detox was a tiger roaring in the jungle, these gentle, natural cleansers are more like a kitten that you can play with every day.

Why Should I Focus on Natural Cleansing?

While it may seem relatively obvious, the idea behind natural cleansing centers on eliminating pollutants in the body and avoiding the additional additives that are included in commercial products. Many of the products on the market today contain chemicals, pesticides and other unhealthy additives that contaminate the body, making us less healthy than we should be. Natural cleansing products help eliminate some of these pollutants.  Since contaminants are widely present in products, the workplace and the environment, the cumulative load of contaminants really builds up over time.

Natural Body Cleansers

Many store-bought cleansers claim to be “natural”, but you should read the ingredients on the lable and decide for yourself it the product meets with your own definition of "natural."  This is why we suggest making your own natural cleansers at home – ranging from skin cleansers to digestive detoxes. Take a look at a list of our favorite natural cleansers.  They will also save you money!

1. Epsom Salt

One of the best, most cost-effective natural treatments for cleansing the colon (and the skin), Epsom salt draws toxins out of the body. When added to a hot bath, Epsom salts aid in detoxification by causing the body to sweat, "pulling" toxins out through the pores – this beauty treatment is more than skin deep!

2. Lemon Juice

Lemon juice is a natural cleanser that can be used in many different ways. Two of our favorites are shown below.

  • A cleansing daily tonic can be made with lemon juice and water. Daily use helps cleanse the internal system and eliminate fat in the body by penetrating and breaking down fat molecules.
  • Lemon juice can also be used as a facial cleanser by making a paste with lemon juice, baking soda and water.

3. Watermelon and Mint Tonic

The combination of mint and watermelon helps to draw toxins out of the body, naturally restoring and refreshing the system. Allow this mixture to steep overnight, combining the juices of the ingredients. This is a refreshing and restorative tonic.

  • 2 liters of water;
  • 1 small piece os watermelon;
  • 1 lemon or lime;
  • A handful of fresh mint leaves.

4. Ginger Lemon Detox Drink

Ginger is a powerful detoxer that combines effectively with lemon to cleanse the system and eradicate toxins in the digestive tract.

To create the drink, mix ingredients.  Drink the mixture at room temperature for the best cleansing benefits. Ginger is also great for detoxing the skin.

  • 12 ounces of water;
  • The juice of half a lemon:
  • ½ inch knob of ginger root (grated).

5. Flushing Cooler

This cooler is a sweet treat without the sugar. Make the mixture and store it in the fridge for up to 3 days. You’ll feel like you’re treating yourself when you drink it, and you’ll be melting fat and eliminating toxins at the same time.

  • Mix 8 cups of green tea with orange, lemon and lime slices to make a very tasty punch.

We all know that it's important to eat right and exercise regularly, but that might not be enough to eliminate toxins in the body. Try one of these natural cleansers to help clear your gut of toxins.  Let us know about your favorite natural cleansers!

I was diagnosed with GERD 2 years ago and have been on Aciphex. I recently was told my iron has very low saturation and was put on iron supplements. I am very upset about this and hate taking meds, therefore I found this site by serious research. I went off the Aciphex and tool 2 tbls of Organic ACV and within MINUTES I FELT BETTER!! Being off the Aciphex made my heartburn awful, and this remedy really helped, and right away. I have been taking the ACV with 1/4 teas of baking soda and 4 oz. of water for the past 4 weeks now and I am happy to say that not only has my GERD cleared up, but my sinus allergies are completely GONE and I am also off of Flonase, which I have been on for 10 years. I can't tell you how happy this has made me!!!!

NOW: My question to Ted is that is taking baking soda safe on a daily basis? My niece is an Acupuncturist and I have sent her some of your emails and she is disagreeing with you on this point. She believe it will increase my blood pressure by taking BS. Can you please respond to this? I really feel much better and don't want to hurt my Esophagus more by not neutralizing the acid in the ACV. THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! Kathi
