Hi, I'm just wanting to know the correct dosage for iodine w/ kelp in liquid form. I've bought some and 1 drop has 150mcg's of iodine (as potassium iodide) and 50mg of kelp.
I'm having bad hair loss and thought I would give this a try.
Thank you for your help!!!
I read on the site that Ted recommends iodine solution to be applied to the scalp. I have hypothyroid which was not diagnosed by any doctor for almost 15 years, and suspect that that's how I lost 75% hair (female pattern baldness with thinning all over). Now I am on Armour (natural dessicated thyroid hormone) but I guess it will take time for my hair loss to be reversed (if at all that can happen).
I read about Ted's iodine solution and tried it. I applied iodine solution all over my scalp and I must admit, it did wonders to my hair. I can almost immediately tell when my hair is benefiting from something and the next morning, my hair looked darker (i have brown-black hair), thicker and healthier. Plus, I was more energetic the next morning (definitely because iodine works for thyroid). I also have been reading on this one remedy which a lot of people swear by (i don't know if it's been mentioned anywhere on this site)... Onion juice applied topically. I know that under ayurveda, onion juice for scalp has been recommended. I started this from today and did notice my hair looking healthier and thicker. Apparantly it takes upto 4-6 months when applied 2-3 times a week but the upside is that it's affordable home remedy and needs to be applied for only 20 mts before being washed off. Someone said that in Romania onion juice and garlic juice are very popular for reversing baldness. I do see something in it, as onion and garlic have sulpher. The smell might make you think twice, but some people recommend using lemon juice after washing hair (to take the smell off). Hope I am regular with it for the next 4-6 months and hope it helps others too.
YES I can vouch that since I came to AMERICA my hair are falling. The water here has either chlorine or too much remnants of estrogen wich causes hair loss and feminizing men!

Jamaican Black Castor oil WORKS!!!!! Your hair grows so fast you won't know what to do and it doesn't take long at all. I use it and have told others about it. If you are looking to grow your hair, you can't go wrong with this product!!!
Speak to anybody from the Caribbean, and almost all of them will tell you about Jamaican Black Castor Oil for growing, thickening and moisturizing the hair. The castor oil beans are boiled, and used as a hair pomade. It has an awful smell, is thick, but it does grow your hair, eyebrows, eyelashes, etc. For caucasian hair it is best to use Jamaican Black Castor Oil, with Peppermint as the peppermint combats the greasiness, and the presence of the menthol gives a cooling effect to the scalp, binds the hair roots & increases blood circulation. The resulting stimulation of your hair follicles culminates in a renewed and reinvigorated hair growth cycle!
Jamaican Black Castor Oil, infused with Peppermint WILL grow and thicken the most thinning hair, it's worked for thousands.
I have been visiting my favorites since answering Cindy's email and thought I would give you some information found to pass on to all EC'ers with hair loss problems. I will e-mail you the articles I gleaned the information from in case you want to read them afterwards, but I will give a short shot of helpful hints that I think will be all that most of our EC family will want. Going to the plant database I found several chemicals listed as anti-alopecics (anti-baldness).
They are linoleic acid, palmitic acid, inositol, oleic acid, linoleic acid and zinc.
Zinc is found in meats, seafoods, dairy products, nuts, legumes, whole grains and you'll even find 23 parts per million of zinc in turmeric or curcumin, and 13-17 parts per million in the coconut. If you take zinc supplements it is recommended that you not take more than 50 mgm. per day and stay with zinc gluconate as it consistently holds the lowest amount of cadmium which naturally occurs with it. (Cadmium is that toxic metal in the news now because it is being found in children's and adult jewelry made in India and China). Zinc has many other functions besides preventing hair loss, but this what we are concerned with today. You can easily search them on line to learn the others.
Inositol is "vital for hair growth", also combines with choline to form lecithin and reduces cholesterol. It's calming effect on the nervous system is thought to have an effect on depression, panic attacks obsessive-compulsive disorder and bipolar affective disorder (used to be called manic-depressive disorder), plays a role in preventing and treating cancer, improves nerve conduction velocity in diabetics, and used in constipation therapy by improving peristalti action. Inositol is found in dried beans, calves liver, cantaloupes, citrus fruits (except for lemons), garbanzo beans (chick peas), lecithin granules, nuts, oats, pork, rice, veal and whole grains. The resin, exudate and sap of the coconut palm has 690 parts per million of inositol.
The coconut (seed) also has 584-18,694 parts per million of another anti-alopecic chemical called linoleic acid. Our lovely, tasty coconut also has 770 parts per million of magnesium in its seed which adds another long list of anti-chemicals to this coconut. The coconut hull husk also has lignin 294,000 parts per million which is antibacterial, anticancer, anticoronary, anti-diarrheic, anti-HIV, antioxidant, antitumor, antiviral, chelator, hypocholesterolemic, laxative, and pesticide. Over consumption of caffeine products (carbonated beverage drinkers may be getting more than the coffee drinkers) or prolonged taking of antibiotics can decrease the body's supply of inositol.
Fatty acids in foods are incoporated into complex lipids such as triglycerides, cholesterol esters, and phospholipids. Our bodies can synthesize some fatty acids in adipose tissue and the liver. It cannot synthesize some essential fatty acids: linoleic acid (Omega 6) or alpha-linoleic acid (Omega 3). Both Omega 3 and Omega 6 are found in vegetable oils like corn and canola. Walnuts are also a good source of alpha-linoleic acid.
Pork has 40% saturated fatty acids (SFA)
45% monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA)
15% polyunsaturated faty acids (PUFA)
Olive Oil has 14% SFA
Good old avocados are also rich in antialopecics. So to all of you who want more hair, improve your diets and if necessary, supplement with the above nutrients.
Stopping drinking any caffeine (even decaf) and taking kelp pills as well as eating things with selenium (brazil nuts) has made my hair loss neglible. I also quit Stevia as I found it hurt my thyroid. I also eat a good quality greek yogurt and take probiotics. Hope this helps someone.
I know this sounds strange, but L-Glutathione & MSM help the texture/look/feel of my hair almost overnight. I have very thin hair, and when I take these supplements my hair doesn't have that "thin" appearance anymore. For the first time in my life I am getting complimented on my hair - I can't believe it!
I am just starting to try the ACV this week so will let all know how it works for me. I am writing to let everyone know what has finally worked for me after dealing with thinning hair for 20 years now. My hair has always been very fine, but starting thinning in my mid 20's.
My thinning hair has been a source of embarrassment and concern to me for many, many years. Although I eat very healthy, use all natural hair products for the most part and take supplements, nothing has helped.
I tried Nioxin which made my hair nice and shiny and healthy but did not stop the hair loss or thinning. My hair loss was so bad that it plugged the bathroom drain and I had to put a snake down the drain to clear it. When I pulled up the snake there were handfulls of hair that had been lost over time. I was really upset at that point and decided to go to the doctor and have complete blood work done thinking that I must be very low in iron. My tests all came back normal although my iron was in the low normal range. I did some reading on this site (stumbled across it) and read a testimonial from one member who said that she had started taking Lysine, biotin and iron pills for her hair loss and she had great results. I bought the biotin 5000mcg, lysine 500mg, but decided to take 1 tablespoon of blackstrap molasses instead of the iron pills (they upset my bowels).
After only 1 month I can see any incredible difference already!!!! My hair is thicker, healthier, and is filling in nicely. More importantly it does not seem to be falling out at the same rate it used to. I had almost gotten to the point that I had given up on trying to find a "natural" cure to my hair loss and was ready to consider a hairpiece or transplant when it thinned a little more.
I had been struggling with thinning hair and the lack of self confidence that goes with it (you can spend a lot of time trying to cover all the thin spots) for years. Please give this an honest try even if you are fed up with all the things that never worked. It is worth one last try and the supplements are reasonably priced and won't do your body any harm. Good Luck to all!

Hello, I am taking magnesium for hair loss, that is magnesium citrate tablets, two a day, about 100% the RDI, for now a month, and have a lot of growth on my scalp, and in the beard actually too, which appear to come in fuller.
Magnesium seems to calm the scalp, or something similar, I think. I am taking iodine and phosphorous as well, as these minerals are lacking in my nutrition.

Dear Ted, i just wanted to say you are a genius, keep up the good work, people over profit. i worked with a master healer in vancouver BC and many of your remedies are the same as hers. She taught me how much dogma and false truths exist even in the alternative community. i have had some hair thinning over the years but have been able to maintain it to a slow loss and stabilization with adequate protein and minerals. My favorite mineral supplement is pure maple syrup syspended in liquid such as herb tea. Here is a blend:
1 bag green tea with mint and
1 bag stigging nettle sweetened with maple syrup.
all water should be filtered with a brita filter.
Female Hair Loss - after fertility drugs
Hello & thanks for reading this!!! In November 2009 I lost almost all of my hair, after 37 years of LONG THICK hair. I took Clomid for one month and lost a 1" by 1" square of hair. The doc told me no hair loss related... And switched me to Femara... The rest fell out fairly quickly... Over the next couple months. I only took them for a total of 4 months. Later a dermatologist told me the Clomid has a 1% chance of hair loss... And the Femara has a 5% chance of hair loss. It has been almost one year since I have taken ANY of those drugs... My hair is just about gone. I have done 4 months of steriod shots in my head... I did get some growth last month... But then the new stuff recently started falling out. I had 12 viles of blood drawn... Slightly low in B, lower in D (prominant in my area)... All else was fine... Even thyroid. I think the drugs triggered some type of auto-immune in my body... And if someone could just figure out what the trigger was... Maybe it could be fixed????
I have been reading some of the remedies here... Apple cider vinger and so on. I am going to try some of them. But, I'd love to know what has had the most success......... I'm so frustrated... Some of them are such odd mixes of this and that.... I just don't know where to start. PLEASE help if you can... Thanks so much!!!

Better But With Side Effects
About 2 years ago I got a nickel sized bald spot that grew in 6 months to about 3 inches from one side to the other. My Dr put me on alprazolam 2 mg 3 times a day and it grew back within a few months. He said it was stress. Now I suddenly found another bald spot a little further back than the first one and it is already quarter size. I don't want to be put back on that drug because it made me feel different like drugged. This bald spot makes me break down and cry every time I see or think about it. I am so stressed about it and don't know what to do.

Hi Ted, I have hair loss caused by mold, I am waiting on my borax to arrive via mail, I am also experiencing eye floaters in my vision, as well as a few times a day my vision dims slightly, it feels as though I half blink my eyelids but I know I haven't blinked.. Just wondering if this is common? And if supplementing with borax will fix this problem?.. I am also in the process of being desensitized to mold... Via drops under the tounge starting in a week or so. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks
